Chapter 672: Is This Even Human?
Chen Mo had fully replenished his energy. He quickly peeked out from behind cover, confirming the positions of these enemies.
These AIs weren't rushing in all at once. If a dozen people charged him simultaneously, even Chen Mo with three heads and six arms wouldn't stand a chance—that was just how the game mechanics worked.
Besides, if a dozen AIs all rushed forward at once, it would look too fake, blatantly telling everyone they were bots.
So, these AIs maintained a certain distance from each other, occasionally firing a couple of shots at one another to keep up appearances, but overall, they kept steadily advancing toward the bridge.
Chen Mo roughly estimated the distance of these AIs: "Mm, just about right."
...
Haimi and Pallla were still in the room, too afraid to go out. By now, intense gunfire had erupted at the bridgehead!
Various gunshots rang out—AKMs... Yet on the screen, M4s and AMMs kept appearing, all with quick-scope shots: fire one round, then immediately pull back, or else get hit!
But even so, Chen Mo methodically slaughtered the enemies charging from the opposite side.
"Chen Mo's AMM is almost out of ammo! Sure, this gun is great, but the bullet count is a real weakness!"
"Someone's sneaking up! They're almost right on top of Chen Mo!"
In VR, the game was in first-person perspective, but when switched to a live broadcast signal, it changed to a third-person follow camera, mainly to adapt to different viewing angles. Many viewers could clearly see that while Chen Mo was sniping with others, someone had quietly crept up from the other side!
"What do we do? Did Chen Mo not see him? Little Fatty, hurry and warn him!"
"Right side, right side! Behind that wrecked car!"
"Damn, Chen Mo's too focused on sniping—did he not notice this guy appear?"
The viewers were getting anxious, terrified that Chen Mo would be taken out by this sneaky bastard.
But just as this person was about to burst out, Chen Mo used his last AMM bullet to headshot and down a distant enemy, then switched to his M4, instantly swinging his muzzle toward the direction the enemy was coming from!
"Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang...!!"
Both sides opened fire almost simultaneously, both at full health. But in the end, Chen Mo had 30% health left, while the other was already dead on the spot!
Once this AI died, the teammate he had downed earlier with a sniper shot from afar also turned into a crate.
"Wait, what did Chen Mo just do???"
"Holy shit, I didn't catch that. Can someone explain what happened?"
"How did he win a close-range gunfight like that?"
The viewers in the livestream were watching from a third-person follow perspective, so they could clearly see Chen Mo's character's movements.
In the instant both sides exchanged fire, Chen Mo moved and shot simultaneously, while his body kept crouching and standing up. The M4's bullets swept from top to bottom, then bottom to top across the enemy's entire upper body, with one bullet hitting the head!
Life and death were decided in a fraction of a second. Chen Mo's erratic movements dodged several bullets that could have hit his head or neck, allowing him to survive such a close-range gunfight.
Otherwise, with both sides having similar accuracy, it would have been a fifty-fifty outcome.
"Holy shit, that movement is so cool! I want to learn it! Teacher, can you teach me?"
"What's this movement called?"
"Feels a lot like kowtowing on the ground—let's call it the 'New Year's Bow' movement!"
"'New Year's Bow' movement? 66666, that's hilarious! It really does look like bowing!"
"Happy New Year, big brother and big sister...!"
After clearing this wave of enemies, there were very few survivors left on the field. Chen Mo confirmed he was temporarily safe, then hid behind cover to use a medical kit and top off his health.
...
At the bridgehead, Haimi and Pallla were trembling in the room.
"Is this CDX even human? In this short time, he's killed ten people?"
"Holy shit, all those people charging the bridge got wiped out by him? How is this even real?"
"There are still people running toward the bridge, northeast direction!"
Haimi could see clearly: in the northeast, two people were sprinting toward the bridge, probably because they hadn't found a car...
Haimi couldn't help but grip his M24 tighter: "You take the front one, I'll take the back one."
There were only five people left on the field now, but the safe zone was still large, creating this very strange situation. Even though there weren't many people left, they were still quite spread out.
Haimi saw that both of these guys below had Level 2 helmets and no cover. If he and Pallla used their micro-aim assist, they could easily double-headshot and take them both out.
Even though their own gear was pretty good, they still wanted to scavenge a bit more, to have a better chance against CDX on the bridge.
"Alright, three, two, one, shoot!"
Haimi and Pallla poked their heads out of the window almost simultaneously, aiming at the two people running below.
Two gunshots rang out!
But no kill notification came. As Haimi and Pallla exposed themselves at the window, the two AIs running below also rolled at the same time, dodging the head-lock shots.
One of the AIs got hit in the foot, but it wasn't serious.
The next second, both AIs raised their guns simultaneously, aiming at the window where Haimi was!
Haimi was so startled he quickly pulled back, as several bullets hit the spot where he had been standing.
After waiting a moment, Haimi peeked out again and saw that these two had changed targets—they were no longer charging the bridgehead. Instead, they were covering each other and running toward the building where Haimi and Pallla were!
Haimi was dumbfounded: "What the hell?!"
