Chapter 366: Insane Difficulty?
Basically, three days after *Outlast* launched, most streamers who were willing to play horror games had already tried it and gotten scared out of their wits. Enthusiastic players had even compiled highlight reels of streamers freaking out and posted them online. The audience had lost interest in teasing the streamers anymore.
No one really knew who started it, but suddenly everyone realized, "Hey, let's have Chen Mo play *Outlast*!" How could they forget this guy when it came to such a terrifying game?
Sure, Chen Mo had played *Warcraft* and *League of Legends*, but that was different.
Chen Mo selected the new game, but unlike other streamers, a difficulty selection screen popped up.
"Since Easy mode is no fun, I just used my developer permissions to tweak it a bit. We're going straight to Insane difficulty."
Chen Mo directly chose [Insane] difficulty and entered the game.
The barrage exploded instantly!
"What the hell? Insane difficulty! Chen Mo's lost his mind!!"
"Damn, can Insane difficulty even be played? A lot of streamers finished Easy mode and didn't want to play it a second time!"
"Chen Mo is such a suicidal daredevil. Alright, since you're this brave, I'll let your earlier show-off slide. Just sit tight and wait for the monsters to teach you a lesson!"
*Outlast* had four difficulties: Easy, Normal, Nightmare, and Insane. Initially, players all started on Easy by default and could only challenge higher difficulties after clearing it. The higher the difficulty, the fewer batteries the DV could carry, and the higher the monster damage. Many streamers, after beating Easy, were already getting wrecked on Normal, let alone the highest Insane difficulty?
But even more shocking was yet to come.
After Chen Mo selected Insane difficulty, a dialog box popped up on the screen.
**[Are you insane?! Insane mode will give you the ultimate heart-pounding experience. It's the highest difficulty with no save points. If you die, all progress will be lost, and you'll have to start from scratch. Are you really ready to be tortured?]**
Chen Mo didn't hesitate to choose [Yes].
He even explained on the side: "This warning is just to scare you. It's not that hard. Oh, but there really are no save points on this difficulty. That part's true."
Another wave of barrage hit. The viewers watching the livestream were stunned. No save points? How the hell were you supposed to play that?
Wouldn't it be just like *Getting Over It*? Die to the final boss once, and everything resets? All the progress you made is wasted?
Holy crap, this game could actually be played like that? That's way too intense!
