Chapter 29: Begging for Mercy

"So the Red Diamond Crystal was fake!" Chegwin hovered high in the sky, his green robe flapping in the wind. The muscles around his eyes twitched as he involuntarily looked down at Brody's corpse in the forest below. "The Demon Castle guaranteed the information was absolutely correct, and I investigated it myself. The residents of Lot Tribe also confirmed it! So the Red Diamond Crystal was definitely a treasure. Where is the real Red Diamond Crystal?"

Chegwin had done extensive research on this intelligence.

"Sir, there is only one divine spark inside Brody's body. We found out earlier that he had more than one divine clone. The real Red Diamond Crystal was definitely taken away by his main body," a Seven Star Demon behind Chegwin transmitted mentally.

"I know!" Chegwin's eyes were filled with gloom as he snorted coldly.

Chegwin was no fool. He could guess Brody's intentions. In hell, there were countless Lower and Middle Gods, and even fusing a divine spark to become a High God was nothing special. Many gods would rather die than live in obscurity, preferring to die a glorious, spectacular death!

Rather than dying silently and without any value in some robbery or fight.

This Brody had indeed died in a way that made a bunch of Seven Star Demons remember him!

"Creating a divine clone to toy with a group of powerful beings. Hmph. He made this divine clone deliberately to attract our attention and keep us here. His main body has probably already taken his wife and fled to who knows where." Although Chegwin was furious, he deeply remembered the name Brody.

In fact, if Brody's divine clone had crushed the space ring...

Given Chegwin's abilities, if he had calmed down, he would have guessed the truth! Moreover, the fact that Brody had a divine clone could be easily found out by checking in Lot Tribe. From that, it would be easy to deduce that Brody's main body had slipped away with the Red Diamond Crystal. Knowing he was going to die, why would he waste the Red Diamond Crystal by taking it with him?

Since he couldn't hide it from anyone, he might as well deliberately leave the space ring behind to mock the many powerful beings.

"I've been ruined by this Brody." Chegwin's heart was bitter, and he couldn't help but glance at Linley and Bebe in the distance. "If I had gotten the real Red Diamond Crystal, offending this Linley would have been worth it. But I didn't get it... Given Linley's personality, he probably won't let me off easily."

Earlier on the planar battlefield, although Chegwin and Linley had some past grievances, the main conflict was between Linley and Magnus. Chegwin, Uman, and others were just supporting characters. Before today, Linley had no particular grudge against Chegwin and didn't bother to go after him.

Chegwin understood this, which was why he didn't flee when he saw Linley earlier.

But now, the situation was different!

"I openly mocked and toyed with this Linley... What will he do to me?" Chegwin's heart was uneasy. He wanted to flee immediately, but Linley and Bebe clearly weren't paying attention to him at the moment. If he fled now, it might attract Linley's attention, and Linley might catch him directly.

So, Chegwin silently stayed in the distance, hoping Linley wouldn't notice him and would just leave.

Thus, Chegwin secretly watched Linley and Bebe from afar.

Not only Chegwin, but also the hundreds of Seven Star Demons and Six Star Demons around were watching, eager to see... how Linley would retaliate against Chegwin!

"Let's go!" Linley's words made Chegwin overjoyed.

"Sir, they're leaving," the two Seven Star Demons were also overjoyed and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Huh?" Bebe couldn't help but ask, "Boss, are we really just leaving like that?"

"Oh... right, I almost forgot something." Linley was about to leave but turned around with a smile, looking at Chegwin in the distance. "Bebe, thanks for reminding me, or I would have forgotten. Bebe, who was it that said, 'If you have the guts, go ahead and banish me into the chaotic space stream'?"

Bebe immediately played along and sighed dramatically: "Boss, who else could it be? Of course, it's the fearless Mr. Chegwin... Who else would dare to enter the chaotic space stream?"

Linley and Bebe's exchange made Chegwin and his two subordinates' faces change drastically.

"Run!" Chegwin decisively transmitted mentally.

Instantly, in the sky above the Neville Mountains, Chegwin and his two Seven Star Demon subordinates scattered in different directions, fleeing at top speed.

"Whoosh!"

Like a dream, several phantom images appeared in the air. A blurry figure reached Chegwin in an instant. With a loud "Bang!", Chegwin's fleeing body came to an abrupt halt and was thrown backward. But the blurry figure flashed again and appeared in front of Chegwin's flying body.

"Mr. Chegwin, where are you running off to without a word?" Linley had a faint smile on his face as he looked at Chegwin.

But Chegwin could feel the coldness in Linley's eyes!

How could Linley let go of what Chegwin had just done? If he did, where would his face be?

Just like a Sovereign, although they didn't like to interfere in the affairs of gods, if a god dared to mock a Sovereign, obstruct their important matters, or offend their dignity, the Sovereign would not easily let the blasphemer off! As a peak-level god, Linley's status alone would not allow others to easily blaspheme him!

"Lord Linley." Chegwin forced a smile. "I, I was momentarily confused."

"You're not confused." Linley shook his head. "What are you confused about? You're very smart! Didn't you say that even if I banished you into the chaotic space stream, the great Sovereign of Light would step in and save you?"

Chegwin's face turned ugly.

The Sovereign of Light saving him?

That was only if he had the suspected Sovereign's divine artifact, the Red Diamond Crystal. For an item suspected to be a Sovereign's divine artifact, the Sovereign of Light would act and go through the trouble of saving him from the chaotic space stream! But without the Red Diamond Crystal, the Sovereign of Light wouldn't necessarily go to save him immediately.

What status did a Sovereign have?

Perhaps when they were in a good mood, they might save him as a side task. But would that be a hundred million years, or a trillion years later?

"Lord Linley, you are a Paragon. It's not worth getting angry over someone like me," Chegwin quickly said. "I, Chegwin, am willing to offer all my wealth and Sovereign power to you, Lord Linley. Please forgive me this once." Chegwin looked at Linley with hopeful eyes.

But Linley just looked at Chegwin silently.

Chegwin's heart was uneasy.

"Wealth? Sovereign power? Do you think I lack these?" Linley finally spoke.

"Lord Linley, tell me what you want me to do, and I'll do it!" Chegwin quickly said.

Chegwin no longer cared about face at this moment. He knew very well... he didn't have a divine clone outside. So if he fell into the chaotic space stream, even if the Sovereign of Light came looking for him, the chaotic space stream was too vast. How would the Sovereign find him? The effort required to find him would be enormous!

Would the Sovereign of Light search the boundless chaotic space stream for him?

If he were a Paragon, the Sovereign might not mind the effort to search. But he, Chegwin, wasn't qualified to make the Sovereign do that!

"If I fall into the chaotic space stream, I might be permanently banished there. There, no one will talk to me. I won't see a second person. I'll just be swept around by the chaotic space stream, living a life worse than death." Chegwin understood this clearly. "Lord Linley?" Chegwin was now obedient and respectful.

"Boss, why waste words with him?" Bebe snorted coldly, then stared at Chegwin. "Chegwin, do you think you can just walk away like nothing happened? Dream on! If you, Chegwin, offended a Sovereign, or even stole something from a Sovereign, do you think begging for mercy would make the Sovereign let you off? My boss may not have the same face as a Sovereign, but he's not someone to be bullied either."

Linley smiled slightly, raised his hand like a blade, and then slashed to the side---

"Rip!"

Like tearing cloth, the surrounding space instantly split open, creating a terrifying crack a hundred meters long and several meters wide. A shocking suction force appeared around them.

"Linley, the Sovereign won't let you off!!!" Chegwin's roar echoed as he tried to flee.

"Swish." Linley moved like teleportation, grabbing Chegwin by the neck and throwing him like a beast into the space crack. Chegwin's furious roar, "The Sovereign won't let you off!!!" still echoed in the air as the terrifying space crack quickly healed.

Linley glanced at it.

"That Chegwin, if it weren't for the Sovereign artifact protecting him, I would have killed him," Bebe said hatefully. "Now that he's banished, the Sovereign of Light will probably save him."

Clearly, everything Chegwin had done had angered Bebe.

"It's not that easy to save him, unless he has a divine clone outside," Linley said, scanning the large group of stunned Seven Star Demons and Six Star Demons in the distance. Then he said, "Bebe, there's nothing meaningful here anymore. Let's go back. Oh, first, let's send those two back."

Linley and Bebe, along with the round-faced youth and the cold old man, left in a metallic lifeform.

In the sky, hundreds of powerful beings and the residents of Lot Tribe watched this scene in awe.

"So powerful. This is a Paragon High God! With a casual slash, without even using Sovereign power, just an ordinary slash, he created such a terrifying space crack. When will my material attack have even a fraction of Lord Linley's power?"

"That Chegwin, according to rumors, is ranked high among the 108 Asuras of hell. Chegwin alone could kill all of us, but in front of Lord Linley, did you see? Chegwin was like a baby, caught, unable to resist, and thrown into the space crack. Lord Linley is too strong!"

"Earlier, Chegwin was so arrogant. Haha, look at his ending now."

"He deserved it! He didn't know his place. Daring to provoke Lord Linley? That's like snatching food from a tiger's mouth. He was asking for death."

In the eyes of these powerful beings in hell, Linley punishing Chegwin was only natural. If Linley hadn't punished him, people would have talked behind his back. As for tracking down Brody's divine clone, there was no way to do that. The most likely possibility was that Brody had left through a teleportation channel! But taking a teleportation channel didn't require asking for names or other information. Moreover, every year in hell, many people used teleportation channels for trade or other reasons.

How could they track Brody?

Besides, Linley didn't have the authority to do so. The armies guarding the various teleportation arrays were under the Sovereigns.

In the Divine Light Plane, the Divine Prison Sea!

"The endless, deep blue seawater rippled. The Divine Prison Sea was the largest ocean in the Divine Light Plane, vast in scope. Deep in the ocean were countless islands like stars.

At this moment, two figures were locked in combat above the ocean, occasionally shattering space.

"Ooh!"

A phantom of a massive fire phoenix, thousands of meters long, appeared behind a burly man with fiery red short hair. The red mole on his forehead lit up, and a red beam shot out, instantly crossing the sky and heading toward the black-robed, long-haired man opposite him.

The black-robed, long-haired man let out a low growl, and layers of water curtains appeared before him.

"Pfft---"

The water curtains were pierced one after another until the red light entered the black-robed man's body. His body trembled, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Brenner, let's stop here," the black-robed man quickly said. In terms of speed, he was no match for his opponent. A fast person could run if they couldn't win, but a slow person could only endure or beg for mercy.

"Dream on." The fiery red-haired burly man snorted angrily, his red sickle suddenly slashing out.

"Rip!" Space tore open again.

But at that moment---

"Whoosh!" A green phantom flew out of the space crack, heading straight for the fiery red-haired burly man. The burly man was shocked: "Something flew out of the space crack? Something that wasn't damaged in the chaotic space stream?" He instinctively reached out and grabbed it.

A green piece of paper appeared in his hand.
