Chapter 3069: No Man's Land
"Then run faster!" Xu Huo wiped his nose again, staring intently ahead while simultaneously accelerating, using spatial power to teleport multiple times.
Ding Xiang couldn't care about anything else now. After each spatial jump, she checked Xu Huo's condition. A nosebleed could mean brain damage. If it was somewhere else, spatial power could still compensate—hadn't they seen Lawrence Li dominating games from a wheelchair? As a degraded super player, his strength was still no less than a normal person's, and he was very famous in the games. But if it was the brain, exceeding its limit could lead to coma, dementia, or even sudden death!
"If you really can't hold on, don't push yourself. I don't think we can escape the range of this space wall anyway. Better save your strength!"
Xu Huo didn't answer, because he had already spotted the end of the space wall.
To be precise, it was the end of a stationary space wall, like a giant cube placed in this space, with a corner not far ahead.
With Ding Xiang's help, he still had to teleport several times to reach the corner. By then, the moving space wall was only about ten meters away from them!
"There's an exit!" Ding Xiang felt a sudden break in the spatial power ahead and shouted with joy.
The two rushed around the corner. Sure enough, the area ahead was wide open. They ran another distance to the right before turning back to look at the moving space wall. Indeed, in that short time, the two space walls had merged into one. They didn't know how the power inside was shifting, but suddenly a corpse was embedded high in the air, charging toward them, right in front of them, about fifty meters off the ground.
At this distance, they could clearly see the corpse's condition: uniform cracks spread across every part of the body, whether clothing or skin, making it look like a ceramic figure about to collapse. But blood seeping from some places indicated that this was indeed a real human corpse.
"He was cut by spatial power." Ding Xiang's voice was somewhat low.
For evolvers, the human body could actually be composed of space rays. The most common instrument used to control players, the Spider Lock, used space rays to imprison the human body. This corpse embedded in the wall, though still intact on the surface, was actually shattered into pieces.
"Let's go." Xu Huo turned around.
Ding Xiang nodded and quickened her pace.
Although they had reached the corner of the space wall, they didn't have a better choice. They still had to continue along another side of the space wall, just in a different direction from before.
After a long silence, Ding Xiang subconsciously glanced to the left, worried that another space wall might suddenly appear on that open ground.
Fortunately, that worry didn't materialize. They didn't know how much of the wasteland zone the space walls occupied, but for them, the area they could move in was only a quarter left.
Yet even that quarter seemed endless.
They walked for an entire day without seeing the next corner or encountering any players.
After traveling for so long, Ding Xiang, who was already injured, could barely hold on. Xu Huo saw her condition and suggested stopping to rest for a while.
Ding Xiang collapsed to the ground, gasping for a few breaths before pulling out the remaining dry rations. "This time, let's split one piece. At least we can replenish a bit of energy."
Xu Huo took his half, chewed it dry, and then drank a little water.
"This place feels completely normal to me, like an abandoned land that no one could ever set foot in." Ding Xiang said, "Can you sense any changes in spatial power?"
Xu Huo looked to one side. The space wall had no shape, but at close range, one could indeed feel a slight change in spatial power.
The wall surface was stable, but the spatial power inside was fluctuating wildly. This matched the chaotic space the white-haired man had mentioned. However, these rapidly changing spatial forces were encased in a shell, and no matter how the spatial power inside fluctuated, the surface remained calm.
This was different from the chaotic spaces he had experienced before. It seemed relatively safe as long as one didn't enter the wall.
But the space wall wasn't disappearing, and they didn't seem to be returning to the normal wasteland zone. If this went on any longer, they would face more serious problems.
Xu Huo didn't dare to touch the space wall lightly for now. After resting for a while, he said to Ding Xiang, "Nothing has changed after walking for a day. Let's change direction and head northwest."
They had already walked far along the corner. The space wall that had originally moved toward them was long out of sight, but they had never strayed far from the first space wall that appeared. Now, changing direction, it was hard to say what lay ahead on that open ground.
"What if the space there is even more unstable?" Ding Xiang recalled the corpse strung up in the air earlier. That person had been suspended by space blades. Comparatively, the space wall was more stable.
"Without seeing anyone else, we might have already lost contact with Challenge Island." Xu Huo said. Since they entered, the points above their heads had never moved again. "Since it's come to this, we have to gamble."
Ding Xiang subconsciously touched the food on her body and finally nodded.
After resting, they moved diagonally forward from the space wall, embarking on another endless trek.
After walking in the darkness for about half a day, a new space wall finally appeared ahead.
"Honestly, it's almost funny," Ding Xiang said. "Before, I was afraid of running into space walls. Now, I actually feel relieved."
At least this place was changing.
But the space wall ahead was isolated, only about thirty meters long from front to back. It still connected heaven and earth, but it was more like an invisible mirror. They could even touch the side of this wall.
"It's not even as wide as a palm." Ding Xiang gestured.
Xu Huo walked around this space wall. It was very stable, as stable as absolutely transparent glass.
After staring at it for a long time without finding any clues, the two continued forward. In just over ten minutes, they discovered a second identical space wall, similar in size to the previous one, just facing a different direction.
Walking further, they even saw a third and a fourth, with even shorter intervals between them, like invisible monuments planted in the wasteland zone.
The sky was still dark. Just as they were about to continue, Ding Xiang's eyes suddenly moved. "It looks like a shadow is drifting past inside the space wall behind us..."
Before she finished speaking, a figure indeed appeared at the edge of the space wall. The person walked out from one side, seemingly also observing the space wall, and quickly spotted Xu Huo and Ding Xiang not far away!
"It's Love Orange!" Ding Xiang was overjoyed. She quickly rushed over a few steps and shouted at the space wall. The Love Orange on the other side was also shouting something, but when they tried to communicate, they found they couldn't hear each other at all.
