Chapter 1278: The Cracks in Twinborn

"It's fine." Di Ji winked at Di Hou. "You don't need to be insecure about your appearance."

"Damn, insecure? I was doing fine before I ran into you two. Now I really am starting to feel insecure." Di Hou waved his hand. "I already shaved, combed my hair, and washed my face when I got out. Can we talk less now?"

After saying that, he cleared his throat and spat on the ground.

Di Ji had a feeling this wasn't really about shaving and washing his face.

As soon as he finished speaking, the two "Heaven Ranks" attacked again.

A few medium-sized ores flew across the room, and thin vines wrapped around the two "Earth Ranks."

They exchanged blows. The boy and girl before them looked thin and weak, but their every move seemed practiced. Di Ji was quickly knocked to the ground, and Di Hou managed to hold out a little longer before being sent flying as well.

"Damn..." Di Hou flipped himself up from the ground. "They seem a bit stronger than before..."

Di Ji stood up as well. She observed the state of the two "Heaven Ranks," feeling that the "Rage" had accumulated to a certain level. Then she looked at Di Hou and winked at him.

Di Hou nodded, cleared his throat, and said to the two "Heaven Ranks," "Hey, can you two even do this? Tian Hou, let's set aside the 'Twinborn Blossoms' you can't even use. You've got 'Original Object,' 'Rampant Growth,' and then Tian Ji with his 'Clever Object' and 'Lush Wood'... All these abilities sound like they're meant to work together, so why does your fighting look like a joke? With all these 'Immortal Arts,' you haven't even managed to seriously injure us."

"We were careless before..." Tian Hou said. "We won't be next time... right?"

She looked at Tian Ji, only to find his expression still grim. He was staring into Di Hou's eyes, as if something gave him pause.

"Tian Ji, aren't you going to use your 'trump card'?" Tian Hou said. "These two aren't easy to deal with... There's something about them..."

Tian Hou felt an inexplicable irritation when fighting these two. Whenever Di Ji touched her, it disrupted her 'Conviction,' and that Di Hou seemed able to predict which 'Immortal Art' she was about to use, dodging in advance.

Even the densest person would have sensed by now that these two "Earth Ranks" were unusual. They were clearly carrying some invisible 'Immortal Art.'

But how had "Earth Ranks" managed to smuggle 'Immortal Arts' onto the 'Train'?

Had no one noticed anything strange about them in all the years from 'Human Rank' to 'Earth Rank'?

"My 'trump card'... right now..." Tian Ji still looked troubled. "Tian Hou, why don't you undo the 'Twinborn Blossoms' first..."

"Undo the 'Twinborn Blossoms'... What do you mean?" Tian Hou frowned. "Are you saying I'm taking too much damage and dragging you down?"

"No..." Tian Ji was getting annoyed too. "I've taken some damage too, and it's been reflected back to you. That means we're taking double the damage. It's not helping in battle."

"That's not what you said when you cast 'Twinborn Blossoms'!" Tian Hou exclaimed. "You said connecting us would help us better understand the unity of yin and yang, and now you want to undo it?"

"Can you focus on what matters...?" Tian Ji raised his voice. "Don't you want to beat them?!"

"Ooh, ooh, ooh." Di Hou laughed. "Youngsters, don't fight now. When we first walked in, you two were speaking in sync. Now you're arguing separately? Breaking up on the spot?"

Seeing Di Hou fanning the flames, Di Ji also laughed. "Don't talk nonsense! Their relationship is great. Now they're heart to heart, life to life. If one dies, they both die. Their bond is way deeper than ours."

"Oh? Is that so?" Di Hou smiled. "My mistake. I thought they'd fallen out."

Hearing Di Ji and Di Hou's back-and-forth banter, Tian Ji and Tian Hou's expressions darkened even further.

"But Tian Hou, little sister, you really are puzzling." Di Ji crossed her arms. "With a perfectly good 'Twinborn Blossoms,' how come you can only use 'Life Link'? Doesn't it have many other wonderful uses? Heal yourselves a bit, make us take some damage."

"You..." Tian Hou was clearly furious. The anger she could barely contain now surged even more. "Do you really think that just because you can injure us, you can beat a 'Heaven'?"

"That's right." Di Ji nodded. "If I can hurt you, I can kill you. And now that your lives are linked, it makes things so much easier for big sister."

"You delusional old man and old woman make me sick..." Tian Hou gritted her teeth.

Hearing this, Di Hou gasped sharply and frantically waved his hands at Tian Hou.

Tian Hou frowned. "What? Why are you waving at me?"

"You foolish child!" Di Hou said nervously. "You can say whatever you want about my looks, but you..."

"Shut up..." Veins bulged on Di Ji's forehead, but her expression remained a sweet smile. "Little thing, did you just call me... an 'old woman'?"

"With a face as strange as yours, how am I supposed to know how old you are?" Tian Hou laughed bitterly, her delicate face now twisted with rage. "This old sister... there's no way you're younger than me, is there? I'd like to ask you, do you need to wear makeup primer when you put makeup on your feathers?"

Di Ji nodded slowly. "Fine, fine, fine... No one else make a move. I'm going to tear this little bitch's mouth apart myself."

The moment she finished speaking, she charged forward, grappling with Tian Hou in a chaotic, unrestrained brawl. They grabbed each other's hair, both clearly enraged.

Di Ji completely abandoned any pretense of dignity. "Let me show you whether I wear makeup primer or not!" She found an opening and raked three bloody scratches across Tian Hou's face. Blood immediately splattered across Tian Ji's face as well.

"Ah!!" He cried out in panic. "Tian Hou! Undo the 'Twinborn Blossoms' now!"

"You..." Tian Hou shouted while wrestling with Di Ji, "Tian Ji, if you don't use that damned 'trump card' of yours... I'll drag you down to die with me..."

Di Hou watched the two of them with interest, then shot Tian Ji a meaningful look. "Young man, I think you should just show us what you've got."

"You... what do you know..." Tian Ji ground his teeth. "If I reveal my ability... things will get... troublesome..."

"Troublesome how?" Di Hou said. "You want to undo the 'Twinborn Blossoms' to save yourself, but Tian Hou won't agree. You should know that by now. The two of you can no longer synchronize. She's far angrier than you are, and even her 'Conviction' has been affected. Staying connected will only make one plus one less than two."

Tian Ji's expression wavered, clearly hesitating.
