Chapter 313: 100 Misfortune Events

Chen Mu was dumbfounded. If they wanted him to carry, that was fine, but letting him get carried... that was just too unrealistic, right? There were two girls on the team!

If Chen Mu, their biggest carry, went 0-8, who was supposed to carry?

Countless curses ran through Chen Mu's mind, but on the surface, he remained very calm: "You guys pick your champions first."

He wasn't saying this because he was confident in filling a role; mainly, he still hadn't figured out what exactly a champion that required luck was, or how to complete 100 misfortune events.

Obviously, everyone wanted to win. Jia Peng pulled out his relatively decent Master Yi, Chang Xiuya voluntarily picked Lulu as support, the random player filled mid with Annie, and Li Jingsing locked in Vayne.

Chang Xiuya asked quietly, "Jingsing, this champion is pretty hard. Do you know how to play her?"

Li Jingsing: "Never played her. I'll try."

Chen Mu: "..."

He could only hope the enemy didn't know how to play either!

Chen Mu browsed through the champions. Which one should he pick?

The misfortune event required completing 100 times in a single game. How would that count? Flash into a wall? Definitely not, that was his own misplay, not related to bad luck.

Chen Mu suddenly thought of it: Critical strikes!

Suppose a critical strike should have triggered but didn't. That should count as a misfortune event, right?

"I'm such a damn genius!"

Once he figured this out, Chen Mu locked in a top lane champion without hesitation: Tryndamere, the Barbarian King.

Tryndamere's passive ability, Battle Fury, allowed him to gain fury through attacks, and fury increased his critical strike chance. In other words, he was a champion that naturally came with crit.

Moreover, Tryndamere's main damage output came from basic attacks, so it should be easier to trigger critical strike effects and complete the misfortune event.

Chen Mu was currently in a "Cursed by Misfortune" state, basically choking on a sip of cold water, so Tryndamere with full fury failing to crit should happen frequently.

After selecting the champion, Chen Mu switched to a skin: Demon Blade Tryndamere.

Jia Peng was stunned: "Boss, you..."

Chen Mu nodded: "Yeah, an all-skins account."

Jia Peng: "..."

...

Loading into the game.

As for summoner spells, since many people hadn't reached level 10 yet, their choices were all over the place. Chen Mu's account was only level 5, so he took Ghost and Teleport, while Li Jingsing's account was only level 3, taking Heal and Barrier.

"Let's just play it out," Chen Mu said, feeling like this game's outcome was completely uncertain.

Actually, losing a game wasn't a big deal, and losing face wasn't either. But the key point was, if they lost this game, he wouldn't complete the task to change his luck, and the "Cursed by Misfortune" state would stick with him for the whole day!

Who knew what kind of trouble would stir up in that time?

Chen Mu had to pull himself together.

He glanced at the enemy team composition: Malphite, Karthus, Amumu, Miss Fortune, Sona.

Jia Peng was dumbfounded: "The enemy... that's an ultimate teamfight composition!"

Indeed, that lineup was practically a newbie's dream. In teamfights, as long as they had their ultimates, they were ridiculously strong. Malphite, Amumu, and Sona each had an AoE crowd control ability, making Vayne's survival environment absolutely terrible.

The worst part was that Li Jingsing's account was only level 3, so she hadn't unlocked Cleanse as a summoner spell.

Jia Peng looked at Chen Mu: "Boss, how... how do we play this?"

Chen Mu said, "Just play normally. You carry this game."

Jia Peng: "..."

Unbeknownst to them, a crowd had already gathered behind Chen Mu and his four teammates.

Obviously, these people had never seen Chen Mu play games before, and they all wanted to see how S-God, who had dominated the Warcraft ladder, performed in League of Legends.

Some were whispering quietly.

"I wonder how Chen Mu is at League of Legends? He picked Tryndamere. That champion is strong late game, nicknamed 'Three Slash King.'"

"Didn't you see that video last time? Chen Mu's 'Heal or Harm' Alistar. Clearly, he's not good at League of Legends."

"Not necessarily. Let's see."

Chen Mu felt a pain in his ass.

The problem was, this game he had to make himself go 0-8. This time, he was probably going to cement the title of "League of Legends Noob Serent."

Arriving under the top lane turret, Chen Mu's Tryndamere did two push-ups, waiting for the minion wave.

With his skill level, even if every single hit didn't crit, killing this Malphite wouldn't be hard. The skill gap was just too big. This Malphite was still a minor, while Chen Mu completely dominated in terms of APM, reaction time, technique, and game sense.

But the problem was, not only could he not kill him, he also had to find a way to feed him 8 kills.

Chen Mu's Tryndamere started farming peacefully with Malphite. Chen Mu focused on last-hitting and building up fury.

Sure enough, even after Tryndamere's fury was maxed out, not a single critical strike occurred.

Chen Mu glanced at the bracelet's screen. The task to complete 100 misfortune events in the game was still at 0/100.

"Why isn't it counting?" Chen Mu was a bit puzzled. Logically, Tryndamere's crit chance at full fury was 35%. He had swung so many times without a single crit. Shouldn't that trigger a misfortune event?

Could it be... hitting minions didn't count?

Trying it out, Chen Mu's Tryndamere used his E skill to spin onto Malphite's face, slashed three times, and then retreated.

Still no crit, but the task on the bracelet had changed to 1/100.

"Damn! So it only counts when hitting champions! Fuck!"

In other words, when Tryndamere hit a champion, if a critical strike that should have triggered didn't because of the "Cursed by Misfortune" state, that counted as one misfortune event.

Chen Mu was about to spit blood. Tryndamere had to hit champions to trigger 100 misfortune events. This... how much damage would he have to lose!

But knowing how to farm the misfortune events made things easier. Chen Mu roughly calculated how to stack crit chance.

First of all, in Season 3, there were no masteries that increased crit chance, only ones that increased attack speed and crit damage, so masteries were out.

As for items, Statikk Shiv added 30% crit chance, Infinity Edge added 20%, and with full fury's 35%, the total crit rate would reach 85%. That should trigger them pretty quickly.

Chen Mu made up his mind and started farming safely, planning to come out after building Statikk Shiv and Infinity Edge.

Although he had forced Malphite back to base a few times, Chen Mu couldn't kill him, so Malphite's farm didn't fall behind.

Jia Peng was a bit panicked. Farming peacefully against this enemy composition was not a good sign.

He looked at Li Jingsing: "How is it? Is bot lane under a lot of pressure?"

Li Jingsing focused on the screen: "It's okay."

This was Li Jingsing's first time playing Vayne, and Chang Xiuya was a casual player. The enemy Miss Fortune and Sona were strong in lane, and they also had to watch out for Amumu. So for Jia Peng's team, it was good that bot lane hadn't fallen apart.

Fortunately, they had held steady so far. Vayne's last-hits were even slightly ahead.

Jia Peng thought about it. Ganking Miss Fortune and Sona seemed unrealistic. He looked at Chen Mu: "Boss, can we gank your lane?"
