Chapter 316: Similarities

“You... what did you just do?” Wapol asked Ian stupidly. “Aren’t you... aren’t you a doctor?”

Seriously, this guy Wapol came to capture someone without even doing his research first? So Ian said helplessly, “Who told you I was a doctor? I’m a pirate!”

Hearing this, Wapol was instantly stunned.

Meanwhile, Chopper, who had been fighting with Cromalimon, also stopped upon hearing this and stared at Ian in surprise.

Since he was young, Chopper had a blue nose, which caused him to be rejected by the reindeer herd. After eating the Human-Human Fruit, he transformed to try to fit in with humans, only to be rejected by them as well. It was under these circumstances that Hiriluk took him in and loved him like a child. Since Hiriluk himself was a pirate admirer, Chopper grew to admire pirates under his influence.

At this point in time, Ian was the first pirate Chopper had ever encountered. So, with sparkling eyes, Chopper carefully studied Ian.

Ian noticed his gaze, took out his Bear Ear Hat, put it on, and smiled as he waved at Chopper.

Startled, Chopper immediately reverted to his pet form and hid behind Kureha. But his way of hiding was a bit strange—others would hide their bodies and peek out with their eyes, but he hid one eye while exposing most of his body.

This was Ian’s first time seeing Chopper’s hiding method, and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Pirate? So what if you’re a pirate!” Wapol snapped back to his senses and roared furiously, “Kill him! Since he’s not a doctor, there’s no need to capture him!”

Hearing Wapol’s order, Chess immediately raised his bow and shot an arrow at Ian.

But Ian, who had already activated his Psychic Field, slightly tilted his head and dodged the arrow Chess had fired.

Cromalimon also charged at Ian, throwing a series of punches, but none of them landed on Ian either.

The two attacked Ian together, but against such weaklings, Ian didn’t even feel like putting up a fight. Yawning, he kept dodging until he got annoyed. Suddenly, he vanished from his spot. When he reappeared, both Cromalimon and Chess, who was behind him, had blood gushing from their chests—Ian had cut them down with a single slash across their torsos.

“S-so strong!” Chopper, hiding behind Kureha, exclaimed in surprise. He looked up at her and asked, “Doctorine, is this what a pirate is like?”

Kureha smiled, adjusting her sunglasses on her forehead, and said, “Yes, and a very powerful big-time pirate at that!”

The moment Ian put on his Bear Ear Hat, Kureha finally recognized him. She hadn’t expected that Ian, the newly appointed Warlord of the Sea, would appear here.

As for Wapol, whose intelligence was lacking, he hadn’t paid attention to any Warlords of the Sea, so he didn’t recognize Ian at all. However, Ian had not only instantly taken down over a hundred of his soldiers but also cut down Cromalimon and Chess in two slashes, leaving them unconscious and their fate unknown. This made Wapol realize that this self-proclaimed pirate was incredibly strong.

“You... you dare to cut down Cromalimon and Chess!” Wapol gritted his teeth and glared at Ian. “I’ll definitely capture you and teach you a harsh lesson!”

Ian couldn’t be bothered with him. He was currently thinking about how to deal with this guy Wapol.

To be honest, Wapol’s appearance was unexpected. Although Ian had come to the Drum Island Kingdom, he hadn’t planned on causing trouble. He only wanted to exchange for food and obtain medical books before leaving. As for Wapol or Chopper, Ian hadn’t given them much thought. But unexpectedly, not only had Wapol appeared, but Chopper had as well.

Setting Chopper aside for now, Wapol had mistakenly thought Ian was a doctor and wanted to capture him. Since Wapol had set his sights on Ian, Ian naturally had to teach him a lesson.

But should he just beat him up and let him go, or kill him outright? Ian hadn’t decided yet. The main issue was that Wapol was a king recognized by the World Government. If Ian, a Warlord of the Sea, killed him, what kind of repercussions might that cause?

While he was thinking, Wapol suddenly shouted, “Doctor 20!”

In an instant, a group of doctors wearing white coats and white gloves appeared out of nowhere. As soon as they arrived, they began emergency treatment on Cromalimon and Chess.

“Stop the bleeding!”
“Sutures!”
“Antibiotics!”

To Ian’s astonishment, these doctors performed surgery on Cromalimon and Chess at an incredible speed. The severe wounds Ian had inflicted on their chests were quickly stabilized by these doctors!

The most absurd part was that after the surgery, both of them were already able to stand up. Although they looked a bit weak, they were indeed on their feet.

“Munch-Munch Factory!” Wapol also activated his Devil Fruit ability. His Munch-Munch Fruit allowed him to turn whatever junk he ate that day into parts of his body or fuse them into new things.

When he used this ability, he transformed into a massive tank! His lower half became four wheels, and his upper half extended a cannon barrel from his mouth.

In other words, he must have eaten a lot of metal parts today, along with at least a few tires and a cannon, or else he wouldn’t have been able to turn into this form!

After standing up, Cromalimon and Chess were also swallowed by Wapol’s wide-open mouth.

In the end, Wapol... how should I put it? He turned into a fluffy, afro-haired tank! Seeing this, Ian felt utterly speechless.

“Wahahaha!” Wapol felt quite proud, laughing even with a cannon barrel sticking out of his mouth.

“Boom!” At close range, Wapol fired a cannonball at Ian. Meanwhile, Chess, who had grown out of Wapol’s head, held his bow, ready to attack Ian if he tried to dodge the cannonball.

However, what Wapol and his crew never expected was that the moment the cannonball approached, Ian simply drew his sword and sliced it into four pieces!

He didn’t even bother to dodge.

Chess couldn’t fire his arrows because Ian didn’t follow their expectations. After cutting the cannonball, he lunged forward and appeared right in front of Wapol.

The gleaming blade was as striking and bone-chillingly cold as the snowy night. Ian lowered his shoulder and slammed it into Wapol’s stomach, then used his sword, Thousand Cherry Blossoms, to slash upward as he made contact!

A flurry of petals suddenly appeared on Wapol’s body, and the tank-form Wapol was actually sent flying into the air by Ian!

Ian then leaped up, chasing after Wapol mid-air, and delivered a series of fierce slashes. Each slash carried a cherry-red blade glow and conjured the illusion of a folding screen. The force of these slashes carried Wapol even higher.

After four consecutive slashes, Ian executed a powerful downward strike. A blade beam from top to bottom split all the folding screen illusions in half and sent Wapol crashing down from the sky!

This was the ultimate skill of Haohmaru: Five Light Slash! Ian figured Wapol’s iron-like body was tough enough, so he decided to test it on him.

With a loud crash, Wapol’s body slammed into the ground, sending snow flying everywhere. Ian’s successive slashes had nearly torn Wapol apart. If it weren’t for his Munch-Munch Fruit ability, which allowed him to turn his body partially into metal after eating some, this attack alone would have killed him!

Chopper and Kureha stared in shock at Wapol’s miserable state, never imagining that the arrogant King Wapol would end up like this.

At this moment, Wapol was still alive. Gasping for breath, he lay on the ground and shouted again, “Doctor 20!”

The group of white-gloved doctors immediately rushed over, holding tin plates, hammers, and nails. They began hammering and patching up Wapol’s body. Soon, the wounds Ian had inflicted were stitched up with tin plates!

“You...” Ian looked at Kureha in disbelief. “What exactly does Drum Island study—medicine or repair technology?”

This was way too black-tech! Even Wapol could be saved like this!?

After being rescued, Wapol finally became scared. If it weren’t for Doctor 20 being with him at all times, he might have died from delayed treatment just now!

“Quick, run!” After getting up, Wapol immediately jumped onto that stupid-looking woolly hippo and fled.

Watching Wapol run away, Ian didn’t immediately chase after him. Instead, he crouched down, frowning in thought.

Wapol’s escape reminded him of something: If he chased after him, and Wapol, unable to defeat him, was forced to flee out to sea and become a pirate...

Well, given Wapol’s personality, this was highly likely. In other words, he would abandon his own people without hesitation and escape alone.

And this made Ian think of something. According to normal history, Wapol’s escape was caused by Blackbeard Teach’s appearance on this island.

If Ian also chased him away, causing him to flee and become a pirate, wouldn’t that mean Ian had produced the same effect as Blackbeard?
