Chapter 654: The Store Manager Is Bullying the Bots?
"Winner winner, chicken dinner!"
The image on the big screen froze, displaying the iconic scene from *PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds*!
A burst of cheers erupted instantly from the holographic projection viewing area!
Everyone saw it clearly. In the end, Old P used a smoke grenade to block the view, then charged straight out. The two sides clashed head-on in a fierce gunfight, and Old P secured the victory with less than a quarter of his health remaining.
"Awesome, Old P actually got first place!"
"I have a question, why 'chicken dinner'?"
"Not really sure... but it sounds pretty fun!"
"Is that the streamer Old P? Is he in the experience store too? Someone call him over to share his insights!"
"As expected, you still need good aim. In the final circle, hiding is useless; it all comes down to real skill!"
After this match ended, a countdown for the next game appeared on the screen: 15 minutes. It gave the players a bit of a break.
In the VR gaming experience area, Old P stepped out of the gaming pod, and the surrounding players immediately swarmed around him.
"How was it? Who won?"
"What was the final result? Who got first place?"
These people had been waiting in the third-floor VR gaming area for the final outcome, so they didn't know the ending. Out of all the pods, only three still had their doors closed. Old P and Deadfire opened their pod doors almost simultaneously.
Deadfire was a young guy with a streak of yellow hair. He gave Old P a thumbs-up. "Dude, that last push was insane."
Old P smiled. "Luck, just luck."
The next match wouldn't start for another 15 minutes, and the players in the VR area were all passionately discussing how to play the game. Old P, Deadfire, and a few others who had survived for a long time naturally became the center of attention, with many people crowding around them to ask questions.
However, Old P noticed that one gaming pod's door still hadn't opened.
What's going on? Didn't the game already end? Old P wondered to himself.
Two minutes later, the door opened. Chen Mo stepped out of the pod and stretched.
The nearby players were all startled. "Store Manager?"
Zou Zhuo's eyes lit up. "Hey, Store Manager, were you in the game just now? Which one was you?"
Chen Mo smiled. "I wasn't in the same match as you guys. I was playing against bots, testing the game."
Old P couldn't help but take a closer look at Chen Mo. After all, this was his first time seeing him in person.
So that's why there were only 79 players in the game. One pod was being used by Chen Mo, and he was playing against bots to test the game.
Zou Zhuo looked disdainful. "Wow, Store Manager actually went into the game to bully bots. Shame on you!"
Chen Mo chuckled. "If you don't like it, go ahead and bully them yourself."
"Really? Then I won't hold back! Playing with real players means I can't get a chicken dinner, but playing with bots should be no problem!"
After saying that, Zou Zhuo quickly climbed into the gaming pod, as if afraid someone would snatch it from him.
Chen Mo said to the crowd, "When you leave, feel free to grab a free 'Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner' themed T-shirt from the front desk. It's a giveaway, a limited edition, so don't forget."
"A limited edition T-shirt? Awesome, Store Manager!" Many players were thrilled. A T-shirt might not be a big deal, but a limited edition was different—it had collectible value!
Many players were already eagerly waiting for the next match to start. Zou Zhuo had been in the game earlier and died pretty badly, getting one-shot headshot by Old P's AWM... So after he crawled into Chen Mo's pod, his own pod was immediately taken by another player.
...
Zou Zhuo entered the gaming pod and quickly connected to all the VR pod's signals.
In his field of vision was still the final scene of Chen Mo killing an enemy, with a bold line of text on the screen: "Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner!" Along with data like the number of kills this round.
"So this is what it looks like to get first place. 17 kills? Hmm, Store Manager sure had fun bullying bots."
Zou Zhuo happily started the next match.
This gaming pod was connected to a different server, and the in-game features were modified. Entering the game meant you were playing against bots—it was Chen Mo's testing setup.
Zou Zhuo was thrilled, wanting to experience the thrill of bullying bots and getting a 17-kill chicken dinner himself.
"Store Manager knows how to have fun. Isn't this outfit the same as the main character's from the game poster?"
Zou Zhuo noticed that the character on Chen Mo's account was basically cosplaying the central figure from the game poster: a hooded trench coat, a plaid mask, sunglasses, and white casual pants. The resemblance was spot-on.
"Store Manager really knows how to play. Respect."
Zou Zhuo was pretty satisfied with this look and directly entered the next match.
He went straight to the spawn island. The countdown was still one minute, but the 100 players were already full instantly.
The other 99 people stood motionless on the spawn island. The scene was a bit creepy...
Zou Zhuo couldn't help muttering, "The AI Store Manager made is way too simple, right? They're supposed to be bots, but why don't they move at all?"
Since he had nothing to do, Zou Zhuo grabbed a gun and started wildly shooting, hitting all the bots around him. Even though you couldn't kill anyone on the spawn island, it at least let Zou Zhuo have some fun.
The countdown ended, and the game officially began.
Zou Zhuo had already played one round and survived until the top 20, so he was fairly familiar with the game's mechanics. He checked the plane's flight path. This time, it was still flying from south to north, but from southeast to northwest, eventually passing near the port area.
"Definitely jumping to the military base! It should be a blast for kills!"
Zou Zhuo thought happily. Obviously, on this map, if you wanted to rack up kills, the best choice was to jump to the military base. There were plenty of good guns there, and usually a lot of players. As long as you landed and grabbed a weapon, it was time for a massacre.
With that plan in mind, Zou Zhuo picked a good spot, left the plane, and plummeted straight down!
The wind howled. After opening his parachute, Zou Zhuo looked around at the sky. Whoa, over 20 people were dropping down!
Although the military base was a great spot, the bots weren't stupid. They didn't all rush to jump there.
Zou Zhuo aimed for a rooftop. He got lucky after landing and immediately picked up a submachine gun!
Zou Zhuo felt like laughing out loud. Landing on the same rooftop with him were two bots, while another bot was on the adjacent rooftop. The rest of the bots were scattered throughout the entire military base.
Zou Zhuo looked at the two bots on the same rooftop as if they were just loot boxes.
But just as Zou Zhuo finished reloading, one of the bots raised its 98k.
"Bang!"
A crisp gunshot rang out. A massive spray of blood appeared in Zou Zhuo's field of vision. He felt a very slight vibration at his forehead, and then the screen went black...
Zou Zhuo was completely dumbfounded. "I... I got headshot by a bot using iron sights on a 97k?!"
