Chapter 474: The Urgently Needing Repair Castle
This move shocked both Weiwei and the player with the broken hand and leg. Seeing someone jump off the train and sink into the icy lake, Weiwei quickly said, "Wait a minute, I didn't intend to fight with you..."
But Xu Huo clearly had no intention of separating her from the player who jumped off the train. He lifted his foot and walked toward them. Weiwei and the other player's faces changed, and the next second they disappeared from the train.
"Arrived at the station so soon." Xu Huo said with an unreadable expression, then turned his head to look at Dr. Deng.
Dr. Deng met his gaze, his body language revealing tension and fear. "Are you going to kill me?"
Xu Huo didn't answer his question, merely stared at him.
In just a few seconds, sweat broke out on Dr. Deng's forehead. Only then did Xu Huo speak, "I gave you the ticket because I thought you were valuable to me, but now I think you're not worth it."
The Crimson Sword appeared in his hand, and he added, "You can use your items now."
"Wait!" Dr. Deng quickly stepped back, holding onto the train's front, and said, "Don't you want to know about Dr. Wu's past? I can tell you everything."
"You're full of lies." Xu Huo rested one hand on the sword, as if testing its sharpness. The moment he looked up at him, there was scrutiny and assessment in his eyes. "It's not easy to verify your words either."
"You can find a lie-detecting item." Dr. Deng said rapidly, "I can't possibly fool advanced instruments and items."
"I can fool items." Xu Huo said indifferently.
Dr. Deng quickly glanced at him, "You can do it, but I can't. If you don't believe me, you can test me immediately after we arrive at the station. Once we reach District 011, I can't leave either. Try it and you'll see."
Xu Huo rested the sword on his shoulder and moved it forward slightly, as if considering his proposal.
Dr. Deng tilted his head, his gaze shifting between the blade and Xu Huo's face, and then said, "If you're still uneasy, once we reach District 011, I can immediately go to the Government Hall or a pharmaceutical company to find a job. That way, I can suspend my player status, and I won't be able to leave District 011."
"And when the time is right, you'll catch another ride to somewhere else?" Xu Huo's murderous intent remained unchanged. "You prepared the tools to kill the Kong siblings in the Deep Blue Laboratory. Are you also prepared tools to deal with me now?"
"Even if I wanted to, I don't have the conditions." Dr. Deng paused, as if making up his mind, and said, "I can tell you the truth. Actually, the reason I resigned from the Stellar Corporation subsidiary was to pursue the Perfect Evolution Potion."
"In the Stellar Pharmaceuticals laboratory, I saw too many people used as test subjects. Some were players who had just shown side effects, some were just ordinary people, including the elderly, children, and even pregnant women. For the needs of the experiment, the lab staff could violate employee rules to accelerate their degeneration, or induce labor in pregnant women to verify whether the child in her womb would also be affected by the side effects, soaking children in nutrient tanks to observe the entire process of an infant degenerating to death..."
"Don't play the sympathy card," Xu Huo interrupted him. "Are you saying you resigned because your conscience wouldn't let you?"
"I was fired." Dr. Deng was silent for two seconds before saying, "Because I had no contributions."
"You want to find Dr. Wu and the Perfect Potion to end the suffering of evolved humans?" Xu Huo said. "Then you should know another thing."
"The Perfect Potion is only effective when used before the P1 potion." Dr. Deng's understanding of the Perfect Potion was clearly more than he had let on. "But this world isn't just made up of those who have been taking evolution potions for years. There are also newborn children, and there are even more worlds that haven't yet entered the game. Isn't this a good thing for future generations?"
"A noble goal." Xu Huo said noncommittally.
Dr. Deng observed his expression, and after a moment said, "I want to end the game's control over humanity."
Only then did Xu Huo put away his sword. "After we arrive at the station, find a place to settle down yourself. Note down my communicator channel. Contact me if something comes up."
Dr. Deng let out a heavy breath. "It seems you also hate the game."
Xu Huo gave a sarcastic laugh. "Knowing that you'll eventually end up the same as the xenomorphs, do you think any player would like this game?"
Dr. Deng fell silent.
The two arrived at District 011 station in silence. After arriving, Xu Huo, who had changed into clean clothes, walked straight off the train without giving Dr. Deng another glance and left the station.
There were quite a few players lingering near the station, so Dr. Deng's first action after getting off was to walk to a crowded street, pick an advertisement from the countless ones on the street, and go to apply for a job.
Xu Huo took a driverless taxi first to the old city district, removed his item to restore his original appearance, and then returned to Rose Castle.
But he really didn't expect that in just over ten days, the once rather majestic castle had become dilapidated. The situation was even worse than right after the instance ended. The front garden and the back botanical garden had been almost completely leveled, the garden maze had vanished without a trace, and it looked more like an abandoned building about to collapse.
"Sir, you're back." Mr. Dong greeted him at the door, taking his umbrella and coat. "Hot tea will be ready shortly."
"I'll have something cold." Xu Huo glanced briefly at the living room and dining room, where most of the furniture had disappeared, and asked an extra question, "I don't have to pay for the repairs, do I?"
"Mr. He Pu left some savings." Mr. Dong said.
That's good.
Xu Huo looked up and saw Lady Butterfly coming down the stairs, looking as if she had just woken up, yawning as she said, "Give me a glass of milk."
Mr. Dong quickly went and came back. Xu Huo got his glass of iced tea as desired, but Lady Butterfly frowned and said, "I've said it several times, I want boiled milk."
Mr. Dong usually had no expression, but now he looked even less friendly. He stood behind Xu Huo and said, "Everything is based on the sir's taste."
The fire was successfully redirected. Lady Butterfly looked at Xu Huo.
Xu Huo had no intention of getting involved in their private affairs and asked, "Why haven't you left yet? Didn't you get the weapons?"
Lady Butterfly was very unhappy. "What? Looking for a fight as soon as you come back?"
Xu Huo glanced at her. "I wouldn't dare. I'm afraid you'll tear down the castle in a fit of rage, and then I'll have nowhere to stay."
Lady Butterfly's expression turned even worse. She put down her cup and went back upstairs.
After washing up, Xu Huo went to the study. Some documents were laid out on the desk, including an old-fashioned letter sealed with wax. He opened it and found it was an invitation from the District 011 Noble Club, inviting him to a gathering in five days.
"This invitation was given by Duke Tal. If sir can establish good relations with the nobles at the gathering, inheriting the title of baron will go more smoothly." Mr. Dong explained.
"Can't it be solved simply by spending money?" Xu Huo asked.
"If sir wants to deal with the Government Hall, it's best to go through this procedure." Mr. Dong only said.
