Chapter 491: The Moving Ship
Xu Huo didn’t go over to help. Instead, he removed the red bracelet from the corpse, returned to the elevator, and pressed the button for the fourth floor.
“Help! Save me!” the female player continued to shout. Compared to the player chasing her with a creepy laugh from behind, she seemed weak and pitiful. Just as she was about to be caught, a small drum and a mallet appeared in her hand. She struck them toward her pursuer, and the sound wave sent him staggering back several meters.
Seizing the opportunity, she squeezed into the elevator just before the doors fully closed.
“Heavy-duty wrench!” The pursuing player didn’t give up. He threw a prop that wedged itself between the closing elevator doors.
Xu Huo used his water cutter to slice through the metal wrench on the door, while with his other hand, he fired a kite string from a small note launcher toward the charging man, hitting him square in the forehead!
Realizing the situation was wrong, the black-bracelet player tried to flee, but how could he outrun the kite string? As he pulled out a medicinal tool to cut the line, Xu Huo set it on fire first, and the man immediately screamed in agony.
Dragging the man to the elevator doors, the victim refused to enter the elevator at all costs, bracing his hands on the half-closed doors and struggling to break free.
Unfortunately, by then the elevator was already moving. The forcibly closing doors severed his hands along with his neck, leaving only a head and eight fingers inside the elevator.
Xu Huo leisurely retracted the kite string, removed the black bracelet, and replaced it with a red one. He authorized the elevator to skip the second and third floors and go directly to the fourth.
“Gulp!” The sound of the woman swallowing echoed in the elevator, along with her rapidly accelerating heartbeat.
Xu Huo knew she was scared but didn’t look at her. When the elevator arrived, he walked straight out.
A few seconds later, the woman followed behind him.
The situation on the fourth floor was even worse than on the other levels. Killing had become an open spectacle, with black-bracelet players even teaming up with red-bracelet players to hunt ordinary people and white-bracelet players for entertainment. Many people fled in panic, hiding wherever they could, only to be discovered and forced into another heart-pounding chase for their lives.
But the red-bracelet and black-bracelet players weren’t aiming to kill directly—they were treating it as a game.
“Ten, nine, eight…!” A black-bracelet player lounged in a beach chair, loudly counting down toward the open-air pool on the deck. “Three, two… sixty, fifty-nine, fifty-eight…”
The strange countdown hadn’t even finished when someone suddenly stood up from the pool and bolted toward the edge. But before he could reach it, the black-bracelet player who was counting raised his gun and shot him through the head!
The player’s half-empty skull, along with his body, collapsed into the pool, staining the already murky water an even deeper red.
“I told you, anyone who comes out of the water before the time is up loses, and losers die. That’s fair, isn’t it?” the black-bracelet player said with a grin, continuing to address the pool. “Look at you all, no patience at all. You couldn’t even last ten minutes before popping out one by one. Come on, friends, show some backbone. You’ve made the water so dirty, it’s embarrassing me.”
“Fish the body out.”
Two trembling waiters obeyed, dragging the corpse out of the water and placing it fearfully beside the three red-bracelet players near the black-bracelet player.
What followed was a gruesome scene, but the black-bracelet player acted as if he didn’t see it, merely reminding his friends to mind their manners before turning back to continue his breath-holding headshot game with the players in the pool.
“Beasts in human skin!” The woman behind Xu Huo’s teeth chattered, but she dared not step forward. Instead, she gestured for him to leave quickly.
However, it was already too late to leave.
The black-bracelet player shot another player who couldn’t hold his breath and surfaced from the pool, then turned back toward their direction and said, “Since you’re here, why not join the fun?”
The feasting players all stopped what they were doing. Two other black-bracelet players flanked them from front and back. They bypassed Xu Huo, who was wearing a red bracelet, and grabbed the female player.
The female player struggled and screamed in terror, but the black-bracelet player jabbed her throat with one hand, and she immediately went silent.
“So you’re companions,” the black-bracelet player said, glancing at the two of them before inviting Xu Huo to sit down. “I haven’t seen you before.”
“I’ve seen you,” Xu Huo said, ignoring the woman being thrown into the pool. He looked at the group and added, “We crossed paths when I checked in on the seventh floor.”
The black-bracelet player studied him for a moment, found no recollection, and said, “We’re having a gathering. Want some?”
“No thanks.” Xu Huo glanced at the table. “The atmosphere here isn’t great.”
The three red-bracelet players looked slightly displeased. “You’re not an aristocrat, so why be so picky?”
Among those present, only the black-bracelet player sitting in the chair giving orders was an aristocrat. The three red-bracelet players and the two black-bracelet players acting as bodyguards were not.
“Why are you carrying a white bracelet?” The black-bracelet player, who had an aristocratic emblem tattooed on the back of his hand, took a sip of wine and said slowly, “Did you bring her on board, or are you protecting that woman?”
Xu Huo didn’t answer the question. Instead, he said, “What’s the fun in killing a bunch of sheep penned up in a circle? A fight between wolves is much more exciting. Besides, those white-bracelet players aren’t very high-level.”
The black-bracelet player laughed. “So you want to eat them?”
He was referring to the three red-bracelet players.
The three of them tensed up under his gaze, but Xu Huo just smiled, drew his sword, and attacked the black-bracelet player!
Fair Wallet, the omnipresent strings, and the kite string were all thrown out almost simultaneously. But the black-bracelet player, caught off guard, dodged and swept his hand through the air. The wallet, strings, and kite string all slammed into a nearby chair. At the same time, he raised his gun and fired continuously!
Bullets punched a series of dents into the metal deck, chasing Xu Huo as he shot through the side cabin door.
Xu Huo, who had dodged every bullet, was already inside the cabin. He turned and used “No Burden Kill Shot” to attack the opponent’s throat. However, the black-bracelet player was incredibly sharp, swiftly sidestepping and instantly teleporting to the cabin door, facing Xu Huo directly as he swept his hand again!
A force as solid as a wall seemed to condense in the air and rush toward him. Though invisible, Xu Huo could sense it. He precisely evaded the opponent’s trait attack, pulled out a stench potion, and smashed it on the ground.
The thick stench forced the black-bracelet player back a step, and Xu Huo took the chance to flee deeper into the cabin.
“Trying to run!” The black-bracelet player’s face darkened. Without needing his command, the three red-bracelet players immediately gave chase.
Because of Xu Huo’s distraction, with three fewer players threatening them, the players who had been holding their breath under the pool surfaced. One of them aimed a large fan at the black-bracelet player, blasting him with a face full of water. The other players then used props or traits to delay the three pursuers, buying themselves a chance to escape.
