Chapter 37: Rescuing Others
The cave vortex continued to churn, its violent suction force sweeping across the entire pit area. Linley and the others outside the pit stared in shock, utterly dumbfounded. The four mid-level gods, Jenkin and his group, had been helplessly sucked in without any resistance—this scene was simply too horrifying.
Linley fixed his gaze on the cave vortex, his expression turning serious.
Olivia narrowed his eyes slightly and muttered quietly, "Linley, this cave seemed quiet just a moment ago. Earlier, the pit was covered in a thick layer of violet crystals. How did it suddenly produce such terrifying and eerie suction power?"
Linley felt a chill run down his spine as well. "This is the Infernal Realm. To create ripples in the space here, I could manage it with my full-strength 'Mirage Shadow' technique. But this cave, just by its suction alone, forms a spatial ripple vortex... This suction force..."
A single sword strike could only produce spatial ripples when condensed into one blow.
But mere suction creating a spatial ripple vortex? This suction force was far too terrifying.
"Even a high-level god probably couldn't withstand this suction," Linley thought silently.
"Hey, boss, why was that pit covered in so many violet crystals earlier?" Bebe asked, puzzled. "And even now, there are still plenty of violet crystals embedded deep in the pit walls. Where did all those crystals come from?" Bebe and the others hadn't witnessed the scene of violet crystals erupting from the cave.
"Let's get farther away from here," Delia said, biting her lip. "I have a feeling this place is too eerie."
"You're right. Let's move away."
Linley led Delia and the others away from the pit. But when they were about several dozen meters from the pit, they stopped. Linley suddenly turned his head back toward the pit and frowned. "Huh? The suction sound stopped?"
"It's gone," Bebe said, moving closer to the pit. He then turned to Linley in surprise. "Boss, come quick! The cave's suction has stopped. It's calm again."
Linley, Delia, and Olivia exchanged puzzled glances and also moved closer.
Sure enough—
The massive pit was eerily quiet, looking completely ordinary. If they hadn't witnessed the earlier scene, they wouldn't have suspected any danger from this pit.
"It seems... the danger is gone," Delia observed after a moment.
"Boom~" Suddenly, like a terrifying beast roaring, a dreadful howling sound erupted. At the same time, countless violet lights burst densely from the cave, spraying out in all directions like a hailstorm.
Some shot straight up into the sky, others flew diagonally toward the horizon. Countless violet lights vanished into the white mist above.
But many violet crystals, flying at shallow angles, scraped against the cave mouth and slammed into the pit walls. Like metal striking metal, they collided with the violet crystals already embedded in the walls, rebounding and finally tumbling into the pit.
In moments—
The pit was covered in a thick layer of violet crystals.
This sudden scene startled Linley and the others, but soon they understood much of what was happening.
"Ah, I get it now. All those mid-level and low-level gods collecting violet crystals at the edge of the Misty Sea—those crystals probably flew out from caves like this!" Bebe cheered. "So many violet crystals flying out, look—the pit is already covered in a thick layer in no time."
Linley remained silent.
From the Misty Sea to entering the Violet Crystal Mountain Range, Linley had fully experienced the astonishing gravitational pull of the mountain range. Even a high-level god couldn't resist it, yet those violet crystals could not only resist it but also fly out.
Especially the one that had pierced through his Ripple Armor—and that was after it had slowed down mid-flight.
"What secrets lie hidden in this Violet Crystal Mountain Range?" Linley stared at the erupting cave mouth. "Whether it's erupting or sucking in, the force is absurdly strong... If some high-level god could unleash power as strong as this eruption, they'd be practically invincible."
A powerful being, if they could unleash such force, could casually shoot a handful of violet crystals and turn an opponent's head into a sieve.
"Even a god doesn't have such strength. But nature does!" Linley marveled inwardly. Olivia, Bebe, and Delia were equally awestruck. But just then, a roar echoed from afar—a roar they recognized all too well. It was the roar of a violet crystal beast!
"Violet crystal beast!" Linley and the others all changed expression, turning toward the source of the sound.
In the distance, two figures were fleeing for their lives, pursued by a massive violet crystal beast over ten meters long. The beast roared as it relentlessly attacked with its claws, fangs, and forehead. The two fleeing figures were in dire straits!
"It's them," Linley said in surprise.
The two were none other than the high-level gods they had met when first arriving at the Violet Crystal Mountain Range—Galan and Jarrod.
At that moment, the brown-haired woman Galan and the silver-haired man Jarrod were in a terrible state. They had been unlucky enough to encounter a violet crystal beast. Or perhaps they were lucky—they had only encountered one.
"Roar~" The violet crystal beast opened its massive maw and lunged to bite Galan.
Galan shouted in anger, thrusting a black, flame-wreathed sword straight into the beast's mouth. Though the beast was immune to physical attacks, having a divine artifact stabbed into its mouth still hurt.
The beast immediately shut its mouth and lowered its head, charging at Galan with the horn on its forehead.
"Clang!" The flaming sword struck the beast's forehead but only penetrated slightly.
"Oooh~" The beast grew even more enraged, its eyes burning like flames as it accelerated toward Galan. "Ssshh~" The horn tore through the air with a piercing screech as the beast aimed to shatter Galan's skull.
Galan's face turned pale.
"Bang!" A battle blade suddenly appeared, slamming into the beast's forehead. It was Jarrod. Using the force of the strike, he pulled Galan and fled faster.
"Run faster. Don't get tangled up with this monster," Jarrod transmitted urgently.
"I know we can't get tangled, but you know how fast this thing is—it's faster than us! I don't want to fight it, but it won't leave me alone!" Galan replied in frustration and helplessness. She couldn't find any weakness in the beast.
Jarrod was equally helpless.
This monster was immune to both soul and physical attacks, and it was incredibly fast. How could such a creature exist in the world? It seemed to defy balance. Fortunately, these violet crystal beasts had very low intelligence and couldn't use any profound mysteries of the laws.
"Roar~"
A violet blur closed in on Jarrod and Galan. They could feel the beast's hot breath brushing against the skin on their necks.
"This violet crystal beast is too fast." Jarrod and Galan felt a sense of despair. Then a gust of wind came.
"Dodge!" Jarrod shoved Galan hard, sending them both in opposite directions.
"Slash!" Sharp claws tore through Jarrod's body, severing half his arm. Blood sprayed everywhere. The violet crystal beast raised its head and roared in excitement. "Roar~" At the same time, it leaped, aiming to kill Jarrod in one blow.
Jarrod's severed left arm was rapidly regenerating.
"Dammit, how is this thing so fast?" Jarrod was on the verge of tears.
Seeing this, Galan didn't hesitate to rush over. Jarrod immediately moved closer to her. Together, they could barely hold their own against the beast. If one of them died, the other wouldn't survive either.
"Galan, what do we do? This beast can even distinguish my clones. Do we have to sacrifice a divine clone?" Jarrod transmitted urgently.
"Don't resort to that unless it's the last option," Galan transmitted back.
Using the 'Clone Technique' was useless against the violet crystal beast. It could somehow distinguish the real body from hundreds of illusions, which was simply unbelievable.
So getting entangled with a violet crystal beast was indeed a huge problem.
"Someone's there!" Galan and Jarrod spotted Linley and the others not far away. When they saw Delia, their eyes lit up.
"It's that high-level god demon, Delia!" Galan and Jarrod were overjoyed. Without hesitation, they flew straight toward Linley and the others. In their minds, teaming up with a high-level god demon would improve their situation.
"Delia is still with those mid-level gods. Those mid-level gods are lucky to still be alive," Galan and Jarrod thought as they rushed toward Linley's group.
In terms of speed, Galan and Jarrod were no match for the violet crystal beast.
As they fled, the beast's claws kept 'caressing' them. Jarrod and Galan were covered in blood and wounds.
"Trouble," Bebe muttered.
"Bebe, let's go drive that violet crystal beast away," Linley transmitted.
Linley and Bebe shot out almost simultaneously, brushing past Galan and Jarrod. The two high-level gods were stunned. "Are these mid-level gods suicidal?" As they dodged, they turned to look back—
A strange violet sword light streaked through the air, striking the beast's horn. It sliced the horn off and then "Pfft!" cut into the beast's hard skull, causing it to howl in agony.
At the same time—
"Slash!" Bebe's black dagger also struck the beast's neck, gouging out a large chunk of violet crystal.
The pain drove the beast mad. Its two fierce front claws reflexively swiped at Linley and Bebe's heads, as if trying to crush their skulls. But Linley and Bebe dodged nimbly.
Two sharp sounds rang out as the claws still caught their shoulders.
Linley and Bebe's bodies trembled, and they were knocked back several meters.
The violet crystal beast stared at Linley and Bebe with wide, crimson eyes in shock. Their shoulders showed no injury at all. The beast's claws hadn't left a scratch on Linley's dragon scales or Bebe's body.
The violet crystal beast hesitated, looking at Linley and Bebe. Then, with a low growl, it turned and fled.
Galan and Jarrod, the two high-level gods, stared in disbelief. "That monster... ran away?" They had never heard of a violet crystal beast retreating. In battles with these beasts, even high-level gods suffered greatly.
After all, how many people had bodies as tough as Linley and Bebe?
Galan and Jarrod exchanged a glance, shock evident in their eyes. They had never cared about mid-level gods, but just now, these two mid-level gods had driven the violet crystal beast away.
"Thank you both for your help. We won't forget this kindness," Galan said sincerely.
Bebe glanced at her and muttered discontentedly, "Help? You ran right to us. If we hadn't acted, that beast would have attacked us anyway."
Galan and Jarrod smiled awkwardly.
They had run toward Linley's group hoping Delia would intervene. After all, violet crystal beasts attacked humans on sight. Dragging others into the fight was indeed unfair of them, and they felt embarrassed.
"We were forced into it. We hope you don't mind," Jarrod quickly added.
Both Jarrod and Galan understood that Linley and Bebe were far more useful in the Violet Crystal Mountain Range than high-level gods like themselves. As they spoke, they secretly glanced at Linley and Bebe's shoulders, shocked. "Those two took a direct hit from a violet crystal beast without injury? What kind of bodies do they have?"
