Chapter 241: The First Day of Confusion

Lin Xue walked toward the small hut labeled [Single Player Mode]. Just then, the little dog trotted over again, carrying a sign: "Detected that this is your first time logging into the game. Would you like to watch the beginner tutorial video?"

Lin Xue thought for a moment and clicked [Yes].

A large screen appeared in front of her, and the beginner tutorial video began to play.

This video was made by Chen Mo, and it was relatively simple. It mainly introduced the mechanics of Survival Mode, including collecting items, building shelters, monster spawning mechanics, crafting tools, crafting a bed, and so on.

The entire video was about eight minutes long, and she could freely fast-forward or replay it.

After watching it once, Lin Xue felt she had grasped some of the basic operations. So she pushed open the door to the [Single Player Mode] hut, walked inside, and selected Survival Mode.

The screen transitioned quickly, and soon Lin Xue arrived in a brand-new world.

She was now standing on a hill, though of course, the entire hill was made up of countless stacked blocks. There were many trees on the hill and the plains, and in the distance, she could see the sea (or maybe a river or lake).

At this moment, Lin Xue was playing the game from a VR first-person perspective. Looking down, she could see her own hands, legs, and feet.

At the edges of her field of vision were two UI bars: a red bar representing health and a yellow bar representing hunger.

Whenever she thought about the inventory in her mind, the entire inventory would instantly appear before her eyes, allowing her to freely select items from it.

Lin Xue only had a relatively crude axe on her, a gift Chen Mo had prepared for all newcomers.

*(It would be pretty awkward to start by punching trees with bare hands.)*

Lin Xue took the axe out of her inventory and held it in her hands.

"Hmm... according to the tutorial video, there's quite a lot to do on the first day. I need to gather as many materials as possible, and it's best to build a house so I won't get attacked by monsters at night."

Lin Xue gripped the axe and started chopping down trees like crazy.

After the trunks of these trees were mined, they fell to the ground as small blocks. Lin Xue walked over, and these small blocks were automatically picked up and stored in her inventory.

Lin Xue tried placing a block on the ground, and a standard 1m x 1m x 1m cube appeared exactly where she wanted it.

"Oh, interesting. So this is how building a house works, huh?"

"But the tutorial video said it's best to make a crafting table first, so I can craft all kinds of other tools. Let me try that."

Lin Xue wandered around while gathering materials. She had collected quite a bit of wood, but she still hadn't decided on a location to build her house.

She thought a lot about where to build. Mainly, she wanted a spot that was convenient for travel, with a mountain behind it and water in front. But as she searched back and forth, night fell.

"Huh? It got dark that fast? Oh man, I haven't even built my house yet!"

Lin Xue had plenty of materials on her, but night came quickly. A little bit of wandering, and time had slipped away. She hurriedly ran up the mountain, intending to dig into the hillside.

The cave was pitch black, but there was still some faint light that let Lin Xue see her surroundings. She held her axe and kept digging nonstop, finally carving out a fairly spacious cavern.

Following the tutorial, Lin Xue started crafting a crafting table, a wooden pickaxe, then mined some stone to make a furnace and torches. At last, she lit up the entire cave.

"Ah, much brighter now. Is this what home feels like?"

Lin Xue walked around the cave very satisfied, then her obsessive-compulsive tendencies kicked in. She mined away all the extra blocks in the cave and placed torches in perfectly symmetrical positions.

Of course, the only problem was that the cave had only one exit at the very top, and Lin Xue had already blocked it up.

The live chat was already going wild with comments.

"Wow, what is Ah Xue doing? Didn't she say this game lets you build houses? Why is she just digging a hole like crazy?"

"How come the game Ah Xue is playing looks different from the video Chen Mo released?"

"But honestly, this game seems pretty fun. Obsessive-compulsive people are totally satisfied watching this!"

"Did Ah Xue dig a grave and bury herself?"

"Feels like this could be the setting for a new tomb-raiding movie 2333"

"But how is Ah Xue going to get out? The way she came in is already filled in, and she can't fly, right?"

Lin Xue, while digging with her wooden pickaxe, explained, "Don't worry, everyone. Getting out isn't hard, is it? I plan to dig a staircase from this side all the way up."

"That's right, just keep digging upward."

"But no rush. It's still nighttime outside anyway. Let me just craft a bed first and get through tonight."

Luckily, Lin Xue had hit some sheep while wandering around and gathered some wool, so she managed to craft a bed without any trouble.

"So, fellow stream viewers, let's just rough it in the bed for now. Tomorrow, I'll dig a staircase out!"

Lin Xue's character lay down on the bed and slept, getting through the first day in *My World*.
