Chapter 316: Starting to Cut People Down!
Kureha had spent a long time with Chopper, so she immediately understood what he meant and shouted, "Who's there?"
Gradually, dark figures emerged from the village. As they drew closer, illuminated by the night's lanterns, Ian saw that they were a large group of Drum Island soldiers!
Among these appearing soldiers, Ian spotted a familiar face—the big-bearded captain from before. He couldn't help but feel very surprised.
Was this guy an idiot? Couldn't he see the massive gap in strength between himself and these soldiers? Ian had previously been too lazy to kill him, and yet he dared to bring people back for revenge!?
Just how many donkeys had to kick his head for him to be this stupid?
Seeing the big beard there, Ian initially thought this guy had brought people to cause trouble for him. However, to Ian's surprise, after these Drum Island soldiers surrounded the village, no one spoke. Instead, they cleared a path.
A tall figure appeared—it was Wapol, the king of Drum Island!
He wore a thick fur coat, riding on a stupid-looking hippopotamus, leisurely strolling out. Beside him were an afro-haired man wearing boxing gloves and a strange person carrying an ancient bow and arrow.
These two were Wapol's trusted subordinates, Cromalimon and Jester.
As soon as Wapol appeared, the villagers panicked. Some quickly ran back into their homes, only daring to peek through windows, leaving only the bald village chief and a few braver souls still standing outside.
That stupid-looking hippopotamus walked very slowly, with Wapol on its back taking forever to reach everyone. He was holding a mechanical part he'd apparently torn off from somewhere, opening his iron-plated mouth and biting into it piece by piece, like eating sugarcane. The crunching sound of his chewing could be heard.
"Hmm... hmm..." Wapol chewed while looking at Ian lazily. "Are you that doctor from outside?"
Ian didn't want to acknowledge him at all, just frowning as he watched this guy chew metal. This guy's Munch-Munch Fruit really could eat anything!
But even though Ian didn't speak, Wapol didn't let him off. Squinting, he said, "Since you've come to this country, you must obey its laws... hmm, the laws I made. No doctor is allowed to practice medicine freely in my country!"
Hearing this, Ian couldn't help but laugh. "What gives you the courage to talk to me like that?"
Yes, Wapol was indeed the king of Drum Island, a recognized member of the World Government. But the problem was, Ian couldn't accept that such a stupid-looking guy was a king. Wapol's face reminded Ian of that Celestial Dragon's idiot son he'd killed back then. He wondered why these ugly, incompetent fools were always the ones in high positions.
What was wrong with this world?
Since Ian didn't regard Wapol as a king at all, how could he be polite? This remark immediately enraged Wapol. He spat out the metal parts he'd been chewing and shouted angrily, "I am the king! Everything in this country is decided by me!"
"That's right! This is King Wapol's country!" the afro-haired boxer Cromalimon and Jester chimed in to flatter him.
Sigh! Ian felt like covering his face. He always felt that communicating with such idiots lowered his IQ.
Just then, Kureha, hands on her hips and adjusting her sunglasses, said to Wapol, "It's because of a king like you that this country is so sick! Wapol, your laws are useless against outsiders. Take your soldiers and get lost!"
"You old witch!" Wapol glared at Kureha, equally annoyed. "You're here too? Perfect! Men, arrest them all!"
Wapol had gathered all the famous doctors in the country to form a Doctor 20 team to serve him, while also plundering the people's wealth. But Kureha was the one doctor who'd escaped his grasp, continuing to practice medicine for a long time.
Wapol felt that Kureha had stolen a lot of his money, so he hated her to the bone. This time, after receiving reports from his soldiers that an outside doctor had arrived on the island and cured a village's infectious disease, Wapol immediately brought his army to make arrests. He didn't expect to be so lucky as to catch Kureha too.
"Wahahaha!" Wapol opened his big mouth and laughed loudly. "From now on, every doctor on this island will be under my command!"
With his laughter, the soldiers holding guns viciously charged at Kureha to capture her. They didn't let Ian off either; some also rushed toward him.
Kureha smashed a wine bottle over the head of a soldier who charged at her, but the other soldiers grabbed her from all sides. Though she looked fierce, she was still an ordinary person with limited ability to resist.
Just then, a blue-nosed reindeer suddenly rushed out from the side, its antlers knocking away the soldiers holding Kureha!
Chopper had acted to protect Kureha. After knocking away those soldiers, he gritted his teeth, lowered his head, and charged at Wapol with his antlers.
Chopper's face showed an expression of extreme hatred, because Wapol was his greatest enemy. Years ago, it was Wapol's trap that caused the death of Chopper's benefactor, the quack doctor Hiluluk.
If he hadn't seen Wapol, it might have been fine, but now that Wapol stood before him, how could Chopper give up this chance for revenge?
However, Chopper's move was still a bit reckless. There were too many soldiers around Wapol. Seeing Chopper charge, the soldiers immediately raised their guns and fired at him!
"Chopper!" Kureha shouted in panic.
Just then, Chopper's body suddenly shrank, turning into that small blue-nosed pet. This sudden change caused all the bullets aimed at him to miss!
There were too many of Wapol's men, and they had guns. Kureha worried Chopper would get hurt, so she quickly said, "Come back, Chopper!"
But Chopper's eyes were fixed solely on Wapol. After dodging the attack, he transformed again.
"Uwaaah!" Chopper's body suddenly grew large, becoming as strong as a gorilla. He lowered his shoulder and rammed into the hippopotamus beneath Wapol!
That hippopotamus was quite heavy, but Chopper's shoulder still knocked it over. Wapol, riding on top, was thrown off, with one leg pinned under the hippopotamus, screaming in pain.
Cromalimon and Jester quickly went to help Wapol up, but Chopper, now in a rage, charged at Wapol again. Cromalimon had to engage Chopper while Jester rescued Wapol.
"Get out of my way!" Chopper swung a punch at Cromalimon, but the latter dodged nimbly and punched back at Chopper.
Wapol stood up with Jester's help. Once on his feet, he roared angrily, "I remember this guy! He's that monster from before!"
This wasn't Chopper's first encounter with Wapol. Back when Hiluluk died, a deranged Chopper had attacked Wapol, but was stopped by Wapol's guard captain, Dalton. Dalton, crying, begged Chopper to stop, which he did. But that time, Wapol still remembered this blue-nosed monster.
"Kill him! Kill him this time!" Wapol shouted with his mouth wide open. "Soldiers! What are you doing! Shoot him!"
Just then, a mocking voice came, saying, "Are these useless pieces of trash what you call soldiers?"
Hearing this voice, Wapol, his men, and Kureha all turned to look. They found that, somehow, all the soldiers who had surrounded them were now lying on the ground, forming a circle.
The only one still standing in the middle was that outside "doctor"! He was slowly sheathing his sword, and with the movement of his wrist, a clear jingling sound came from his wrist...
Wapol was stunned. Kureha was stunned too. Over a hundred soldiers had been silently taken down by this young man!?
