# Chapter 650: Have Movie Characters Become Real?
The building had been reinforced with prop power, so the Special Defense Department personnel had prepared explosive devices, planning to open a hole in the wall.
From preparation to blasting the wall to the Special Defense Department players entering, the lurking players inside the building gave no warning at all, as if they had lost contact.
The drones and surveillance robots placed inside in advance would malfunction after flying for a short while. The Special Defense Department had no eyes and ears, so they could only send players in to scout the way.
Xu Huo changed into a set of Special Defense Department equipment and followed the scouting team into the building.
The building was empty of people. Different music flowed out from the shops that hadn't had time to close their doors—pop music and electronic sounds mixed together, forming a deepening effect in the spacious space, as if coming from a deep cave.
"Everyone be careful of props!" The captain walking in front raised his hand to signal the team to stop, then fired two shots at a huge doll placed directly ahead.
The bullets passed through the doll and hit the wall behind. After confirming it wasn't a prop, the captain gestured for the others to disperse and head toward the stairs.
But just as they were moving toward the stairs, the doll that had been shot suddenly jumped up, shaking the large hole in its belly as it lunged at the players.
"Watch your feet!" A player rushed forward and threw out a spinning top. When the spinning top landed, it released several small tops with strings, and the few spinning tops tripped the doll.
"Bang bang bang!" A round of bullets swept across, riddling the doll with holes before it stopped struggling, but what was exposed inside was all burnt stuffing.
"Hee hee!" A rabbit poked its head out, laughing as it ran toward the stairs. After being knocked back by the stair door, it stubbornly charged again until it pushed the door open and climbed the stairs.
The strange laughter echoed in the stairwell. The Special Defense Department players didn't follow too closely. They first used a prop to carry a surveillance camera up to check the situation, but as soon as the camera went up, it malfunctioned, and the footage it sent back was pitch black.
The captain stepped aside, and a player behind him stepped forward, taking out a half-human-tall robot and placing it on the steps. After pressing the red button on top, he stepped back.
"Bang! Bang!" When the robot opened its eyes, it first shot two lasers at the players. After the players dodged, it cursed and climbed the stairs, banging and smashing all the way.
The player who had been ambushed by his own prop said at this point, "For the next three minutes, it will attack any target that appears in front of it and is about my height."
The captain nodded and led the team forward.
Not to mention how strange this prop was, its performance was commendable. By the time the Special Defense Department members reached the second floor, the head of the rabbit that had escaped was left with only a large hole.
A player went up and kicked it. The rabbit doll didn't move.
Next, they needed to clear the second floor.
More than half of the second floor consisted of beverage shops and snack shops—many shops but small storefronts, basically no place to hide. The other side was an entertainment area that could be seen at a glance, though the cinema at the back was quite large.
"The control switch is malfunctioning." The player who had gone to turn on the main switch returned to report to the captain. "The cinema lights won't turn on, but each hall has its own switch."
"Everyone be careful. The enemy is likely hiding inside." The captain quickly assigned tasks.
Xu Huo followed the other members into the screening hall. The big screen was showing a gunfight movie. A burst of intense shooting sounds rang out. The two players walking in front were hit by bullets and crashed into the seats. Before they could get up, the surrounding seats exploded one after another, and bullets kept ricocheting off the metal seat frames, affecting the other players traveling with them.
"Spread out!" One of them shouted, slashing at the big screen from a distance with a blade!
The twenty-meter-long screen split in two, and the projection stopped immediately, but the sounds from the movie didn't stop. The characters that should have been recreating the filming scene actually formed new lines. They shouted in the darkness about using cannons to level those who had ambushed them. Then the projection lit up again, and a living person actually jumped out from where the screen had been, raising a machine gun and firing forward: "The people's heroes are not afraid of death! Little devils, pay with your lives!"
The players who saw this were all stunned, then quickly ducked behind the seats, because the machine gun in the other person's hand could really kill people!
Bullets flew out continuously, and the entire screening hall was filled with the smell of gunpowder. The "movie character" forced the players back but was still unsatisfied, leaping a few steps toward the seats in the first row.
During this time, two players fired back, but the bullets passed through his body and hit the screen behind.
"The people's heroes are not afraid of death! The people's heroes will not die!" The "movie character" laughed loudly, but the next second, he couldn't laugh anymore, because a white light flashed, and the machine gun in his hand snapped in two.
He suddenly turned his head and saw a Special Defense Department player standing two meters away from him!
Xu Huo reached out and grabbed the "movie character's" throat.
"You're grabbing at air..." The captain at the door couldn't help shouting when he saw his move, but before he finished speaking, the "movie character," who was still some distance from Xu Huo, actually grabbed his own neck with both hands, showing a pained expression.
"This is visual misalignment." Xu Huo had a prop for visual misalignment, so he wasn't as clueless as the other players. "Fake things can't cause real harm to people. Since you can hit others, it means you must be near the illusion and can't be too far away."
He had aimed at the fake machine gun, but the Crimson Sword would only hit the first target it encountered. He was very lucky—he found the original body on his first try.
He slammed the person hard into the screen. The fake image of the "movie character" seemed to overlap with the real person, crashing against the wall with a bang and then falling to the ground!
The opponent looked up and glared hatefully at Xu Huo, then waved his hand. More movie characters ran out from the half of the screen. Fake gunfire sounds and real bullets mixed together, making it impossible to tell where the real player actually was.
Xu Huo jumped down from the seat and swung his sword at the "crowd" rushing toward him. A faint sound of a bullet being fired came from somewhere. He pushed off the ground and stabbed toward the left front. With a "crash," the tip of his sword lifted up a crocodile doll!
"You can't catch me! Can't catch me!" A fox appeared behind the crocodile, raising its front paws high as it excitedly ran toward the door.
"Trying to escape?!" The captain, who was not far from the door, smashed a bottle of potion on the ground. An oil-like liquid spread across the passageway on its own. The fox that hadn't had time to escape fell flat on its back, but the next second, it no longer moved as clumsily as the other dolls. It kicked off the wall with one foot, dodged the captain's bullets, and slid all the way to the door!
The Crimson Sword slashed through the fox doll from a distance. The player hidden inside jumped out and disappeared from everyone's sight.
The captain and several team members quickly gave chase, but once outside, the entire corridor suddenly went dark. The flickering light bulbs not only put psychological pressure on people but also interfered with the players' vision.
The Special Defense Department players shot out the lights with a few rounds, then walked into complete darkness.
