Chapter 663: Four More Chicken Dinners and I'm Off!
Haimi continued moving forward, but his expression showed no tension at all. As he searched, he chatted and laughed with the audience.
"Everyone, do you think I can get a chicken dinner this round? How many kills before the win? Come on, guess right and win a prize!"
He looked completely relaxed, handling everything with ease.
But just then, a figure suddenly peeked out from behind a wall in the distance and fired a shot at lightning speed!
"Bang!"
With just one shot, the durability of the Level 3 helmet on Haimi's head dropped to zero!
That was the sound of a 98k!
Haimi flinched in shock. The Level 3 helmet he was wearing had been with him since he left the airport, already losing some durability and not in great condition. Still, thanks to that helmet, that 98k shot would have otherwise killed him outright.
Haimi was stunned. His current position was extremely disadvantageous, while the opponent was behind cover. So he quickly rolled to the side and ducked behind a wall corner.
"Almost got ambushed by that punk, but no big deal. Even without a helmet, I'll still take him down!"
Haimi said confidently to the viewers in the livestream.
Both players were hiding behind cover, occasionally peeking out to check each other's positions. Clearly, both were stubborn players with no intention of flanking or circling around—they just wanted to duel it out here and gun each other down.
"Trying to outshoot Haimi? Isn't living good enough?"
"Hilarious. This guy really doesn't know how to spell 'death,' does he? Has no idea who he's up against?"
"Haimi, take him out! Chicken dinner this round!"
The barrage of comments loved this kind of shootout. Camping until the end might secure a win, but it lacked entertainment value. Haimi's style of killing everyone in sight was what really got these viewers going.
Both players peeked out at the same time, raising their guns simultaneously!
But as Haimi fired, the opponent suddenly rolled out from behind cover and fired the 98k instantly!
"Bang!" A massive cloud of blood burst in front of Haimi, and his body slumped to the ground!
"How is this possible?!"
Haimi almost shouted out loud. This scene was downright terrifying to him!
That player had first rolled forward to dodge his bullet, adjusted his position through the roll to spot Haimi behind the wall, and then cleanly headshot him with the 98k—no wasted motion at all.
What shocked Haimi was the sheer confidence of this guy!
If that 98k shot had missed or hit the body, the player would have been completely exposed with no cover, and Haimi would have definitely killed him!
Haimi said nothing and silently clicked the report button.
As a streamer, he knew better than to stir up drama recklessly. He couldn't outright call the opponent a cheater, or he'd risk looking foolish if proven wrong. But he also knew that with just a little hint, the audience would handle the rest for him.
Sure enough, after seeing this scene and Haimi's report, the comments exploded!
"This guy is ridiculous! Definitely a cheater, no doubt!"
"A 98k quick-scope headshot? That's insane, and he even did a roll before aiming at the head!"
"No one at this rank can outgun Haimi. This guy's definitely shady!"
"Oh my god, even PUBG has cheaters now? This is huge! Let's go post on the forums!"
Many viewers in Haimi's stream were cursing the cheater, while others rushed to the official forums to post about it.
In truth, many players knew that cheating couldn't be completely eradicated. Even with Chen Mo's extreme measures, cheaters in Overwatch still persisted.
Low-end cheats were gone, but high-end ones remained.
Many players also understood that the more popular PUBG became, the higher the chance of encountering cheaters. They just didn't expect it to happen so fast.
Some players posted the video online, but there was debate over whether the player was actually cheating.
"Here come the streamer fanboys again. Anyone who kills your favorite streamer is a cheater? This guy got lucky with a 98k headshot, what's the big deal? Your streamer kills a dozen people in a match and it's fine, but when he gets killed, the opponent's a cheater?"
"Look closely—this guy landed two consecutive 98k headshots! Haimi had a Level 3 helmet at first, which got destroyed, then the second shot hit his head again!"
"So what? It's not like it was two headshots in a row. Can't the guy just be good?"
"Enough. Just send the footage to Chen Mo and let him check it out!"
This incident caused only a minor stir and didn't attract much attention.
Although the player was suspected of cheating, in shooting games, a player's aim and state could fluctuate. It was possible he just had a moment of brilliance and lucked into a headshot. This wasn't enough to constitute solid proof.
Meanwhile, Haimi composed himself and continued streaming.
"Hmm... why does this queue feel a bit long?"
Haimi was surprised. This time, he waited about ten seconds on the matchmaking screen before getting in. But once inside, everything seemed normal, so he didn't think much of it.
"Alright, don't dwell on that last round. Stuff like that happens. Watch this one—guess if I can get 10 kills?"
Haimi started a game prediction in the stream, and 65% of viewers guessed he could get 10 kills.
Haimi felt a swell of pride.
Indeed, he realized that PUBG had great entertainment value!
In other FPS games, it was really hard to get 10 kills without dying once, because battles were often clustered and chaotic, with bullets flying everywhere. Most skilled players could only ensure a good K/D ratio, but going deathless was nearly impossible.
Of course, smurfing was a different story.
In PUBG, you could adopt more strategies, and the game's realistic sound design for footsteps and gunshots widened the gap between pros and regular players.
Haimi had a solid foundation, and his skill level was still far above the average player at this rank. Even if another surprise like the last round happened—someone jumping out from behind him—Haimi wasn't worried, because he still had a trump card up his sleeve.
While waiting in the spawn area for the game to start, Haimi even changed his stream title.
"Four chicken dinners and I'm off! At least 10 kills per round!"
After his earlier attempts, Haimi was getting more and more comfortable with the game. By his estimate, he could achieve this goal within ten rounds, finishing around 1 a.m.—perfect timing.
