Chapter 1165: This Really Is a Fun Game

Entering the game, the first thing that played was an opening cutscene.

A truck transporting superhumans sped by, and by the lakeside lighthouse, the faint cries of seagulls could be heard.

In a lakeside town, a young man wearing a hoodie, a jacket, and sneakers leaped between rooftops, finally arriving at a roof facing a massive billboard.

At this point, Lin Xue found herself possessing this young man. The next task was to use spray paint to graffiti on that huge billboard.

The graffiti was simple: first, place a pre-cut stencil over the board, then spray wildly with the paint can. The operation wasn't complicated at all.

After spraying, the originally handsome police officer turned into a ridiculous figure—one hand holding a water gun, the other pinching a donut with a delicate gesture, drooping eyebrows, and a mysterious smile on his face.

The protagonist stepped back two paces, looking very satisfied with the result.

This game wasn't an ultra-high-freedom game like Iron Man. The dialogue was still handled by the characters themselves. What the player had to do was control the protagonist's actions and make him do specific things.

The opening plot wasn't complicated. This young man named Delson was a native born and raised here, but he had loved pranks since childhood. The poor police officer he had graffitied was his older brother.

Just after he finished spraying, his brother came back. Delson tried to slip away, going to great lengths to take a detour to establish an alibi, but he was still caught by his brother.

There was a fairly long parkour sequence in the middle, involving rooftop jumps and climbing. But for Lin Xue, having played so many climbing games, this part was just average—nothing particularly impressive.

The brother and younger brother had an argument. Clearly, the younger brother thought graffiti was a way to showcase his talent, while the brother, being a police officer, considered it vandalism. He was also annoyed that he had to arrest his own brother every time.

As the two were arguing, Delson suddenly noticed an armored personnel carrier truck wobbling toward them, shoving parked cars aside as it came.

This behemoth had clearly crashed many times along the way. The front hood was billowing black smoke, the windshield was cracked and riddled with bullet holes.

After smashing into another car, the truck instantly lost balance and flipped over completely!

The brothers were startled. As the truck overturned, two prisoners in yellow jumpsuits and handcuffs stumbled out, panicking as they ran away.

"I'll chase those two. Don't go near that thing—it might explode!"

As a police officer, the brother charged after them without hesitation.

Lin Xue initially planned to listen to her brother, but she noticed a prisoner pinned under the wreckage of the car, which was already on fire. If she didn't save him, he would probably die here.

At that moment, a mission objective appeared in Lin Xue's field of vision: Rescue survivors.

"So, following the normal procedure, I'm not supposed to listen to my brother, huh... Fine."

Lin Xue ran over and helped lift the heavy object off the prisoner. But as he crawled out, Lin Xue noticed an unusual black smoke emanating from his body.

She had thought the black smoke was coming from the truck, but now it seemed it was coming from this person!

Just as Lin Xue finished rescuing him, she heard her brother's voice from behind: "Are you okay?"

Seeing the police officer, the prisoner instantly turned hostile, grabbing the protagonist by the neck!

The two were locked in a standoff. The prisoner raised a strange flame in his left hand, ready to attack the brother. In desperation, the protagonist grabbed it, but his consciousness immediately plunged into a sea of countless memory fragments!

Lin Xue felt her vision go black as she collapsed to the ground.

She didn't know how long passed before she finally woke up. Looking around, everything was in chaos.

The priority was to find her brother. After all, as an ordinary person fighting a superhuman, it was obviously dangerous no matter how you looked at it.

Lin Xue walked forward, feeling something strange about her body.

It was as if some kind of elemental energy was surging inside her. With a thought, she discovered she had transformed into a burst of flame, instantly crossing seven or eight meters!

"What was that just now? I don't... What the hell is this?!"

The protagonist Delson shared the same confusion as Lin Xue. Clearly, he had also been infected with superpowers, probably because his hand had touched the prisoner who was using his abilities.

The sensation from that moment was so thrilling that Lin Xue couldn't help wanting to experience it again.

When she activated the ability, the protagonist's entire body turned into flames and smoke. These clusters of flame instantly crossed seven or eight meters, then reassembled into the protagonist's body.

Moreover, this wasn't just a movement ability—it was more like a mage's Blink spell, allowing free passage through any obstacle, since fire could seep through anything.

"Wow, this feels amazing!"

Having mastered the superpower, Lin Xue immediately became ecstatic and started charging around recklessly. There were no restrictions on using this ability, except for a one- to two-second cooldown between uses.

Basically, she could go anywhere she wanted, and the movement speed was astonishing.

As they moved forward, after protagonist Delson rescued his brother, the brother was also shocked by what had happened to him. Still, he comforted his younger brother, saying they would definitely find a way to cure this superpower.

Several superhumans had already caused chaos in the town. The brothers decided to capture them. Although the brother repeatedly told his younger brother not to use his powers anymore, the protagonist had to keep using this new ability to get past various obstacles along the way.

"This superpower is so useful—why are they complaining about it? Oh, I guess it's because in this game's world, superhumans are all seen as criminals and locked up."

Lin Xue muttered. Emotionally, she definitely sided with the superhumans, since these abilities were so cool. But considering the game's broader setting, she could understand why others reacted to superhumans the way they did.

The two tracked the superhuman prisoners to a fish cannery. Lin Xue discovered that her superpower could even let her move quickly through ventilation ducts—very practical indeed.

After coming out of the second vent, Lin Xue found herself high in the air, then fell more than ten meters to the ground!

But strangely, Delson was completely unharmed, feeling no pain at all.

Lin Xue experienced this bizarre sensation and exclaimed in delight, "It feels just like Prototype! This really is a fun game!"
