**Chapter 562 – Unnamed**

Lin Qiye stood frozen like a statue.

“What did you draw?” Nyx’s voice came from above.

“Super… Supernatural Fertility…” Lin Qiye practically spat the words through clenched teeth.

Nyx fell silent for a long moment. Then she called out a name:

“Merlin.”

“Yeah, yeah, I got it.”

Merlin sighed. He slammed his staff into the ground, and a blinding white magic circle exploded outward beneath his feet, enveloping the entire courtyard.

Dense magical elements erupted around him, whipping his robes into a frenzy. He held down his oversized pointed hat and began chanting in a low, cryptic voice.

His deep eyes blazed with unprecedented light.

“Time Magic – [Cicada Reversal].”

He raised his staff and slammed it down again. The rotating white array beneath him suddenly froze, then began turning slowly in reverse!

*Zhi—!!*

A sharp cicada cry echoed through the air.

With that sound, time around Lin Qiye began to rewind. The floating words “[Supernatural Fertility]” drifted back into the spinning wheel, and Lin Qiye’s frustrated expression reversed to shock, then to nervous anticipation…

Time had rolled back ten seconds.

Lin Qiye felt a mental jolt; in the blink of an eye he was standing in the courtyard again.

Before him hovered the ability wheel, motionless, as if those ten seconds had never happened.

He stared blankly, then turned to Merlin, eyes full of confusion.

Hadn’t he just drawn [Supernatural Fertility]? Why was the wheel back to its original state?

“Lord Merlin…”

Merlin smiled, lifting his hand from his hat—only for a strand of hair to drift lazily from beneath the brim…

His smile stiffened.

He pressed the hat down again and cleared his throat. “A simple time trick. I fooled the asylum into reversing these few seconds, so… you may draw Nyx’s power again.”

Lin Qiye’s eyes lit up.

So if he drew something he didn’t like, he could reset with time magic?

“Lord Merlin, does this cost you something?” He glanced meaningfully at the hair in Merlin’s hand.

Merlin’s expression turned odd. He hid the strand behind his back and said solemnly, “Questioning the God of Magic? Reversing ten seconds is trivial. Even if there’s a price… well, it’s not huge.

Besides, this is a deal between Lady Nyx and myself. Feel free to ask whenever you want a redo.”

“Indeed, my child, draw again—as many times as you wish,” Nyx added gently from above.

At the words “as many times as you wish,” Merlin’s mouth twitched faintly, resignation flickering in his eyes…

“Alright, let me try again.” Lin Qiye nodded and spun the wheel.

The disc whirled, pointer racing across dazzling abilities, finally stopping on one:

—[Star-Splitting Art].

Lin Qiye’s eyes brightened. That sounded promising…

“Again,” Nyx called.

Lin Qiye hesitated. “Mother, actually, this one seems—”

“Not enough. Again.”

Her tone brooked no refusal.

Merlin’s lips twitched; his staff struck the ground, cicadas cried, time rewound.

Moments later Lin Qiye was back at the spin.

He flicked the wheel.

—[Dull Eye].

“Again.”

Cicadas.

—[Nightfall].

“No good, again.”

—[Night Blink].

“Again!”

Nyx’s voice rang out every time Lin Qiye announced a result, each rejected without hesitation. Several abilities he thought excellent were vetoed, and poor Merlin had to reverse time again and again. With every strike of the staff his hat loosened a little.

After more than thirty repeats even Lin Qiye went numb.

What exactly was Nyx waiting for?

That final one-percent slot?

Forty-second attempt.

Mechanically he spun the wheel, gaze drifting aside; staring so long had made him dizzy.

This time the pointer slid past [Supernatural Fertility] and crept onto the mysterious black sector…

One percent.

[Unknown].

Lin Qiye blinked.

“What did you draw?” Nyx asked patiently.

“I don’t know,” he answered, shaking his head. “It says ‘Unknown’.”

The instant he spoke, several pop-up windows flashed before his eyes!

“Drawing Nyx ‘Unknown’ ability—analyzing…”

“Progress: 1%… 23%… 51%… 79%… 96%… 100%”

“Analysis complete.”

“Night origin detected – [Unnamed].”

Lin Qiye stared at the lines, then said, “It calls it an unnamed night origin.”

Nyx exhaled in relief.

“Good… that one. No more changes.”

Merlin looked as if he’d been granted amnesty!

Lin Qiye gazed at the floating [Unnamed] characters. Not knowing what it was, he still reached out and touched them.

They dissolved into a stream of light that poured into his body.

His mind went blank as vast information flooded in, while a strange warmth flowed through him, remaking flesh and bone.

Black threads erupted from his pores, weaving overhead into a dark cocoon that enclosed him entirely.

Lin Qiye’s presence vanished from the asylum.

Nearby, the happily spectating orderlies froze.

“What happened? Qiye turned into an egg?” Li Yifei asked, bewildered.

Hongyan quietly licked her lips.
