Chapter 47: Angel Battle Formation
It was now late autumn, early winter. The cold night wind howled like icy knives as an elite cavalry unit galloped swiftly.
“Hyah, hyah!”
Wearing simple armor, Albert led the charge, racing quickly along the desolate official road outside the city. Dozens of cavalrymen followed closely behind. A middle-aged man rode beside Albert—the only Level 9 expert under Albert’s command.
As for Lan Dan and the other five, they wore ordinary knight’s armor and helmets, blending into the cavalry formation. From the outside, there was no way to tell Lan Dan’s group apart from the other knights.
“Remember this,” Lan Dan said in a low voice to the five beside him. “When we catch up to Linley, and Albert gives the order to attack, follow the others and surround him. While Linley isn’t paying attention, set up the Angel Battle Formation. And remember—don’t attack first under any circumstances. Wait for my order.”
“Yes, sir.”
The other five nodded.
A faint smile curled at the corner of Lan Dan’s mouth. “Hyah!”
The sound of hooves rang out continuously, leaving a trail of dust on the official road. In the blink of an eye, they had traveled far into the distance… Linley had deliberately slowed his pace to wait for this group, so naturally, after riding for a while, Albert and his men spotted Linley’s figure.
“He’s up ahead!” Albert was overjoyed and shouted loudly, “Quick, hurry!”
The knights also began yelling, urging their horses to even greater speed. Amid the thunderous clatter of hooves, this group of riders quickly overtook Linley.
“Remember, hold tight to Hei Lu’s neck. Hei Lu will take you to my place first,” Linley instructed Jenny in a low voice.
Jenny looked at Linley with concern. “Brother Lei, what about you?”
“Don’t worry. Just dealing with a few troublesome flies.” Linley glanced at the Blackscale Cloud Leopard, Hei Lu, and sent a soul message: “Hei Lu, go. Remember, protect Jenny.”
“Roar~~~”
Hei Lu let out a proud roar, then slowly accelerated, eventually turning into a black blur at an astonishing speed, disappearing into the distance at a pace Albert and his men could never hope to match.
“Rumble***” The group of knights completely blocked Linley. They didn’t stop the Blackscale Cloud Leopard’s departure, nor could they have stopped it in time. As for Lan Dan’s six, they were more than happy to see the black leopard leave.
After all, their target was Linley!
“Jenny!” Seeing this, Albert couldn’t help but grow furious.
Then Albert glared at Linley and sneered, “You brat, you let your magical beast take Jenny and run? Hmph, let me tell you—Jenny is mine. As for you… I’ll send you to the underworld! Hahaha… All of you, attack!” Albert pointed angrily at Linley.
The sound of hooves suddenly grew urgent as dozens of knights immediately surrounded Linley.
But Linley, standing in the middle of the road, didn’t seem to care at all. BeBe, meanwhile, stood proudly on Linley’s shoulder, looking at the group of knights with his small, glossy black eyes full of disdain.
“My cousin Jenny is someone you can touch? Look at your own status!” Albert said arrogantly, feeling that everything was under his control.
Linley, however, glanced coldly at the surrounding knights.
“I was planning to deal with the people from the Radiant Church, but instead, I’ve stirred up a bunch of useless trash,” Linley said with a faint shake of his head. But at that moment—
“Boss.” BeBe suddenly fixed his gaze on one of them. “That Light Blue is in there.”
“Light Blue?” Linley felt as if cold water had been poured over his head, jolting him alert. “People from the Radiant Church are in there?” Linley began to be more cautious.
“I can smell her scent,” BeBe said confidently. “She thinks that by putting on a helmet and visor and wearing armor, I, BeBe, wouldn’t be able to find her?”
At this moment, Linley had no weapon in his hands.
He wasn’t in a hurry to use one.
At the most critical moment, he could suddenly take a weapon out of his space ring and use it directly, catching the enemy off guard. Ignoring Albert’s loud boasts, Linley carefully observed the surrounding knights.
“Attack! Kill him!”
Albert gave the order arrogantly.
But a much colder voice rang out: “Kill!” In an instant, six dazzling white rays of light connected with each other, almost exactly like the time Linley had been surrounded and attacked by six special executors over eight years ago.
That combined attack formation was, in fact, the Angel Battle Formation.
But in terms of power, it was far more formidable when actual angels themselves performed it.
“Sizzle—” As the six white rays connected, any knight blocking their path was pierced straight through by the white light. Three knights died on the spot, and eight were severely injured.
“Ah!”
One knight had his chest pierced through, leaving a large hole. He immediately fell off his horse, let out two screams, and then his voice faded away.
“Haha, nearly nine years have passed, and the Radiant Church’s methods still haven’t changed!” Linley laughed loudly.
“What’s going on?” Albert was terrified.
The middle-aged man beside Albert, however, was quite knowledgeable. His face changed color, and he immediately shouted, “Quick, get out of here! Those six aren’t Hei Desen’s disciples—they’re from the Radiant Church, all Level 9 experts! Go! If we’re late, we won’t make it!!!”
Albert might not be good at much, but his ability to flee was very fast.
“Hyah, hyah!” Albert no longer cared about killing Linley. He spurred his horse and followed the middle-aged man in a swift escape.
Some knights were trapped inside the Angel Battle Formation. In panic, they tried to escape from within, but when they touched the white light, their bodies were burned as if by extremely high-temperature flames, turning to ash instantly.
“Hmm? The power is much greater than those six special executors,” Linley remarked in admiration.
“Run!”
The knights who could escape all fled as fast as they could, while those who couldn’t were killed off by Lan Dan’s group. In the blink of an eye, only Linley, BeBe, and Lan Dan’s six were left alive on the entire wilderness.
“Bang!”
The armor on Lan Dan’s six shattered, and they all returned to their original appearances. One woman and five men—Lan Dan and the others looked at Linley with great confidence.
“Linley, you’re quite calm in a crisis, aren’t you?” Lan Dan sneered at Linley.
Linley glanced at Lan Dan. “I have to admit, your acting skills are truly impressive, being able to play the part of such a willful young lady. But do any of you know—over eight years ago, in Heisi City, I also killed six special executors who had set up this same combined attack formation.”
“Crack, sizzle~~~”
As Linley spoke, black dragon scales pierced through his clothes and emerged. Cold, metallic-looking spikes also protruded from his back and forehead, and a long dragon tail grew out.
Linley’s eyes also turned into cold, emotionless dark gold.
“Linley, we are different from those six,” Lan Dan said coldly. “Today, you will die without a doubt.” As he spoke, the white light surged even brighter, even converging and merging in the air above.
Linley’s dark gold pupils swept over the six. His icy voice rang out: “I want to tell you something—I really hate this combined attack formation.”
Linley still remembered that dreamlike white light.
“Grandpa Delin.” Linley clearly recalled that over eight years ago, Grandpa Delin had sacrificed himself to kill those six special executors. From that day on, Grandpa Delin had vanished from the world forever.
“Kill.”
Lan Dan gave the order coldly.
“Whoosh!” Lan Dan’s six charged forward like a bulldozer, the white light barrier rapidly shrinking. Anything that blocked the white barrier was instantly reduced to ash.
Unstoppable.
“Radiant Church, hahaha…” Linley watched coldly as the six charged at him. He suddenly stomped his foot and leaped swiftly to the side.
“Pathetic,” Lan Dan said coldly, watching Linley’s resistance.
With the six of them working together, their defense was terrifyingly strong—almost impossible to harm unless one was at the Saint-level. They didn’t care about Linley’s attacks at all.
“Number one!”
Linley’s voice rang out like a spring thunderclap. A heavy sword made of black obsidian suddenly appeared in his hand, turning into a blur as it cut through the air and slashed directly at one of them.
“Ridiculous.”
None of the six cared. The Level 9 angel who was struck didn’t take it seriously either. But strangely, Linley’s sword strike didn’t trigger the white light barrier at all.
Grand Earth Essence—Hundredfold Waves!!!
Linley watched the man coldly with his dark gold pupils.
This Level 9 angel only felt an extremely strange sensation, like a heavy hammer repeatedly slamming into his internal organs. The Radiant Light power couldn’t block this bizarre attack at all.
“Boom!” “Boom!” “Boom!”…
The sound of impacts echoed inside his body, reverberating in the angel’s mind.
“Ah!”
The Level 9 angel collapsed limply to the ground. With one person lost, the Angel Battle Formation was naturally broken, and the white light barrier disappeared. Lan Dan and the other five stared blankly at this scene, unable to believe it.
A slight smile curled at the corner of Linley’s mouth.
That white light was Radiant Light energy, essentially similar to battle qi. But Linley’s Grand Earth Essence was a completely different form of attack. Even if blocked by energy, it would only be slightly weakened during transmission—it couldn’t be stopped at all.
So-called combined attack formations were nothing but a joke in the face of the Grand Earth Essence.
With just one full-powered strike, Linley had turned the internal organs of that Level 9 angel into mush. He was deader than dead, and his soul had vanished from the world.
“You… you killed him?” Lan Dan and the other five were completely dumbfounded.
The Angel Battle Formation—and it had been broken just like that.
“Combined attack formations are useless against me.” Linley’s emotionless pupils swept over the few of them. “I just killed one. Now it’s your turn.”
On the Yulan Continent, no matter who it was—even a Saint-level expert—if their body was destroyed, they were as good as dead.
These angels, who had descended and possessed human bodies, even when they fought desperately, didn’t destroy their bodies outright. Instead, they ignored the body’s limits and used energy far beyond what it could withstand.
This method of use caused the body to gradually break down.
This breakdown had a brief window of time. For example, thirty seconds—after thirty seconds, the body would completely lose its vitality, unable to sustain the soul any longer.
But if Linley directly shattered all the internal organs of a person’s body from the start, the angel wouldn’t even have a chance to fight desperately.
“Sir.” The other four all looked at Lan Dan.
A holy light actually began to radiate from Lan Dan’s face. “This mortal possesses such a special attack. None of you need to care about your lives anymore. Prepare to return to the embrace of the Lord.”
“Yes, sir.”
The four had cold expressions, but their faces shone with that holy light.
“Sizzle—” Behind each of the four, white, illusory wings sprouted. In the blink of an eye, the four ordinary-looking people each had a pair of white light wings, and they all began to fly.
Four humans with white light wings rose into the air. Seeing this, Linley was greatly shocked.
“Angels—actual angels!”
The legendary powerful race had appeared before him. Even the weakest among the angel races, the two-winged angels, were terrifying existences at the early Saint-level.
“Kill.” Lan Dan immediately gave the order. They couldn’t afford to waste any time now.
Because blood was constantly seeping through the surfaces of the four’s bodies, flowing endlessly. Their bodies were clearly breaking down, their meridians gradually snapping. The energy of the early Saint-level far exceeded what these bodies could bear.
They had very little time.
They had to kill Linley within that brief window.
“Whoosh!” Their light wings flapped, and the four angels turned into white blurs as they shot toward Linley.
