Chapter 588: A Strange Team
The two of them both slapped their foreheads, feeling that no matter what they said, they couldn't get through to this money-losing tiger in front of them.
"Fine, fine, fine..." The Slacker Dog nodded. "We won't argue with you for now, but tell us, if that person really is Brother Sheep, and he really does know what you're thinking, then what are you going to do?"
The Earth Tiger heard this and flashed a sly grin. "If all my guesses are accurate, then it means he'll work in tandem with me from the inside! We can see if he's left behind any 'seeds'!"
The Earth Sheep still wore an impatient expression, but the Earth Dog slowly furrowed his brows. He extended his long tongue to lick his nose and said, "Elaborate."
"Look..." The Earth Tiger continued gesturing with his hands, "Assuming he knows that I know, then he'll definitely try to shake up the other 'Zodiacs'. At that point, we just need to see who's been shaken!"
"And how are you going to see that?" The Earth Sheep sneered. "Walk down the train past every 'Earth-level' door, knock on each one, and ask, 'Interested in rebellion'?"
"Go to hell!" The Earth Tiger stood up. "Do you think I'm that stupid?"
"Even if you're not that stupid, you're close enough." The Earth Sheep sighed. "Are we really going to gamble everyone's lives on your speculation?"
"But Brother Sheep was always like this!" The Earth Tiger said, a little agitated. "He taught us both that nothing in this world is impossible. As long as there's a sliver of hope, it's a gamble!"
"But we're not him!!" The Earth Sheep slammed the table and also stood up, looking very angry. "The bets Brother Sheep dared to make, we don't dare to make! The games Brother Sheep could win, we can't win! If we were truly like him, how could we still be stuck at 'Earth-level' even now?!"
"Well, we can at least try!! How the hell do you expect to reach 'Heaven' just by running your mouth?!"
The two were about to start a real fight when the Slacker Dog reached out and patted the table. "Stop arguing for now... I have a way to prove whether Money-Losing Tiger's guess is accurate."
"What way?" They both looked at him.
The Slacker Dog wore a lazy expression as he slowly leaned back in his chair. "Didn't I mention it last night? I have some 'like-minded' friends. I've already given them the signal. I told them that if they recently experienced some 'mental turmoil', they should come knock on Money-Losing Tiger's door. Tonight, we can just wait and see."
"Could you be any more cryptic?" The Earth Tiger frowned. "'Mental turmoil', so come knock on my door? Is this a therapy clinic?"
"What do you want me to say? The blunt truth?" The Slacker Dog clasped his hands behind his head. "To be honest, I feel like even being this cryptic is risky. My life is already hanging by a thread."
"You're just messing around too..." The Earth Sheep said. "We're relying on 'waiting', waiting for someone to knock on the door to deduce Brother Sheep's plan?! I think you've all lost your minds... completely lost it..."
"We're crazy, but you're still sane?" The Slacker Dog sneered. "Do you really think you're the 'Sheep'? Have you forgotten you were once human?"
"What...?"
"You might be used to your black fur, but I'm not." The Slacker Dog picked a fresh grape from the table and tossed it into his mouth. "Sit down quietly and wait. If you have the energy, I suggest you stretch your limbs. What we're waiting for might not be a 'comrade', but an 'opponent' as well."
Hearing this, the other two took a deep breath and slowly sat back down in their chairs.
The situation seemed deadlocked. Though they had made grand aspirations, they couldn't take the initiative to strike.
Every 'Zodiac' here could be an enemy.
What the Earth Sheep didn't expect was that within just ten minutes, there was a knock on the Earth Tiger's door.
The knock was very soft, as if the person was afraid of disturbing those inside.
"No way...?" The Earth Sheep looked at the other two when he heard the sound. "What the hell..."
"Money-Losing Tiger..." The Slacker Dog called out. "Is your student coming tonight?"
"He shouldn't be..." The Earth Tiger thought for a moment. "Before we came, I told everyone that I was treating the 'Earth-level' to dinner tonight. They should all be back in their own rooms."
"Then open the door." The Slacker Dog grinned. "Time to reveal the answer."
The Earth Sheep was silent now, squinting at the doorway until the Earth Tiger stood up and opened the door, revealing the figure standing there.
It was an Earth Rat.
"Oh, all the leaders are here?" The Earth Rat smiled. "I hope my late-night visit isn't too presumptuous?"
"You...?" The Earth Tiger felt he wasn't very familiar with this Earth Rat, assuming he must be a friend of the Slacker Dog.
"Corporate Slave Rat." The Earth Dog introduced him. "My 'like-minded' friend."
"You... come in first..." The Earth Tiger looked the Earth Rat up and down. He noticed the other wasn't very tall or imposing; if rebellion was the goal, he probably wouldn't be much of a powerhouse.
The Earth Rat nodded in thanks, then walked inside. He looked around the room and said, "The leaders sure have a lot of leisure time, not eating or sleeping in the dead of night, just sitting here courting death together."
"How the hell are you talking?" The Earth Tiger demanded.
"Oh, leader, don't be so angry. After all, you're a Tiger, and I'm a Rat." The Earth Rat waved his hand.
"You'd do well to remember that."
"Among the Twelve Zodiacs, I rank first, and you rank third." The Earth Rat smiled. "What makes you think you can talk to me like that?"
"You son of a bitch!" The Earth Tiger stepped forward and grabbed the Earth Rat by the collar. This guy had made him furious in just a few sentences. "Don't you know whose room this is? You tired of living?"
"Money-Losing Tiger." The Earth Dog called out. "We finally get a teammate. Don't scare him off."
"Some teammate!" The Earth Tiger glared at the Earth Dog. "What right does he have to talk to me like that?"
"By virtue of his 'wisdom'." The Slacker Dog said. "The games he designs are incredibly ingenious. For many years, no one has been able to find the true solution. That alone earns him a seat at the table."
"You..." The Earth Tiger still felt indignant, but this was a time to recruit help, and this person might very well be a 'seed' planted by Brother Sheep.
"Let go, leader. Thank you." The Earth Rat nodded at the Earth Tiger, then casually broke free from his grip and walked over to sit down at the dining table.
The atmosphere among them grew silent again for a while. After a moment, the Earth Sheep spoke up.
"So, why exactly did you come to this room...?"
"Do you even need to ask?" The Earth Rat chuckled. "Leaders, I encountered a very interesting participant today."
