Chapter 1085: The Brutal First Dungeon Raid (Second Update)
Assembling the group was much faster than Zou Zhuo had imagined, and they were full in no time.
The team composition ended up being a Warrior, Shaman, Mage, Hunter, and Rogue.
With the addition of a new Troll Hunter and an Undead Rogue, the team was finally complete. Zou Zhuo took a look—everyone was basically level 19 or 20, which was just right for tackling the Wailing Caverns.
"Okay, everyone, let's get ready to head out!"
All five were near the Crossroads, so they decided to gather at the entrance of the Wailing Caverns.
After assembling, they buffed each other one by one. Old P thoughtfully added an Intelligence buff to Zou Zhuo, mainly worried that if the main tank didn't have enough Intelligence, he might fail to hold aggro on the mobs, which would be awkward.
After all, that little fatty's IQ often went offline, so playing it safe was the right call.
Then everyone sized up each other's gear.
Yeah, it was pretty pathetic...
Theoretically, leveling up to 20 through quests should have netted them full green gear, but aside from Old P, everyone else was a mix of green and white gear. The worst offender was the Hunter, who wasn't even wearing pants—not even a white piece. Who knows if he'd taken them off and tossed them somewhere...
Then they looked at the Rogue. He was decked out in all green gear, which was decent, but on closer inspection, what the hell—his pants and shoes were cloth armor, and they all added Intelligence and Spirit.
Old P's heart was a whirlwind of mixed emotions. He opened his mouth to speak, then stopped, then started again, then stopped again, and finally forgot what he was going to say.
Logically, among the three streamers, Old P had the least experience with Azeroth, yet he ended up playing the best...
The main reason was that before *World of Warcraft* launched, Old P had done his homework. He'd thoroughly watched *I Am MT*, studied the battles in it, and familiarized himself with various skills, all to avoid being clueless when the time came.
As it turned out, Old P had a knack for games and enjoyed delving into them, so he picked things up quickly.
In contrast, Lin Xue and Zou Zhuo made a lot of basic mistakes.
After all, *I Am MT* was from years ago. Even if they'd watched it back then, they'd long since forgotten everything.
The other two teammates were also poorly equipped, but Old P thought, what was the point of pointing it out now? Everyone's gear was terrible. At least their levels met the requirements, so they might as well give it a shot.
The five of them wandered around and finally found the entrance to the Wailing Caverns.
"This is a perfect recreation of *I Am MT*! Look at the layout of the Crossroads, and check out this cave entrance!"
"Even the mobs are spot on. There shouldn't be some random Night Elf guy popping out of nowhere, right?"
"Haha, how could that be? Even if there were, he'd just get ganged up on by us. It's only been a couple of hours since the server opened; the highest-level Night Elves are probably around our level."
"There's actually a meeting stone here. We can summon teammates with it."
"I wish I'd known earlier—I would've done some quests and waited for you guys to summon me."
"Alright, alright, let's get into the instance. There's blue gear dropping in here!"
"So... are we already in the instance?"
The five of them found a cave entrance marked on the map and went straight in.
Once inside, they were a bit puzzled. Why didn't the mobs here seem tough? They were steamrolling everything.
There were a few Wind Serpents and Raptors, but they were all around level 16. When all five attacked together, some of them didn't even get a chance to fight before the mobs fell.
Then, as they wandered around, they spotted an exit ahead. When they came out, wasn't this the Oasis of the Barrens?
Somehow, they'd looped back out...
Unfortunately, the cave was a maze of branching paths. They'd been so focused on fighting that no one paid attention to the minimap, and they ended up back outside.
On their second attempt into the cave, it took quite a while to find the real entrance to the Wailing Caverns.
During that time, Zou Zhuo even tried to flip over a Slime to see if there was a pink ** under its skirt, only to get his hands covered in green goo. He had to wash them in the water for ages to get clean...
Once they entered the instance, everyone was shocked. They'd clearly underestimated the difficulty before...
Outside the instance, the mobs were normal, but inside, they were all elite.
Elite mobs had significantly boosted stats like attack power and health compared to normal ones. Zou Zhuo, without even checking, charged straight in. After all, the mobs before the instance were so weak that they'd wiped them out in a single rush, giving him the illusion that "we're strong."
This time, charging in also resulted in a total wipe—but it was Zou Zhuo's team that got wiped.
Three or four elite mobs surrounded Zou Zhuo and started chewing on him. Before Lin Xue could even react, Zou Zhuo's Warrior was down. The others didn't last much longer either. Only Old P, being clever, used a Frost Nova to buy time and then bolted, barely surviving by escaping the instance.
The souls of the other four appeared simultaneously at the graveyard.
Zou Zhuo: "This déjà vu is so strong... It's just like in *I Am MT*..."
Lin Xue was so mad she laughed: "Those guys went into the instance at level 15 and still took down a few mobs. We're level 20 and got wiped on the first pack. With your IQ, you're worse than that dumb cow, Moo Moo!"
"It's fine, it's fine. Let's just corpse run." Old P said from inside the instance via the party channel.
Corpse run, eat food, rebuff.
Before clearing an instance, everyone first learns how to wipe and corpse run. No problem there.
This time, they played much more cautiously, pulling mobs one by one. If they pulled too many, Old P would Polymorph one. The run went pretty smoothly.
"Doesn't seem that hard," Zou Zhuo remarked.
Lin Xue scowled: "Hold on, don't charge yet! I've drained all my mana healing you. Old P, give me some mage water."
Zou Zhuo refused to take the blame: "It's clearly your healing output that's lacking!"
Lin Xue snapped: "It's clearly you being too squishy! Your health drops like a roller coaster when the mobs hit you!"
Zou Zhuo: "If you're so good, you tank!"
Lin Xue scowled: "I'm a Shaman! You're a Warrior! With your health and defense, you're worse than the Hunter's pet! Hey, Hunter, where's your pet?"
No one had noticed until Lin Xue mentioned it. Wasn't the Hunter supposed to be able to tame a pet? Why didn't this Hunter have one?
The Hunter himself looked confused: "Pet? What pet?"
Everyone: "..."
Old P said: "Little fatty, I was going to say earlier—how can you not be squishy tanking with a two-handed axe? You're just taking hits with your bare body... Or you could try being more agile and dodge more."
Zou Zhuo was helpless: "I want to dodge, but look at how big this cow is..."
Old P: "...Alright, then let's find a shield first."
Just then, Lin Xue suddenly spotted a giant turtle crawling along the riverbed below: "That thing... doesn't it drop a shield?"
