Chapter 903: Ascending to Immortality
“This means that at the very depths of this ancient temple, there are at least two incomparable Yin Gods, one male and one female?” Everyone felt a chill run down their spines.
“Except for the Immortal Elixir, all life has a day of decay. These creatures’ bloodline power is so thin that it must have been endless ages since they lived. Those two Yin Gods should have returned to the yellow earth by now.” Duan De made this judgment after careful observation.
“Let’s hope so!” A shadow lingered in everyone’s hearts; they were not entirely reassured.
The ancient temple had many doors, and most of the small world courtyards inside were interconnected. They noticed that some people had successfully broken through to the third or fourth layer of the temple’s depths, so they quickened their pace.
When they pushed open the fifth courtyard, a brilliant light shone ahead. Some people had stopped here. Inside the halls, there were ancient stone carvings that emitted light on their own.
“They might be scriptures and insights from ancient sages—priceless treasures. Let’s go take a look!”
In the great hall, those carved images were radiating boundless light. Several powerful figures stood there, their minds and bodies ethereal, utterly captivated, their entire beings exuding the aura of the Dao.
“It’s an unparalleled ancient scripture. Could it have been carved by a Human Great Emperor? These people have all merged with the Dao. Truly mysterious and unfathomable, inspiring awe!” Ye Fan, Duan De, and the others were astonished and quickly walked forward.
However, the faint breeze stirred by their footsteps caused a change. Those figures scattered like fireworks, dissolving into a rain of light—extremely brilliant and beautiful—their bodies becoming fragments of light.
“This… what happened?” They were all stunned, a chill running from head to toe as they quickly halted.
“Did they ascend to immortality?” They stood there in a daze, their bodies ice-cold. This ancestral temple was too eerie.
The great hall was extremely vast. Those ancient characters and runes shimmered brightly, emitting strands of divine radiance, filling the place with a sacred aura—yet it was so bizarre.
Those several powerful figures had dissolved like that, dying without a clear cause, returning to dust amidst brilliant rays, as if they had ascended, with even Dao sounds resonating.
It was utterly silent here. No one spoke, no one stepped forward. Those radiant stone carvings seemed to possess a demonic nature, sending chills through their bodies.
“Creak”
The door to this courtyard was pushed open, and more people entered. They exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the carvings, and several old men rushed over.
Five people came from two great sects. Their sect masters had not come, leaving the spots to several Supreme Elders who were nearing the end of their lives. These were no ordinary individuals.
They rushed over quickly, ignoring Ye Fan and the others. Standing before the mysterious hall’s walls, they gazed at the insights of ancient sages. In an instant, they were entranced, as if immersed in them.
Then, ripples overflowed. Each of them merged with the Dao, rapidly entering a state of unity between heaven and man. Blood-colored divine chains, like the feathers of an immortal phoenix, bloomed around their bodies.
This place was peaceful and serene to the extreme, with no hint of killing intent. All things coexisted, and auspicious vapors surged forth. But Ye Fan and the others felt it was too sacred. How could these people be so talented as to enter the Dao so instantly?
“It’s over. They’ve all dissolved, turning into a rain of Dao.” Old Blind Man sighed.
Sure enough, Big Black Dog opened its mouth and blew a breath forward. The five old men scattered, turning into dots of light rain, dazzling and beautiful, possessing a divine charm that made this place even more holy.
They had witnessed the entire process from start to finish, even more shocking than before. Just a stone carving had directly turned people into specks of light, evaporating them from the world—a horrifying tale.
“Is this a sacred ancestral temple? I feel more like a demonic hall,” Pang Bo said, uncertain. He held the Divine Maiden Furnace in his hand, tempted to blast it.
The brilliant hall was so eerie. That wall was terrifying. None of them approached. Only Duan De squinted, holding the Devouring Demon Jar lid, and said, “Don’t provoke anything even more dangerous. Let’s hurry through.”
In the darkness, a stench of blood hit their noses, and fierce beasts charged wildly. This temple world echoed with thunderous roars of beasts. Then, the ground shook everywhere as countless beasts stampeded, forming a torrent.
“This temple world is enormous. This is a beast tide—impossible to kill them all. Let’s get out of here!” Dongfang Ye shouted. He sensed danger. Countless ferocious beasts surged from the forest, a black mass stretching beyond sight.
“Ah…”
Screams of human cultivators rang out. Amidst this flood-like army of beasts, some strong individuals were torn apart. This place became a forbidden zone, forcing people to detour through other small temple worlds.
Ye Fan and the others passed through the eleventh layer of temples, heavily closing the iron door behind them, and let out a long breath. This place was different from what they had imagined. There were no ghost soldiers, only living things.
The twelfth layer of halls was still vast, stretching beyond sight. They hadn’t gone far when the cauldron above Ye Fan’s head shook violently, scattering a spray of nine-colored flames that burned through the void.
Someone attacked. Ye Fan used the Primordial Qi Cauldron to protect himself and offered up the divine flames he had collected from the Fire Domain. This was a formidable enemy, likely having severed the Dao many years ago—a terrifying old king. A large hand nearly snatched the sacred cauldron from above his head. If not for the flames’ immense power, Ye Fan would have been in grave danger. This person was very skilled at concealment.
Qi Luo vanished in an instant, emitting a cold gleam in the darkness. A bone-chilling murderous intent spread, making this temple world feel grim. Lightning bolts illuminated the dark void.
“Puff,” “Puff”…
Finally, three soft sounds came. Three bloody heads were thrown to the ground, each with a finger-sized hole in the forehead, their primordial spirits pierced through. Qi Luo’s expression remained unchanged, as if he had done something trivial.
There was not just one assassin, but three ancient beings, all old kings who had severed the Dao years ago. Qi Luo swiftly removed their heads.
Ye Fan and the others were startled. This old assassin leader was indeed unfathomable, dispatching these three terrifying old kings as easily as cutting vegetables.
“We must be careful. Not only are there mysterious unknown dangers in the ancestral temple, but various hidden enemies are also getting restless. We need to be cautious!”
They stepped into the thirteenth layer of halls. Here, it was no longer dark; instead, it was filled with light, sacred and peaceful, as if they had entered a world of light.
Ahead stood a massive stone statue, a full hundred zhang tall, emitting a soft glow. Dozens of runes were carved on it, each resonating with the Dao.
Rows of halls and small worlds were interconnected. Many people had already arrived here from other paths, all gazing and memorizing these ancient runes.
“Celestial Prince!” The monkey shouted, swinging his great staff and smashing it over. The pitch-black iron rod instantly expanded to several hundred zhang, shattering the void and arriving in an instant.
The Celestial Prince sneered and, without looking back, sped away, vanishing into the temple’s small world ahead, leaving the thirteenth layer.
“Even that dog thing stopped here. The runes on this statue must be something special,” Pang Bo said.
“Kid, watch your language! If you talk nonsense again, I’ll get angry!” Black Emperor barked from the side.
“These symbols are very unique, like spirit-driving talismans, capable of commanding all kinds of strange beasts.” Qi Luo showed a look of surprise and began to memorize them.
Dozens of symbols, each extremely complex, formed by hundreds or thousands of interwoven lines, directly resonating with the Dao of heaven and earth—mysterious and unfathomable.
The ancestral temple of the Feather Transformation Divine Dynasty was extraordinary, with many precious stone carvings. Ye Fan and the others didn’t want to miss them, so they calmly imprinted each symbol into their sea of consciousness.
Several figures flew up to the slightly open mouth of the statue. One person discovered a secret and quickly reached inside. Others realized what was happening and all struck out, sparking an instant battle.
“There’s something in the stone man’s mouth!”
When the object was pulled out, auspicious light burst forth, and multicolored rays scattered, dazzling everyone. It was a treasure chest, one foot square, stunning everyone. It was forged from five-colored iron essence, a divine material of the same rank as Great Luo Silver Essence.
“A real treasure has appeared! The chest alone is a rare gem that would make even a sage move to seize it. What’s inside? Could it be the Feather Transformation Immortal Scripture?”
Everyone went mad, charging forward to fight for it. The first to obtain it was immediately killed on the spot, turning into a mist of blood.
“Hum”
The void trembled. A black vase appeared, swallowing heaven and earth, instantly collecting the treasure chest and claiming it.
“Hua Yunfei, Li Xiaoman!” Pang Bo shouted, his brows shooting up. Ye Fan soared into the air, ready to strike. However, at that moment, Hua Yunfei, as if avoiding a venomous snake, quickly threw away the chest and fled at top speed. Others scrambled for it and flipped open the lid.
“Boom”
A brilliant rain of gold appeared, dense and thick, filling every inch of space in the temple’s small world.
“This… what is it?” Many were shocked.
Black Emperor’s fur stood on end, every hair bristling. He bolted at full speed, howling, “Woof, woof, woof, run for your lives!”
