Chapter 46: A Change of Plans
In the courtyard.
"Boss, when I burst out from underground just now, I saw five men outside following that Light Blue as she left." Bebe's eyes blazed with anger. "That wicked woman definitely has bad intentions."
Linley smiled faintly. "No need to overthink it. That woman is almost certainly someone sent by the Radiant Church to kill me. If I had chased her out just now, I probably would have been swarmed by the ambushers waiting outside the moment I stepped through the door, and they would have killed me outright. If they weren't already planning to kill me, why would they have people lying in ambush outside? And what's more, I couldn't even detect them."
Five people hiding outside, and he couldn't sense them. Those five were definitely experts—not much weaker than himself.
"Master, what do we do now?" Hei Lu transmitted mentally.
Linley's mind stirred, and the heavy sword of Black Dusk appeared in his hand. "What to do? No need to bother with them. Once Jenny arrives, we'll take her and leave immediately. If those people still chase us, we'll just kill them."
As long as he wasn't ambushed, once he transformed into his Dragonblood Warrior form and wielded the heavy sword of Black Dusk, Linley was confident he could even face a Saint-level powerhouse.
Before long.
"Brother Lei." The familiar voice sounded.
"Come in." Linley stood up with a smile. As the courtyard gate opened, Jenny and Keen walked in.
Seeing Linley, Keen sighed and said, "Brother Lei, my sister almost got bullied this time. Luckily, I was cautious and had people guarding around her room."
"Bullied?" Linley looked at Jenny.
Jenny shook her head with a smile. "It's nothing. It was Albert, the primary heir of the clan. He tried to sneak into my room tonight. Fortunately, my brother had prepared in advance. Albert was also afraid of making a big scene, since there are so many people in the castle."
"That Albert has always had ill intentions toward you. I wouldn't dare let my guard down. It doesn't matter if I lose the position of city lord; I absolutely won't let that bastard bully you, sister." Keen said solemnly.
Jenny looked at her brother with emotion.
Linley also looked at Keen with approval.
"Sister, when you're out there with Brother Lei, you need to take care of yourself." Keen's eyes were even a little red. "But since you're with Brother Lei, I'm still quite at ease."
...
Light Blue stood not far from the hotel. Just now, Jenny and her brother's group had gone inside.
"Let's go sit nearby and rest for a while." Light Blue pointed to the first floor of the hotel's main building. "But while we rest, keep an eye outside. As soon as Jenny and Keen come out, follow them immediately."
The other five nodded. Light Blue's group entered the main building of the hotel.
But about a minute or two later, Albert led over a dozen people to the outside of the hotel.
"Is it here?" Albert asked the subordinate beside him.
"Yes, Young Master. Miss Jenny and her group entered this hotel." Upon hearing the answer, Albert nodded. "Go find out who that bastard is that Jenny likes."
As he spoke, Albert touched the wound on his face.
That night, he had truly been in a sorry state.
He knew Jenny was a third-rank mage, but he was a fourth-rank warrior. Raping Jenny while she was asleep wouldn't have been difficult. In the dead of night, he had sneaked into Jenny's room.
But who would have thought? Jenny's room didn't just have Jenny alone—there was also a female guard.
And there were people secretly guarding outside the room.
He, the dignified primary heir of the Jax family, had been thoroughly beaten up by that female guard. Fortunately, Jenny and the guard knew his identity and didn't dare kill him. At the time, Jenny had even told him to give up hope, because from now on, she was going to travel far away with the person she loved.
"Could it be that she's going to travel far away with that mysterious ninth-rank warrior?" Albert was seething with anger inside.
"Let's go inside, sit down, have something to eat, and wait slowly." Albert barked.
Then, Albert led his group into the main building of the Neil Hotel. As Albert, full of frustration, walked into the hotel and glanced around, his eyes suddenly lit up.
Albert stared intently at Light Blue.
"What a truly angelic beauty." Albert marveled inwardly.
Albert's standards were very high; he was immune to ordinary beauties. But Light Blue was truly stunning—not only were her features delicate and beautiful, but the most important thing was her cold, holy aura.
Without acting, Light Blue had fully reverted to her natural temperament.
The more holy she was, the more Albert wanted to possess her. For Albert, pressing a holy woman beneath him was a great source of satisfaction.
"Beautiful lady, I am Albert Jax." Albert walked over and said humbly.
Light Blue glanced at him and completely ignored him.
"Scram." One of the five men beside Light Blue, a blond-haired man, barked.
"Looking for death." The guards behind Albert immediately drew their weapons, glaring coldly at the blond man. This time, Albert had been very cautious in following Jenny.
Because he knew the person Jenny liked was a ninth-rank warrior, Albert had brought experts with him, including one who was a disciple of his great-grandfather—a ninth-rank powerhouse.
"Jax?" Light Blue suddenly looked up at him. It was only then that she noticed the surname of this playboy in front of her.
"Yes." Albert smiled proudly.
Albert's servant even said arrogantly beside him, "Our young master is the primary heir of the Jax family. How dare you people show disrespect to the young master?"
The Northwest Province was the domain of the Jax family. As the primary heir, Albert indeed had the right to act tyrannically.
"Albert." A middle-aged man standing behind Albert said softly, "Those six people, including that woman, are no weaklings. They are likely eighth-rank warriors, or even ninth-rank warriors."
Albert was startled.
At this moment, Light Blue stood up and said with a smile, "Hello, Young Master Albert. This time, I am here with my five senior brothers to hunt down someone."
"Five senior brothers? Your teacher is...?" The middle-aged man behind Albert inquired.
"Boulder Sword Saint Hedderson." Light Blue said.
The reason Light Blue dared to boast like this was that the Boulder Sword Saint was a wanderer. Throughout the entire O'Brien Empire, very few people knew who the Boulder Sword Saint's disciples were.
"Boulder Sword Saint?"
The group was all surprised.
"Young Master." At that moment, a subordinate ran over. "Young Master, we've found out. The man Miss Jenny is looking for registered at the hotel under the name 'Lei.'"
"Lei?" Albert frowned.
"Haven't heard much about him." Albert turned to look at the expert he had brought. "Uncle Silan, do you have any confidence?" The middle-aged man frowned.
Light Blue, however, was intrigued upon hearing this.
"Young Master Albert, do you have a grudge against this man named Lei?" Light Blue said with a smile.
Albert looked at her in surprise. "What of it?"
"My five senior brothers and I are also here to deal with him." Light Blue said with a smile.
Albert immediately felt a surge of excitement. He also very much wanted to get close to this holy beauty in front of him. Wasn't this a perfect opportunity?
"Maybe I can not only kill Lei and get Jenny, but also win over this beauty." Albert's heart began to race again. Light Blue's beauty was in no way inferior to Jenny's, and perhaps even surpassed it.
Albert smiled and said, "That's wonderful. We can cooperate. I don't even know your name yet."
"My name is Light Blue." Light Blue continued using this alias.
"Beautiful Miss Light Blue, your teacher, Lord Hedderson, once visited our Jax family. He spent over a month with my great-grandfather back then." Albert tried to build a connection.
"Is that so?" Light Blue looked somewhat surprised.
"Yes." Albert then looked at the five people behind Light Blue. "Do you five have the confidence to deal with that Lei?"
"Don't you trust the disciples trained by my teacher?" Light Blue said with some displeasure. Her frowning, angry expression only made her more captivating. Albert felt his heart twitch violently.
Just as Albert and Light Blue were chatting, the person monitoring Jenny outside immediately ran in.
"Young Master, it's bad. That Lei has taken Miss Jenny and separated from Young Master Keen. They've already left the courtyard and seem to be leaving."
Albert immediately stood up upon hearing this.
Albert and Light Blue's group all looked out the window. Sure enough, Jenny was following Linley along the road leading to the city gate.
As for Keen and his group, they were taking a different path. The two parties were even waving goodbye to each other.
*******
"They're leaving. Jenny is going with Linley?"
Light Blue's expression changed, and her mind was in turmoil.
The plan she had just prepared was now useless because Linley had suddenly taken Jenny and left. She hadn't expected Jenny to go with Linley. After all, for so many years, Jenny had always been with Keen.
"So Jenny really is going with that bastard. It seems they really are going to travel far away." Albert was furious. "Men..."
"Wait." Light Blue's eyes lit up, and she immediately stopped him.
Albert looked at Light Blue in confusion. Light Blue now knew that since Linley was taking Jenny and leaving immediately, her original plan was useless.
But there was another way.
"Albert, send someone to follow them first. After they leave the city, we'll chase them on horseback. In the outskirts... my senior brothers and I will make our move and kill him." Light Blue said confidently.
In the outskirts, a bit farther from the provincial capital, they could probably kill Linley before MacKenzie even arrived on the scene.
"Oh?" Albert was delighted. If he didn't have to do it himself, he was naturally happy.
"Like this: once they're out of the city gate, you'll lead a cavalry unit. My five senior brothers and I will blend in among the cavalry. That way, Linley won't notice us in advance. Then..." Light Blue sneered inwardly.
When Linley wasn't paying attention, the six of them would mix in with the cavalry, then surround Linley in the chaos and form the Angel Battle Formation.
In a short time, they would kill Linley directly.
Once the Angel Battle Formation was successfully set up, the probability of killing Linley was one hundred percent. After all, six ninth-rank angels forming the Angel Battle Formation, even without going all out, could kill a Saint-level early-stage powerhouse. And if they went all out, disregarding the collapse of their bodies to unleash their true energy, even a Saint-level mid-stage powerhouse might die.
"No problem." Albert patted his chest in assurance.
The six of them, Light Blue included, all had smiles on their faces. Albert's smile was even more radiant.
******
In the outskirts.
Jenny was riding on the Black Panther's back, while Linley walked gracefully beside her. As they moved forward, Linley chatted and laughed with Jenny.
Jenny's face was full of happiness. As long as she could see Linley often and talk with him, in Jenny's eyes, that was already happiness.
"Jenny, be careful in a moment." Linley suddenly said.
"What?" Jenny was a bit startled.
Linley said casually, "There's a cavalry unit behind us, quickly catching up." A hint of killing intent flashed in Linley's eyes. This group was likely connected to the Radiant Church.
"It's time to test the power of the Hundredfold Wave." Linley deliberately didn't use his fastest speed, waiting for those people to catch up.
