Chapter 1053: The Despicable Outsider
Father Gascoigne's health bar slowly dropped to the halfway point.
Old Qin fought while retreating, with only ten blood vials left.
From the surface, Old Qin was basically being chased all over the place by Father Gascoigne, while the boss relentlessly pursued him, the distance between them always staying around three or four meters.
Old Qin could only occasionally attempt a gun parry, but the priest's gun was no joke either, so Old Qin had to keep using trees and tombstones as cover.
The two circled around and ended up in a very awkward position.
In front of Old Qin was a thick tree, and to the left of that tree stood a statue over three meters tall. Between the statue and the tree was only about twenty or thirty centimeters of space, surrounded by many tombstones.
Father Gascoigne furiously swung his great axe, which had transformed into its long-handled form. His powerful leaping slashes struck tombstones and the statue, producing deafening sounds. Sometimes he would slam the ground, cracking the hard earth while kicking up clouds of dust.
Yet he still couldn't touch Old Qin...
Old Qin carefully observed: "This big guy... seems to be stuck, huh. Haha, he's so stupid, doesn't he know to just walk around and hit me?"
As Old Qin spoke, he took two steps back, but Father Gascoigne immediately circled around the tombstone and brought his axe down again!
"Sorry! Wait!"
Old Qin scrambled to dodge, then ran around again, hiding behind the tree and statue once more.
Sure enough, the priest started wildly attacking the statue and tombstones again, unable to reach Old Qin.
"I see. When I stay within three meters of the priest and he can see me without any obstruction, he keeps trying to leap-slash. He doesn't realize he's blocked."
"Normally, the AI for monsters in this game should be pretty high... I get it—since the priest has lost his mind now, his intelligence has plummeted."
"That means as long as I stay in this spot, I'm perfectly safe. I can even try hitting him a couple of times."
Old Qin switched his cane to whip form, and after Father Gascoigne slammed the ground again, he lashed the whip vertically through the narrow gap between the tree and the statue, striking the priest.
"Oh? It actually works. This game is way too realistic..."
Old Qin had discovered a new tactic. He stayed behind the tree and tombstones, counterattacking whenever Father Gascoigne attacked.
Of course, this position wasn't absolutely safe. If he stood too close, the priest might extend his axe through the gap between the statue and the tree to hit Old Qin. But as long as Old Qin waited for the priest to finish his attack before retaliating, it was completely fine.
And so, Old Qin chipped away bit by bit. The whip's damage was already quite pitiful, but Old Qin wasn't in a hurry. Occasionally, he'd get grazed and drink a blood vial. It looked like he planned to wear the boss down like this.
When you use your skill to outsmart the enemy, why rush in recklessly?
The bullet comments exploded. Shameless, utterly shameless!
"Alas, the noble Father Gascoigne, toyed with like this!"
"Stop! This isn't a fair fight!"
"Despicable outsider!!"
"True King's Move right there, haha. If Old Qin had a sword, it'd be even more classic!"
"Damn, forced turn-based combat!"
Occasionally, when Father Gascoigne circled around the tombstones, Old Qin would just keep running around the tree and tombstones, trapping the priest on the other side.
"See, rushing in blindly won't work. Against enemies like this brute, we need to use our brains. This tradition passed down from the *Dark Souls* era, this righteous tactic—it never goes out of style no matter where you go."
Old Qin kept talking while continuing to whip Father Gascoigne.
As he spoke, the boss's health dropped to 40%.
Old Qin was still calmly dealing damage when suddenly the priest clutched his head and let out a painful roar!
Black, pus-filled blood burst from his body, and his form instantly swelled several times over. His human face vanished, replaced by a massive wolf's head!
His clothes were stretched taut by his beastly transformation, and he had become a completely mindless beast!
"Whoa, he transformed?!"
Old Qin tried to use the same tactic again, but the transformed Father Gascoigne grabbed and crushed the tombstone in front of him, then with a second claw swipe, sent Old Qin flying!
"Damn, save me! This spot isn't safe anymore!"
Old Qin chugged a blood vial and fled frantically. After transforming, Father Gascoigne was even faster than before, instantly leaping in front of Old Qin and unleashing a flurry of claw strikes.
This time, Old Qin couldn't trap Father Gascoigne with tombstones at all. The transformed priest's strength had skyrocketed, and the tombstones were as fragile as tofu before him, utterly defenseless.
"Father, the people buried under these tombstones are your Yharnam ancestors! Show a little mercy! You're going to destroy this whole graveyard!"
Old Qin shouted while fleeing, but the completely insane Father Gascoigne couldn't hear him.
"Time to bring out the righteous molotovs! Fxxk!"
Following the principle of "lots of fur means weak to fire," Old Qin tried to burn the boss to death with molotovs. But the boss was moving too fast, and his first molotov, thrown in a panic, hit nothing.
"He's running so damn fast, it's too hard to aim!"
In the VR version of *Bloodborne*, molotovs had to be thrown manually with no lock-on, making it extremely risky.
Suddenly, a flash of inspiration hit Old Qin: "I still have that music box!"
Clearly, the music box wasn't meant to "awaken Father Gascoigne" at all. Its only purpose was to put the priest into a confused state for three to five seconds, giving the player a precious window to attack...
Old Qin kept running frantically around the tree while fumbling for the music box and clumsily opening it.
A clear, pleasant melody rang out from the box. The fully beastified Father Gascoigne writhed in agony, standing still in a dazed state.
"Now's the time!"
Old Qin threw out an oil urn he had prepared, then quickly hurled four molotovs at the oil-soaked Gascoigne.
Blazing flames shot into the sky. The wolf-like Father Gascoigne let out a piercing wail. Though it seemed full of reluctance, it was reduced to ashes in the inferno.
[Prey Slaughtered]
Old Qin wiped his sweat, even though his character didn't actually sweat: "Steady as an old dog, not panicking at all."
