Chapter 3106: Should Be a Humorous Person
Xu Huo turned around and saw the woman staring at him intently, as if demanding an answer.
Xu Huo thought for a moment and said, "Should be a humorous person, I suppose."
At least in the chaotic space of Zone 014, the casualness and pride mixed together in Carmen Field had created an image that wasn't so serious—it could even be called gentle and easygoing.
The woman clearly hadn't expected him to give that answer. She quickly pressed further, "I only think Mr. Carmen is brave, majestic, refined and gentle, humble and reserved, upright and responsible, magnanimous with integrity, and also handsome and elegant, wealthy and talented. I never thought he would be a humorous person. Where did you see that? Can you share it with me?"
Without pausing, she rattled off a long string of praises for Carmen Field while opening her personal terminal to take notes.
Xu Huo recalled the rumors he'd heard after getting off the train. "Isn't it said that he really liked playing and fooling around with children? Since he could make kids laugh, he must be witty and humorous."
The overly dry reasoning seemed insincere, but the young woman nodded repeatedly and agreed deeply. "Mr. Carmen was good to everyone. Even if he didn't get along well with his family, he never forgot to take care of the younger generation. The younger members of the Field Clan all respect and adore him."
"He really is a perfect man."
"It's a pity there's no second him in the world, a pity I was born too late. If I could have seen Mr. Carmen's presence with my own eyes, I would be willing to die."
This remark resonated with two or three women in the same cable car. They gathered around and began to fantasize about Mr. Carmen's gentleness and perfection.
Carmen Field was a legend, and because this legend was a peak that later generations could hardly climb, both men and women had elevated him to a divine status to some extent. Not only did women spare no words of praise, but the men in the cable car also opened up to praise him, wishing they had been born in the same era.
Xu Huo listened to their discussions, but his gaze was fixed on the thriving cityscape below.
The people of this district reminisced about Carmen Field, recounting his deeds over and over again. It wasn't about using the glory of their ancestors to bolster today's prestige—this person had become their spiritual pillar.
A hero with absolute positive significance, who dared to resist threats from other wormhole points and successfully defended his homeland, had turned into a guiding light and eternal role model. Everyone would try their best to emulate him.
What a pleasant place.
Xu Huo maintained his good mood all the way to Yongxing Hotel. The hotel gave him a free sightseeing map of the battle sites.
"Can you still get close to the battle sites now?" he asked the staff.
"The Field Battle Angel sites involve thousands of places, large and small. Most of them only preserve the remnants of destroyed buildings," the staff explained with a smile. "These places are all accessible."
"If you want to visit places involving the remains of the Battle Angel, you need the Field Clan's consent. Yongxing Hotel can apply on your behalf, but such sites are often unstable and at risk of collapse at any time, so sightseeing hours are unpredictable."
Xu Huo gave him a tip and asked him to help with the application.
After closing the door, he carefully examined the sightseeing map provided by the hotel. The less important areas were divided into nearly a hundred site groups, while the rest were categorized by the degree of battle destruction.
Places with significant combat traces and residual space-time power that had not yet dissipated were classified as three-star sightseeing spots.
Places where power conflicts were so intense that they caused space collapse or chaotic spaces were classified as four-star sightseeing spots.
Places that might contain remains of the Battle Angel or other lost items were five-star sightseeing spots.
Only two five-star sightseeing spots were publicly disclosed. How many there really were wasn't specified in the manual, and their exact locations were held by the Field Clan.
Among them, a five-star sightseeing spot located in a large district of a certain A-level wormhole point was the one that had just been made public two years ago.
Xu Huo looked at the span of these sites, from B02 to B01, then to A29 and A25. Several wormhole points showed traces of the Battle Angel's presence. Zones 001, 002, and 003 of B01 and A29 had been almost leveled to the ground. A25 suffered the heaviest losses, with nearly seven zones having their designations erased, later replaced by newly formed zones.
Involving multiple super players, especially with super items and even hyperdimensional devices in their hands, it wasn't hard to understand how so many zones could be destroyed. What was surprising was that B02's zones had been preserved. After all, with super players dead and so many zones implicated, the number of players in each zone was incalculable. After the war ended, there wasn't a large-scale retaliation?
A battle of this level was certainly no longer a matter between individuals. It had to be a war of survival between zones and wormhole points. Even if Carmen Field and the other super players had died, the war wouldn't have subsided so easily. There should have been a long period of pacification afterward. But on his way here, he had checked the district's history and confirmed that it had never suffered a large-scale attack, let alone a zone war.
That was actually hard to imagine.
If it were a duel between several super players with prior agreements, the impact on the zones after it ended might have been relatively mild. But they had already destroyed several zones—how could that end peacefully?
Yet in reality, this district had not been touched by the flames of war. Was it the Field Clan's effort, or the intervention of a stronger force? Or was there something fishy about this defensive war itself?
Perhaps this was itself an attempt by the Field Clan to make another leap, but it had failed.
Most of Carmen Field's deeds were hearsay, but the past images he had seen in the chaos were not fake. From them, one could glimpse his demeanor in his youth—a person who would do good deeds on a whim.
That couldn't represent everything about him in the long years that followed, but it did reveal a certain baseline of his character to some extent.
Maybe only the Field Clan knew what this war was really about.
The food in Zone 001 was quite good. After bathing, Xu Huo moved his dining spot to the terrace, enjoying the night breeze, the flickering lights of the city, and the endless stream of aircraft.
When the hour struck, several giant humanoid holographic projections appeared above the city center. "The next candidate for District Grand Archon—please cast your precious vote."
Xu Huo's gaze skimmed past the first few figures and landed on the last one. It was a woman who looked very young, dressed in a white suit, her long hair pinned behind her head. She appeared capable and approachable. Her identity information read:
"Dai Ting Field, granddaughter of the Morning Star, Carmen Field."
