Chapter 1206: Black Sheep
Black Sheep sent Xiao Ran off with a smile on his face, then turned back to look at the crowd at the other end of the corridor.
He had heard that he would have helpers, but he had never imagined he would have so many. At least a hundred people were clustered in that corridor, making this look nothing like a covert operation—it looked more like an all-out war.
Black Sheep found himself caught in a dilemma. He wasn't sure if that large group of "participants" were the helpers White Sheep had arranged for him. If he walked over and they recognized his "Zodiac" appearance and all fled, things would become even more troublesome.
It had been some time since the "Zodiacs" finished their shifts. Most people were resting in their rooms. For now, only a few "Human-level" individuals wandering the corridor had noticed this bizarre scene. They probably had a few minutes before the situation was fully exposed.
As Black Sheep expected, more and more "Zodiacs" came to the corridor, saw this sight, and stopped in their tracks.
Among them were genuine "rebels" and many "participants" scattered throughout.
At this moment, the team truly understood how difficult this "rebellion" operation was.
There was only one path on the entire "train." Once blocked, everyone's progress was hindered.
Black Sheep paced back and forth anxiously. His position was somewhat passive now—after all, he didn't recognize any of his teammates' appearances. He could only wait for the first person to show up and then ask them about the situation.
Just as he was thinking, he saw a door not far away open. A gaudily colored pheasant emerged with an old man in tow, looked around, and then headed straight for him. Behind them followed about ten people, all "participants."
"Oh...?" Black Sheep slowly raised an eyebrow, feeling that this time the right person had arrived.
As she walked, Ground Chicken sighed and grumbled, "Even if White Sheep is handsome, he can't just do this... Isn't such a big scene too dangerous?"
Black Sheep was momentarily at a loss for words, then said, "You're the first to arrive."
"I would have been here earlier if not for all the noise outside," Ground Chicken said irritably. "The old man behind me is your problem now. I'm leaving."
"Leaving...?" Black Sheep was stunned.
"What else am I supposed to do?" Ground Chicken crossed her arms. "Should I stand among this crowd at such a dangerous time? I'm going to hide first."
Black Sheep chuckled lightly. "Didn't your friend Ground Bull say it would be a 'positional kill'? If you leave, what about Sky Chicken?"
Hearing this, Ground Chicken stepped forward a few paces, pulled Black Sheep aside, and whispered, "You and I both know the 'positional kill' is fake. Now you're asking me what to do about Sky Chicken? How should I know what to do about her?"
"Yes, we both know the positional kill is fake." Black Sheep narrowed his eyes. "But others don't. You're the first to arrive, yet you haven't gone to the 'Sky-level' rooms. How will your friend's little scheme work when others hear about this? Won't her trick fall apart?"
Ground Chicken slowly rose onto her tiptoes, staring into Black Sheep's eyes as she spoke deliberately, "You're both sheep, but you have no class."
"Oh." Black Sheep nodded, expressionless. "So I have no class."
Ground Chicken snorted coldly and stepped back.
"You're not unaware of what Sky Chicken and Sky Monkey are like. Those two are practically conjoined twins," she sighed again. "If I go alone, I'll definitely run into both of them. Even if I'm just pretending to make a kill, I at least need a monkey assigned to me, right?"
"Don't you trust Brother Sheep's methods?" Black Sheep said. "The 'Monkey' will definitely be there, just not here yet."
"Then let me make this clear first." Ground Chicken pointed a feathery finger at Black Sheep, wagging it. "I have high standards for my partner's looks. The monkey better be handsome, so I'll have the motivation to lay down my life. As for looks, I don't expect him to match White Sheep, but at the very least, he can't be uglier than you. Got it?"
Black Sheep felt somewhat helpless—after all, he couldn't tell if this was a compliment or an insult. "What good does it do for me to hear this? I'm not the one picking the monkey, and it's not based on looks either. But who knows... maybe Brother Sheep considered this."
"Considered this?!" Ground Chicken grew even more irritated. "That Brother Sheep of yours is good at everything, but when it comes to matters between men and women, he's as dense as a log! How could he possibly think of something like this for me?"
"If he didn't, he didn't." Black Sheep sighed too. "You're being sent to kill someone with that monkey, not to live your life with him. Besides... how handsome can a monkey be?"
"The Great Sage, Equal of Heaven," Ground Chicken replied. "At the very least, a Six-Eared Macaque."
Black Sheep lowered his head again and rubbed his own horns, feeling that every woman he encountered today was more troublesome than the last.
"Enough," Ground Chicken said. "Don't worry about me. I'm going to find some sisters and take a stroll nearby. When the time is right, I'll go find Sky Chicken."
Watching her wave goodbye and walk away, Black Sheep didn't know how to persuade her. After all, every single "Zodiac" who chose to rebel was a problem character without exception.
Black Sheep could only shift his focus back to the old man in front of him. The old man was covered in dirt and dust, making it hard to imagine what kind of life he usually led.
"Are you the leader?" Black Sheep asked.
"Yeah..." The old man nodded, stepped forward, and grinned, exposing his teeth. "What do we do next?"
"Wait for people," Black Sheep said. "There's still some time. However many teams show up, that's how many I'll lead forward."
The old man nodded, but felt that standing here with over ten people was too conspicuous.
"Uh... is there somewhere we can hide?" the old man asked again.
"Hide?" Black Sheep chuckled. "Hide from what?"
"Our situation seems a bit too dangerous..."
Just as he finished speaking, a Centaur stepped out from a door behind Black Sheep and immediately widened his eyes.
"Ah! How are there 'participants' here?" the Centaur shouted, then quickly turned back. "Hey! Come quick—"
Black Sheep turned around, and in the next second, his figure shot forward.
By the time the old man and his group could see clearly again, Black Sheep had already removed the Centaur's mask and was pinching his mouth shut.
"W-wait..." The Centaur came to his senses and squeezed out his voice in panic. "I was wrong... I... I didn't see anything..."
"Too late."
Black Sheep slowly extended his thumb and shoved it into the other's mouth. Then, under the old man's watchful gaze, he used his finger to pierce a hole straight through the Centaur's tongue.
Screams mixed with blood sprayed from the Centaur's mouth. It was clear this man wouldn't survive.
The old man, who had been all smiles just moments before, now went expressionless. It seemed the "Zodiac" who was supposed to rendezvous with "Extreme Path" was no friendly character.
"As long as I'm here, there's no need to hide," Black Sheep said.
