Chapter 697: Is the AI Glitching?

Qin An was puzzled. Normally, the queue took about ten seconds, so why did he get in instantly today?
The moment he clicked "Start Game," he was in—no reaction time at all...
Qin An didn't think much of it. The spawn island was business as usual, with the AI running around, jumping, and punching just like the real players.
The only difference was that there seemed to be more cheaters in this match, and they were all blabbering nonsense over voice chat.
He'd encountered some cheaters on the spawn island before, but rarely. Today, there seemed to be an unusually high number.

The game began.
As always, Qin An didn't dare jump into places like the Airport or Pochinki. Instead, he picked a small village far from the flight path, with only five or six houses.
But the moment his parachute opened, Qin An was dumbfounded. Why were four people dropping into this godforsaken place?!
Besides Qin An, there were three others. His scalp tingled...
"Great, folks. Looks like I'm about to land and become a loot box."
Qin An knew all too well what happened when you ran into AI early on. It was pure luck—whoever grabbed a gun first would get the kill. If Qin An landed empty-handed, even a pistol in the AI's hands could headshot him instantly.
He was panicking, but luckily, the other three landed in worse spots than him.
As soon as he touched down, Qin An sprinted toward a house. He pushed the door open, and right in front of him was a Tommy Gun!
"Nice!"
Qin An snatched up the Tommy Gun at lightning speed. Just then, an enemy burst in through the other door. Without a second thought, Qin An turned him into Swiss cheese with the Tommy Gun.
"Bang! Bang, bang!"
A few shots rang out, and the enemy's head erupted in a spray of blood. He dropped dead.
"Lucky break, lucky break."
Qin An shuddered at the thought. Good thing the other guy hadn't found a gun.
But the situation was still tense. There were two more people in this tiny place. If both were AI, Qin An's chances of walking out alive weren't great...
He'd roughly noted where the other two had landed. After quickly looting the house, he dashed straight for the best-positioned building, jumped through a window, and waited patiently at the top of the stairs.
"Thump, thump, thump."
Footsteps echoed from below. Two people were running toward the house, one after the other, not far apart. A few gunshots rang out, but the guy in front probably hadn't taken many hits.
In an instant, a guy in a white down jacket came sprinting up the stairs. Qin An peeked out from the side and landed a few more headshots!
The guy behind was still chasing, wondering why his target had suddenly died, when he heard footsteps on the stairs...

Qin An got into his jeep and hit the road. Along the way, he spotted two or three people running aimlessly across open fields. Without hesitation, he hopped out, aimed his 98k with iron sights, and took them out with two shots each.
"Strange. Are these players? Why are they all running around in the open like that? What's wrong with them... Are they just feeding me kills?"
Qin An wasn't trying to pad his kill count, but he didn't dare not kill them!
Based on his experience in the cheater-filled lobbies, anyone he met on the road could be AI. If he didn't kill them, they'd kill him. Even if he tried to drive away, they might spray him down from a distance. So the best move was to get out and fight head-on.
Qin An stuck to the same strategy: see someone, get out, strike first. But after a while, he realized—wasn't anyone putting up a fight?
Normally, encounters on the road were nail-biters. His car would get blown up, he'd nearly die—it was common. But today was bizarre. After killing five or six people in a row, his jeep was still at full health...
These guys were just running around cluelessly. Qin An would hop out, aim his 98k, and drop them in two shots. If that didn't work, he'd switch to his M16 and spray them down. When they got hit, they were completely confused—no zigzagging, no clever dodging, just straight-line movements. Qin An felt like he was shooting at stationary targets...
He missed a few 98k shots, not because his aim was bad, but because their movement was so predictable that his leading shots were completely off...
"What's up with the AI today? Is it glitching? Did they lower the difficulty?"
Qin An muttered to himself as he looted the corpses.
With 45 players left, Qin An had already killed 11...
And he was stacked. Level 2 armor, a nearly fully kitted SCAR, and a 98k with an 8x scope. In his eyes, this was endgame-ready gear.
Normally, he had to loot cautiously, often too scared to even grab loot from kills in case an AI was watching him. He was always dirt poor. But today, for some reason, he was suddenly loaded...
Drive, stop, kill.
Drive, stop, kill.
"Damn, this round is actually kind of fun. This game can be this enjoyable?" Qin An couldn't help but laugh.
Still, fun as it was, he wasn't exactly thrilled. He knew he wasn't suddenly good enough to dominate the AI. His skill couldn't have improved that fast.
"The AI must be glitching. Heh, might as well enjoy it while it lasts!"
Once Qin An figured the AI was bugged, he stopped sneaking around. He just drove straight into fights, killing everyone he saw!
