Chapter 646: Battle Royale Promotional CG!
Actually, this was just a bandwagon effect. On one hand, many players were genuinely interested in Chen Mo’s new game; on the other hand, the discussion of this question and its answer on the forums had stirred up hype. Plus, with the microblog post being wildly reposted and commented on, many players clicked in out of casual curiosity, which led to the question being viewed 370,000 times.
Many people calculated Chen Mo’s net profit from this answer and found it was nearly 200,000 yuan, yet he had only said four words in total…
What the hell, that’s 50,000 yuan per word!
……
Chen Mo’s answer left many players feeling despair, because this wasn’t the game they wanted. However, some players consoled each other.
“It’s fine. Anyway, a small game like *Getting Over It* is easy to make even in VR. Chen Mo can finish it in at most a month, and after that, he’ll definitely make an FPS game. Let’s just wait patiently. Besides, when the VR version of *Getting Over It* comes out, we can use it to troll streamers—how sweet is that?”
Though they could comfort themselves, most players were still disappointed. This news also reached Emperor Dynasty Interactive and Zen Mind Interactive. Although many people expressed disbelief, it still became a hot topic, adding a small diversion to the post-New Year lull in the gaming industry.
After all, during this period, the big companies were all quietly developing new games, so there were few topics in the gaming industry.
Soon, as the development of the three games progressed, Emperor Dynasty Interactive and Zen Mind Interactive began releasing more promotional materials for their new games, including trailers and some in-game footage.
In the promotional trailer for *Wolf Soul: Modern Battlefield*, the focus was on special vehicles in the battlefield and large-scale combat scenes, with explosions and gunfire roaring, stirring up excitement.
As for *Blazing Assault*, it emphasized the construction of the game’s storyline, showcasing snippets from the main plot that left players with layers of mystery and eager anticipation.
As for Chen Mo’s side, many players were already asking: “Why hasn’t *Getting Over It* been released yet? It’s been a month, Chen Mo, your efficiency isn’t cutting it!”
Many players joked that other companies were all making gunfights, while only Chen Mo was making a game about swinging a sledgehammer—truly unique!
But what no player expected was that Chen Mo actually posted a microblog update, along with a game CG!
Many players were stunned: “A promotional CG? Chen Mo made a promotional CG for *Getting Over It*?”
Obviously, if Chen Mo posted a video, it had to be a promotional video for his own game. He wouldn’t just randomly share a hot girl dancing for no reason!
But did a game like *Getting Over It* even need a promotional CG?
To promote how to climb a mountain with a sledgehammer?!
Filled with heavy doubts, the players clicked on the CG.
First, there was a long shot. Below, the sea shimmered with rippling waves; in the sky, clouds drifted, and the sun was rising. In the distance, an island covered in lush vegetation appeared in view.
Against a rhythmic and intense background soundtrack, the camera rapidly zoomed in, skimming over the water and speeding toward the distant island.
A military transport plane flew across the sky.
Inside the cabin, characters of various appearances sat neatly in two rows. Meanwhile, a voice over the loudspeaker narrated to everyone.
“Today’s flight is fully booked, with a total of one hundred passengers heading to your final destination. However, you will find that this number gradually decreases.”
“We recommend you read the safety information card. After landing, you will discover vehicles, equipment, and weapons. You will also see the deadly blue wall activate.”
“Whether you are a first-time passenger on our flight or a frequent flyer, here’s a friendly reminder: If you are not the first…”
“Then you’re dead!”
Countless silhouettes with parachute packs jumped out of the plane, opening their chutes in midair.
The camera pulled back, revealing dozens of parachutes drifting in the sky below the plane—a spectacular sight.
The camera panned across various scenes. In an empty room, an AK rifle lay quietly on a table, with light streaming in through the window, illuminating the gun’s body.
Then came a series of quick shots. Many different characters were running across the desolate island. These characters wore simple clothes—often just vests and pants, some even barefoot.
A pretty, barefoot young woman ran forward holding a pistol, while in a house ahead, a fierce-looking man loaded bullets into a gun.
Characters crouched low, carefully moving from cover to cover, wary of enemies lurking somewhere unknown.
A military jeep sped by, leaping high over a slope before landing steadily. Behind the jeep, a small orange car and a three-wheeled motorcycle were in hot pursuit!
People leaned out of car windows, firing continuously at the jeep. In the intense chase, the jeep exploded in a massive fireball.
A motorcycle vaulted over a steep slope, flipped in midair, and landed safely. Beside it, enemies kept shooting, but the motorcycle was so fast it flashed by in an instant.
The blue zone closed in. A player was crawling desperately forward, while his teammate charged ahead, launching an attack on enemies inside a small building.
From a high vantage point, a sniper raised an AWM, aiming into the distance. Through the scope, he landed a shot on the driver of a vehicle!
Then came a series of thrilling scenes: different locations, different characters, different guns. It was a chaotic free-for-all, with everyone firing wildly at each other, constantly throwing grenades and Molotov cocktails—utter pandemonium.
Amid the montage of chaotic battles, the background music grew more and more urgent, then abruptly stopped as the screen went black!
But soon, the screen lit up again. On a small hill, a character holding a sniper rifle aimed into the distance, ready to pull the trigger at any moment.
But just then, a character in a ghillie suit crept up from behind, raised a frying pan, and smacked him hard on the head!
A crisp “clang” rang out, and the character in front sprayed blood and collapsed.
But the video wasn’t over yet.
The camera cut back to a character parachuting from the sky. As he descended through the clouds, lines of text began to appear in the air.
Early Access Start Date: April 1st.
Official Release Date: April 8th.
At the very end of the video, as the character touched the ground, the game’s title appeared on the screen.
*PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: Battle Royale*!
