Chapter 11: Breaking the Wall

If Granny Si or the village chief had been here, they would have scolded him for fooling around and risking his life recklessly.

After all, the divine sound that appeared when breaking through the wall was different from the divine sounds emitted by the girls in the ruins. Using the demonic sound that countered the girls' divine sounds to oppose the divine sound of the wall-breaking was the wrong remedy for the wrong ailment. More importantly, if the divine sound and demonic sound underwent other bizarre changes, it wouldn't be as simple as losing his life—he might even have his soul scattered and destroyed!

However, Qin Mu had no one to guide him and was unaware of the dangers involved. After learning the demonic sound, he immediately began experimenting.

When his primal energy reached his brow, the divine sound that seemed to come from beyond the nine heavens rang out as expected. His primal energy retreated automatically upon encountering the divine sound. Qin Mu silently recited the demonic sound, and the divine sound and demonic sound immediately became locked in a stalemate, clashing and attacking each other.

Taking advantage of this, Qin Mu urged his primal energy to charge toward the spirit embryo wall. However, the divine sound still broke through his demonic sound from time to time, forcing his primal energy back.

He failed time and again, but he was not discouraged. He continuously surged his primal energy to attack. After hundreds of failures, his primal energy finally struck the spirit embryo wall.

But the spirit embryo wall still existed and had not been broken.

"I was disrupted by the divine sound and couldn't gather all my primal energy for a full-force strike, so I couldn't break the wall."

Qin Mu briefly analyzed his mistakes and immediately launched the next assault. After experiencing failure after failure, he finally managed to have his primal energy strike the spirit embryo wall a second time.

This time, he also failed to break the wall.

Not long after, he struck a third time, then a fourth, a fifth...

When he learned alchemy from the pharmacist, he had already developed great patience. Alchemy tested patience, wisdom, eyesight, and technique, and patience was the most important. Without patience, one could never refine a good medicine.

After countless failures, Qin Mu suddenly heard a faint cracking sound from his brow.

That crisp sound was as beautiful as celestial music, and even though Qin Mu had strong composure, he couldn't suppress the excitement in his heart.

A crack had appeared on the spirit embryo wall, shaped like a bolt of lightning.

The spirit embryo wall was an invisible wall, one that couldn't be seen but only sensed. Yet when this crack appeared, Qin Mu felt a ray of light shining out from his brow, like a lightning-shaped symbol.

This feeling was very wondrous.

When you closed your eyes, all you saw was darkness, without any light. You couldn't see your brow, the spirit embryo divine repository, or the spirit embryo wall.

But when the spirit embryo wall was cracked by primal energy, you could see a lightning-shaped light shining out from the darkness. At that moment, you could see the spirit embryo wall.

Qin Mu not only saw the spirit embryo wall but also glimpsed the spirit embryo divine repository through the lightning-shaped crack.

Inside the spirit embryo divine repository, light shimmered, a golden radiance, and abundant, rich primal energy was overflowing from the lightning-shaped crack, constantly merging with his own primal energy.

The primal energy in the divine repository was purer and stronger, but it was the same as the primal energy he cultivated himself—without any attributes.

Qin Mu firmly believed that the primal energy he cultivated was the unique primal energy of the Overlord Body, the Overlord Body's primal energy, so he paid it no mind.

The spirit embryo divine repository not only contained primal energy but also more mysterious things hidden within. However, since he had only blasted a lightning-shaped crack and not fully broken the wall, he couldn't see what else was inside.

The lightning-shaped crack slowly began to heal. Qin Mu's heart sank. Clearly, the spirit embryo wall was not as simple as he had imagined. The spirit embryo wall had form but no substance, like thick, viscous liquid. Even if a hole was broken open, it could heal.

Unless he could break through the spirit embryo wall in one go, only then could he open the spirit embryo divine repository!

"My primal energy cultivation isn't strong enough yet, but creating cracks can rapidly enhance my primal energy! It won't be long before my primal energy can break through the spirit embryo wall!"

Qin Mu's spirits lifted, and suddenly he heard the crowing of roosters. His heart stirred, and he quickly opened his eyes.

Among the strange beasts that had taken refuge in the ruins were several bald-necked roosters, exceptionally tall and majestic, over a man's height, with splendid feathers but no feathers on their necks. The rooster's crow just now came from them.

"It's almost dawn."

Qin Mu's heart stirred. The eastern sky was already showing a faint light, indicating that the sun would rise soon. He no longer had time to fully break through the spirit embryo wall.

Fortunately, he had already understood how to break the wall. As long as he could escape this place from Senior Brother Qu and Senior Sister Qing, he would have plenty of time to break through.

Although he hadn't fully broken the wall, just opening a single crack had significantly increased his cultivation. He had enough confidence to escape from the two of them!

"It's almost dawn," Senior Brother Qu said meaningfully.

Senior Sister Qing said coldly, "Three junior brothers died for the sake of exorcising the demon. If we let this little demon brat escape, wouldn't that betray their spirits in heaven?"

Qin Mu ignored them, stood up, and stretched his limbs.

The girls in the square were still contending with the darkness, locked in a stalemate, with darkness and light clashing fiercely.

Not long after, another rooster crowed. The darkness became restless, its voice growing immensely loud and deep, while the divine sounds from the girls became passionate and clear. Divine light and darkness clashed intensely, colliding head-on, a shocking sight.

Suddenly, a third rooster crow rang out. A ray of sunlight pierced the eastern darkness, landing on the highest nearby peak.

With that ray of light, the pitch-black darkness receded like a tide, rapidly retreating into the distance. The darkness moved as swiftly as it had come, speeding away until it finally vanished over the horizon.

The morning sunlight shone down, illuminating the canyon. Before the sunlight could reach the ruins in the canyon, the bright pearl hanging in the air slowly descended, and the colorful clouds filling the square surged back into the pearl.

The clouds disappeared, and the girls in the square reverted to skeletons sitting cross-legged, motionless, as if the night's battle of the girls against the darkness had been nothing but a splendid dream.

Qin Mu had long heard the villagers talk about the strange occurrences in the Great Wasteland. The events here were bizarre and beyond comprehension. But hearing about them was one thing; experiencing them firsthand was far more shocking.

Every time night fell, darkness invaded, faces appeared in the darkness, mysterious demonic sounds echoed, the pink skeletons that turned into girls every night in these ruins, and the struggle between light and darkness—all were inexplicable mysteries.

These secrets awaited people's discovery.

Qin Mu hid his figure among the moving herd of beasts and quietly walked outward. The herd apparently had an unwritten rule: no fighting within the ruins. But once outside the ruins, the herd would likely become extremely dangerous.

On the other side, Senior Brother Qu exchanged a glance with Senior Sister Qing, and they also mixed into the herd, steadily approaching Qin Mu.

The herd continued to move outward in an orderly manner. Suddenly, a sword light silently arrived behind Qin Mu. Qin Mu sidestepped to dodge, and the precious sword nearly stabbed into a strange beast.

That beast let out an irritable roar.

"Junior Sister, don't control the sword. If you injure a beast and the herd goes berserk, we'll all die here!"

Senior Brother Qu's voice came. Senior Sister Qing quickly withdrew her sword, leaped onto the back of one beast, then jumped to another, rapidly closing in on Qin Mu. Qin Mu watched with envy. The ability to gather qi into threads and control a sword to kill enemies dozens of yards away—though not as astonishing as the butcher's divine abilities—was still impressive.

Senior Sister Qing moved lightly, her skirt spinning like a pink lotus flower, and beneath the lotus, her toes shot toward Qin Mu like sharp knives!

Her leg technique was fierce. Every kick she made was like a giant hammer with sharp spikes, causing the air to hum and buzz.

This leg technique could easily shatter a large rock to pieces or pierce through bronze walls and iron barriers!

Qin Mu's eyes lit up, and he met Senior Sister Qing's whirlwind-like leg technique!

The Cripple had once told him that the Heaven-Stealing Leg Technique he taught him had never feared any other leg technique!
