Chapter 3145: Collection of Love Letters

"Carrying so many things, maybe we should head out first," said Jean Anderson.

Although the instance venue was quite large, not many had entered, and most had brought enough food and water. They wouldn't leave unless it was absolutely necessary. Situations like the one just now might happen again. Even though the venue restricted everyone from using items, the number of instruments was limited, and the place was unstable. If things got out of hand and caused a major disaster, losing one's life wouldn't be worth it.

Upstairs and the others didn't want to leave, but they had also consumed a lot of their instruments. If Xu Huo wanted to go, they would have to follow.

"Wait a bit," Xu Huo said, glancing at the situation outside the greenhouse. "The bedroom over there is relatively safe. Let's rest for a while first."

The others didn't understand his intention, but they were indeed exhausted from the earlier mental attack, especially Upstairs, who had been weakened multiple times. If his mental evolution hadn't been decent, he might not have held up during the "Angel's Eyes" earlier.

Xu Huo wasn't really looking for a place to rest; he wanted to examine the manuscripts he had brought from the study.

He had only roughly sorted them earlier in a hurry. Since there was no rush to leave, he could take some time to deal with this issue.

Among these books and manuscripts were many written records left by Carmen Field. Besides designs related to the Battle Angel and notes on learning to be an Artificer, there was also a lot of experience regarding Super Evolution. The handwriting varied, and some were clearly very old, likely collected from the game.

What truly surprised Xu Huo was that he found a special book that could only be unlocked with spiritual power. Upon opening it, he discovered it was entirely about Dr. Wu.

It not only listed places where Dr. Wu might have appeared but also marked the levels and quantities of the Perfect Potion, along with Carmen's own speculation about Dr. Wu's motives.

Given Carmen's abilities, finding traces of Dr. Wu was easier for him than for ordinary players. He had guessed that Dr. Wu's actions were related to the early death of his wife and daughter, and further deduced that Dr. Wu might have come from a non-ticket A-level wormhole point.

The fact that Dr. Wu hadn't been found by the Game Government made it easy to assume he was originally part of the Game Government and held certain permissions. However, after gathering enough information, Carmen overturned this conclusion because he discovered Dr. Wu's skillful use of time power.

Carmen was also a Temporal Evolver. Even if he hadn't seen Curved Time, he must have experienced time-based precognition. This was evident from his leaving home at a young age. For someone more mature in time evolution, precognition was no longer a rare coincidence. So Dr. Wu was likely using precognition to evade the Game Government.

However, Carmen didn't know how Dr. Wu achieved this, so he spent a great deal of effort researching it.

Additionally, he found several Perfect Potions. The notes didn't mention where they went, but since Carmen himself wasn't a Perfect Evolver, the potions were probably given to others or directly to his family.

Overall, there was nothing particularly special or beyond Xu Huo's expectations in this content, not even the whereabouts of the Perfect Potions.

With so many potions scattered by Dr. Wu into the game zones, obtaining one wasn't difficult. But as evolution rates increased, finding later potions became harder, so those with choices would decide early on whether to pursue Perfect Evolution.

It was just a matter of trade-offs. However, Xu Huo believed there were definitely other Perfect Evolvers in the game.

As for these... truly important things probably wouldn't be placed in an instance venue. With Carmen's abilities, he couldn't have been unaware of what this instance would eventually become. Placing any item here was meaningless. To appease his family or other forces, the materials he had studied might have already been entrusted elsewhere.

The instance venue had turned into this state, the Battle Angel had collapsed, and he had died... Had Carmen foreseen this outcome before the battle?

"Look what I found?" Fu Kuan held up a heart-shaped notebook. "It's Mr. Carmen's collection of love letters."

Everyone stared at the notebook, which was almost as thick as a dictionary, and fell silent again. They respected Carmen, but this great hero was indeed not very discreet in his private life. What kind of person writes love letters by the volume?

"How many lovers did Mr. Carmen have?" Juno took it and flipped through a couple of pages. Gradually, her expression turned serious. She flipped a few more pages and couldn't help but sigh softly. "Mr. Carmen was truly a man of great literary talent. Who wouldn't be moved by these words? Even if he were an ugly monster, I would look past his appearance to appreciate his soul. And he was such a... near-perfect person."

Curiosity was human nature. Love letters from Mr. Carmen circulated on the Message Collection Terminal, but only a small portion, and it was hard to tell truth from fiction. Nothing compared to facing such gossip firsthand.

A few people gathered to look. After a while, Jean rubbed his arms and stepped back. "How can someone say such cheesy things? Did Mr. Carmen really write this?"

His two bodyguards had better taste. "The poems in Mr. Carmen's love letters were the most popular poetic forms of the time. They might seem a bit outdated now, but by the standards of that era, they were definitely good. Moreover, the love letters from different periods each had their own characteristics, showing his literary skill."

"If you ask me, Mr. Carmen was a bit narcissistic," Upstairs said with a harmless smile. "Who would bind their own love letters into a book? Did he plan to pass them down to future generations?"

After he spoke, everyone thought of the diaries and letters displayed in the exhibition hall. Well, not only were they passed down to future generations, but they were also spread throughout the entire game world.

"Let me see." Xu Huo raised his hand, and the love letter collection flew into his grasp. After quickly flipping through it, he asked, "How many partners did Mr. Carmen actually have?"

"I've heard it's close to a hundred," Juno said. "Someone on the 001 Zone Message Collection Terminal compiled the statistics."

"Do you think that's possible?" Jean said with some displeasure. "Did Mr. Carmen have nothing to do all day but interact with women?"

"There were apparently men too," Juno added.

Jean choked. "Those are all fake, fabricated by people obsessed with Mr. Carmen."

"Take that Levin Carter you just met. He has a great-aunt who admired Mr. Carmen. She publicly confessed multiple times and even spread rumors that she had married Mr. Carmen in another zone and was pregnant."

He sneered. "Which player family still has children the old-fashioned way? In the end, when his family investigated her whereabouts, they found she had only seen Mr. Carmen twice at public banquets, without even exchanging a single word!"
