# Chapter 3068: Purpose of Landing on the Island

Ding Xiang and the others couldn't help but laugh at that. Ai Xin Cheng kindly said, "You're about to die yourself, don't worry about other people."

The poisoned player turned his gaze to them, "I can't survive, but don't think you'll have it easy either."

As he spoke, he threw out a compass-shaped instrument. The instrument expanded layer by layer in the high altitude, with each layer splitting into countless small grids!

"Not good!" This exclamation came from the B Team members. The four of them seemed to have seen this move before, and in the blink of an eye, they vanished into the wind and snow.

"Watch me!" Double Head stepped forward and threw a net bag over it, "This is my own jamming device, perfect for this kind of situation..."

Before he could finish speaking, his instrument was torn to shreds by the metal shards shooting out in all directions. Then, waves of powerful space power appeared out of thin air — it was an instrument bomb!

Xu Huo and the others turned and ran. Even with multiple layers of defensive instruments stacked and space movement activated, they were still thrown apart by this force. The explosion's power, no less than a large mushroom cloud, almost instantly drained the surrounding wind and snow. Under the powerful shockwave, even the clouds in the sky seemed to scatter considerably.

Even with such an explosion, Xu Huo and the others had instruments to protect them, plus they had run some distance outward, so they weren't severely injured, nor were they completely scattered. But after Xu Huo and Ding Xiang barely managed to steady themselves, they discovered that everyone else had completely vanished!

"That can't be right. Was there some spatial fluctuation just now?" Ding Xiang looked at Xu Huo, having sensed nothing herself.

Xu Huo nodded slightly. When they were thrown out by the explosion, there had indeed been a slight spatial fluctuation nearby. No wonder even the snow had stopped. However, the Wasteland Zone was still in the darkness of night, still bitterly cold.

"What a shame about those protective suits." Ding Xiang rubbed her arms. For convenience during the arena matches, they had thrown all their backpacks aside, carrying only instruments and a bottle of water. With that explosion, everything was probably lost.

Xu Huo sat down and closed his eyes.

Ding Xiang crouched down beside him and pulled out a small packet of compressed dry food from her clothes, "Want to eat a little?"

"I'm not hungry yet. Let's save it for now." Xu Huo looked out into the empty darkness, "We still have a long time to go hungry."

Seeing how exhausted he seemed, Ding Xiang didn't say more. Instead, she positioned herself with her back to the direction of the wind, shielding him. With nothing else around, this was all she could do.

No one knew how much longer the darkness would last. After only resting for about ten minutes, Xu Huo stood up, "Let's go."

Ding Xiang quickly followed.

In such cold weather, moving was always better than waiting in place.

The further they walked, the more Xu Huo felt the pulsation of space power. The area was still an empty wasteland, but the wind had stopped because massive space walls had appeared around them, seemingly ready to cut through space itself.

The space walls had no physical form, but the overly concentrated space power was impossible to ignore. Xu Huo and Ding Xiang stood beneath one of the walls, looking up at the sky. Though they couldn't see anything, they knew this space wall pierced through the sky, perhaps even cutting the entire island apart.

Xu Huo touched the space wall in front of him: if there was any place on the island hiding the Perfect Potion, it could only be here.

His expression showed no change, but his gaze pierced through the space wall toward the distance. Dr. Wu might have really come to Challenge Island. He hoped the Perfect Potion hadn't been taken by someone else already.

"This place is a bit like the area near the orbit." Ding Xiang said, "The company people really went all out, actually managing to connect to other spaces. Is this considered cross-dimensional? Are there any holes in this wall? Can we get through?"

"I don't think Challenge Island was built by a single company." Xu Huo said, "Maybe they worked with the government to create a place like this, with the purpose of entertaining themselves with players who can no longer contribute their blood and sweat to the districts. Consider it a form of waste utilization."

The excitement on Ding Xiang's face gradually faded. She was quiet for a moment before speaking, "It can't be that the entire 025 District is like this."

"Have you been to the Player's Home?" Xu Huo asked, "I went once. The players living there are relatively normal. So where do the severely degenerated players end up? The government can't be completely unaware, can they?"

Ding Xiang had no response. After a pause, she said, "Since you think the welfare system is fraudulent, why did you still come to the island?"

"Maybe I have ulterior motives?" Xu Huo said meaningfully.

Ding Xiang stared at him for a long moment before asking, "What motives?"

Xu Huo chuckled, "I'm just joking with you."

"You've probably noticed my degeneration. At this point, I'm just taking a gamble."

"All these districts are more or less the same — light and shadow intertwined. I'm just betting to see if I can have a stroke of good luck in the 025 District."

Ding Xiang's lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but in the end, she held back.

The two walked along the space wall.

This massive wall cut the entire Wasteland Zone in half. Walking inside, they could no longer discern direction. Following the wall was their only option, and there was nothing else in the space besides this enormous wall.

Aside from the initial cold, they gradually began to feel hunger.

After enduring for a while, Ding Xiang took out the dry food, split it with Xu Huo, and wrapped the rest back up.

As she twisted the water bottle cap, she said, "Good thing I brought a bottle with me, otherwise where would we find water... Come to think of it, since becoming players, we haven't lived like this in a long time — freezing and starving, like we've turned back into ordinary people without the strength to truss a chicken."

"Maybe the space wall will disappear soon." Xu Huo said, "If you think about it, the time we've spent walking here is basically half of our time since entering the zone."

"I hope so." Ding Xiang nodded.

After resting a while, they continued walking. As they went, they discovered that another space wall was gradually approaching from the other side.

"It was too far away before, so I didn't notice..." Ding Xiang frowned, "These two walls aren't going to merge, are they!"

She instinctively looked up at the sky. Going up wasn't realistic. Then she looked at the ground. The ground seemed no different from before, but she wasn't sure if there would be any abnormal changes in this chaotic space.

"Should we try digging a hole?" she suggested.

"Let's go further away and blast a crater." Xu Huo said.

They chose a spot a kilometer away, leaving a large pit in the ground every so often as they walked. However, when they discovered that the approaching space wall automatically filled in those massive holes, even the faintest unrealistic hope was extinguished.

Ding Xiang adjusted her shoes, "Let's run. Maybe there's an exit ahead."

The two began sprinting at full speed across the wilderness.

The wind whistled past them as they ran. At the same time, they observed the other space wall. Its movement speed hadn't increased, but after such a long time, it was almost upon them.

"Do you have any ideas?" Ding Xiang looked at Xu Huo, "I don't want to be crushed to death."
