Chapter 1865: Between Light and Shadow
"Gate of Truth… gone?"
Vishnu gazed at the empty ground before him, his eyes narrowing slightly.
In his perception, An Qingyu had just employed some kind of mysterious spatial prohibition, directly relocating the entire remnants of the Gate of Truth… but such a large-scale spatial transfer prohibition was something even he, a Supreme God, had never heard of.
And had Lin Qiye seen those densely packed divine power patterns earlier, he would have noticed that these patterns' directional flow bore a striking resemblance to his own reverse summoning magic array.
After a brief moment of astonishment, Vishnu's gaze shifted to Nyx standing before him.
Where An Qingyu had relocated the gate's remnants, and why—she had done so—Vishnu didn't care. He only knew that this was the best opportunity to kill Nyx!
Just as he was about to act, the surrounding light suddenly dimmed.
Vishnu froze. He stared at Nyx, puzzled. "How is this possible? Wasn't your divine power completely drained?"
Nyx stared blankly at the world plunging into darkness, as if remembering something, then abruptly turned to look in a certain direction.
Vishnu followed her gaze, his eyes sharpening!
The black sun suspended in the distance had, at some point, cracked open at one corner. Absolute darkness, like liquid, flowed from the breach, winding and coiling through the void, as if rivers devouring all light.
Damn it, I forgot about that kid!
That thought had barely formed in Vishnu's mind when all light was swallowed by those rivers, as if someone had grabbed the "brightness" dial and dragged it all the way to the bottom…
The law of darkness grew in silence, like branches born from death, gradually encroaching upon this world piece by piece.
Nyx stood within this darkness, searching for something. In those deep eyes, a rare tenderness and anticipation flickered.
Just then, a warm palm brushed across the back of her hand, gripping the hilt of Ame-no-Murakumo.
"Leave this to me, Mother."
Lin Qiye's gentle voice echoed beside her ear.
At the sound of that voice, a smile curved Nyx's lips. She released her grip, allowing Ame-no-Murakumo to fade into the darkness.
Meanwhile.
Vishnu furrowed his brow tightly. In this darkness, even he could not see the surroundings. He could only sense a faint yet persistent killing intent that always lingered around him.
"Mere tricks."
Vishnu snorted coldly, one foot stomping heavily on the ground, instantly shattering it to pieces!
The ripples of force spread in all directions. With eyes still closed, Vishnu tried to locate Lin Qiye's position through these expanding ripples… He currently had no divine power, so he had to use this most primitive method to pinpoint the enemy's location.
"None?" Vishnu, eyes still shut, was about to act again when he suddenly felt a chill from behind!
Without hesitation, Vishnu spun and threw a fist toward the source—but just as he turned, a golden blade light sliced through the night, striking precisely at his back!
This strike directly tore through Vishnu's flesh, leaving a deep wound that nearly reached the bone.
Vishnu roared, his massive body twisting as he lightning-fast crashed toward where the sword light had originated—only to slam into a heavy boulder, his terrifying force shattering it into countless fragments.
The fragments fell to the ground, yet produced not the slightest sound, as if some dark quagmire had devoured their existence entirely.
Where the hell is this kid?!
Darkness and silence simultaneously stripped Vishnu of both sight and sound. Twice in a row he'd attacked without even touching Lin Qiye's clothes, filling him with indignation and fury.
Just then, the second golden sword light swept out!
This blade light's appearance was equally abrupt. Vishnu's reactions were already lightning-fast—he raised his arm to intercept the direction of the sword light.
The blade light sliced through flesh, leaving a gash on his forearm. At the same time, Vishnu lunged to grab toward where the sword light had come from, hoping to seize Lin Qiye's form directly—but once again, he grasped at air.
Vishnu stood frozen in place.
Based on the direction from which the sword light had struck, he was certain Lin Qiye's figure must have been there, yet even with his desperate strike, he couldn't catch him… As if the one wielding the sword wasn't Lin Qiye at all, but a ghost without physical form.
While Vishnu stood dazed, the third sword light was already thrust toward his heart!
Unlike the previous two strikes, this one aimed directly at Vishnu's vitals. If this sword pierced his heart, even a Supreme God wouldn't survive.
Vishnu couldn't see this blade light, but at this moment, a visceral sense of life-and-death crisis surged in his heart!
He wasn't really going to be killed by this human in this darkness, was he?
This thought flashed through his mind.
Damn it!
From the very beginning he shouldn't have agreed to let the Key to the Gate抽走 his divine power! Otherwise how would he have ended up in such a passive situation!
He, a堂堂 Supreme God, if he really got beheaded here by a Chief God-level human, that would be too憋屈!
Intense survival instinct surged through Vishnu's heart. He拼命挪动身体, trying to dodge this lethal attack—
Just then, a sound of clashing metal rang out from behind him!
Clang—!
At the critical moment, a treasure sword swept aside the golden blade light, deflecting it slightly.
The sword light failed to pierce Vishnu's heart. Instead it pierced through his shoulder blade. Agonizing pain flashed through Vishnu's mind, but at this moment he couldn't care less. He turned his head to look in a certain direction.
A figure wrapped in a black robe walked slowly out from within the darkness.
"After all, he's an ally I just recruited… I can't just let him die here." An Qingyu's voice rang out.
"Is that so?"
In the darkness, ripples凭空荡起—
A刺目的光明 cut through the darkness, as if cleaving this world in two. A 深红色 figure, hand gripping a long sword, stood at the boundary between light and shadow. One eye pupil burned gold; the other pupil was as black as ink.
He stared at An Qingyu in the darkness. After a moment, he spoke again,
"In that case, your body stays here too."
He raised his long sword and slashed through the air. The surrounding darkness, like a canvas slashed by a blade, instantly split into two halves.
An Qingyu's form swiftly turned into a thick fog, dissipating on the spot. When he reappeared, he was already at the edge of the light and shadow!
He gripped the golden glow of the Royal Scepter in one hand and brought it down heavily—but Lin Qiye seemed to have anticipated his movement long ago. His fingers twitched subtly.
The next instant, the earth beneath An Qingyu's feet melted into a dark quagmire. The Royal Scepter failed to strike the ground; instead, it sank deeply into the quagmire!
