Chapter 1902: Time-Type Sensing Instrument
"I don't know for now either." Xu Huo stood up wearily and asked, "Have you called for help from the outside?"
Roz's expression remained unchanged. "We came from another district. It's not easy to contact anyone who can help on short notice. What about you?"
Xu Huo said his situation was similar, but inwardly he was a bit surprised that these people were so stubborn, dragging things out for so long without even asking their families for help.
"Have you seen anyone else?" he asked.
Roz sighed and said, "I had a few companions when I came in, but who knew we'd be forced apart after opening the door? Now we're getting farther and farther apart, and I can't figure out exactly where we've ended up. We can still contact each other, but we can't pinpoint the specific location."
"You're still okay, having a few companions." Xu Huo said, "I'm alone, not even anyone to ask for help."
"Are you from an outer district too?" Roz's expression softened. "What are you thinking now?"
Xu Huo pondered for a moment and said, "I feel like this place is completely sealed off by space. After passing a few courtyards, you can't go back. The space is constantly shifting too. So far, I only know there are four different types of rooms cycling endlessly, but I haven't figured out anything else yet."
After speaking, he turned his gaze to the other man, clearly waiting for his response.
A flicker of emotion passed through Roz's eyes, but he still said, "I think this should be an unfinished time-type instance."
"Time-type instance?" Xu Huo asked in surprise. "What do you mean by unfinished? Is it an ownerless instance?"
Roz sized him up. "Judging by your appearance, you're probably a C-grade player, right? The point isn't about it being ownerless. Taking the instance—let's not even think about it."
Xu Huo quickly waved his hands. "That's not what I meant. Aren't instances naturally formed? Can an unfinished instance still become an instance?"
"Most instances are naturally formed, but they still need the right conditions to take shape. Sometimes it's a special location, sometimes a unique item is born, or sometimes a story happens that's enough to give birth to an instance. Special locations can be man-made. Powerful players can use their expertise to create places that rival instance grounds. This place should be something like that. The reason I say it's unfinished is that it doesn't have an official Instance Authorization, and it's not under player jurisdiction."
Roz explained generously, but he could be sure this was an unfinished instance because it was the residence of a Super Player. It wouldn't be a problem for a Super Player to create such a complex place.
"Can an unfinished instance trap people?" Xu Huo said. "I've tried my ticket several times just now, and I can't get out."
Roz paused for a moment and said, "For powerful players, it's not difficult to carve out a special space within space to complete their own instance. Didn't you say yourself that space is sealed off everywhere here?"
Good grief, so he was just guessing too.
It would be more convincing to say it was a Container Item.
But his guess did have some merit. Since the venue was filled with Time Power, it was very likely a dungeon created by a Super Player. If it was a dungeon, it definitely wouldn't be a Random Instance, because District 011 had Super Instances, and Random Instances couldn't be opened here. If it was a Fixed Instance, Super Players might have some privileges unknown to outsiders that could restrict the sending of tickets. In the worst-case scenario, this place might simply be the grounds of a Super Instance.
But all of that could be set aside for now. The important thing was how to get out.
"Are you a Super Evolver?" he asked in a gentler tone. "I've heard that Temporal Super Evolvers are extremely rare."
Roz gave a slight smile but didn't answer the question.
Seeing him put on an air of mystery, Xu Huo said worriedly, "If that's the case, unless the person who created this instance ground comes back, we'll never get out, right?"
"Someone who can create a time-type instance must be incredibly powerful. Staying here—forget about making the next instance—whether they'll even spare us when they return is another question."
Roz was clearly a bit concerned about this too. After hesitating for a moment, he said, "Which way did you come from just now?"
Xu Huo pointed to the right.
Roz immediately said, "Did you reach the third courtyard? If you open the door again, the space behind it should change, right?"
Xu Huo nodded and said, "Do you want me to open your door?"
Roz took a deep breath. "Are you stupid? If you close the door and open it again, you definitely won't end up in the room I'm in. Didn't I just tell you that even my companions and I didn't meet up going through the same door? This venue must have made specific restrictions for that."
"How about this—open the door I can see."
He continued, "I'll open the door straight ahead and see what's different behind it."
Actually, it wouldn't make any difference, because when Xu Huo opened the door again, he would definitely change rooms. The courtyard he was in was essentially equivalent to part of the courtyard Roz had already passed through, unless the venue, after separating the people, counted the courtyard with the separated room as the first courtyard.
Xu Huo opened the door directly facing Roz. Behind it was a dining room filled with delicacies.
Roz looked at it, took out a round instrument, and tested the different doors. His expression was quite helpless, so he had to leave the room and go to the door opposite. In fact, as soon as he opened one door, the layout of the room changed.
"This isn't right. I've only walked through two courtyards." He turned around in confusion, but when he saw Xu Huo standing at the doorway, he suddenly deflated. "So the courtyards you can't enter are also counted."
Standing at the doorway, Xu Huo could see the new room Roz had opened. It was a dining room in state "1."
Exactly the same type of room, but at a different time.
"Forget it, getting anxious won't help." Roz walked to the middle of the courtyard and sat down. "How about we rest for a while? I haven't eaten anything in a long time."
Xu Huo was also a bit tired, so he simply leaned against the bed to rest.
He took out some jerky that someone from District 010 had given him and ate it while staring at the instrument Roz had placed on his chest. When the other man noticed his gaze, he asked, "Is that a Time Item?"
Roz glanced at him. "No experience, huh? This is a time-type sensing instrument."
"Even Time Instruments aren't common in the game, let alone Time Items. Those are rare, top-tier items. This is just a sensing instrument. The needle has a special Subclass Stone on it that reacts to Time Power."
"The stronger the Time Power, the more the needle sinks."
Xu Huo looked closely. "It looks like an old-fashioned thermometer. Since all the rooms here are the same, isn't the Time Power equal?"
Roz laughed at that. "Even if you asked someone to mold two identical clay figures, they couldn't make them exactly the same. Time Power is such a delicate control—who dares to guarantee they can use it with perfect precision?"
