Chapter 1135: A Legendary Invitation (First Update)

If there’s one major flaw with Oasis 1.0 right now, it’s that the connections between the various games aren’t tight enough yet.

Players can level up their characters after clearing each scenario and bring some special skills into other scenarios, but there’s still no fully developed system that can stitch all the scenarios together into a cohesive whole.

Of course, at the root of it, the game units are still too few. Over three hundred games are far from enough. More new game units will continue to be developed in the future, possibly reaching several thousand, with constant updates and iterations. After that, platforms like the Matrix Shopping Center will be built to tightly link the entire Oasis together.

But that’s the goal for Oasis 2.0, which still seems relatively far off.

The computer screen beside him lit up, and Jarvis said, “If the invitation list is finalized, we can send it out now.”

Chen Mo nodded. “Alright, send it.”

Jarvis hesitated for a moment. “The content is a bit simple. Are you sure you don’t want to write a few more lines for such a big occasion?”

Chen Mo smiled. “No need. We’re both pretty averse to trouble.”

……

……

“Another guild event to prepare for. This daily schedule is more exhausting than a real job.”

“Ah, it’s Double Eleven again. I have to resist the urge to chop off my hands…”

“But come to think of it, there hasn’t been much hype for Double Eleven this year. It’s still the old tradition of all discounts, and I haven’t heard about any special events. That doesn’t seem like Sellen’s style.”

Zou Zhuo’s Tauren warrior woke up in the inn, muttering to himself.

He yawned, pulled a glass of iced milk from his backpack, and drank it down. Then he went to the inn’s first floor, ordered a glass of rum from the barkeep, and sipped it while pulling out his adventure journal to check what quests were still available.

The guild event wasn’t starting until 2 AM, and it was only midnight now. Zou Zhuo had plenty of time to kill.

He could fill the time with all sorts of activities—doing low-level quests, flipping items at the auction house, leveling up his profession skills, and so on.

Or he could just drink at the inn and shoot the breeze with the Troll girl next to him. That worked too.

Normally, guild events started at 1 AM, but today was special—it was Double Eleven.

Players had mostly forgotten that the day originally meant Singles’ Day. Instead, they all remembered that on Double Eleven, Thunder Interactive’s games would inevitably have flashy discounts, making it an exceptionally dangerous day.

One moment of carelessness, and your hands were gone. Believe it or not.

The guild had probably considered that many players would be frantically shopping right after midnight, so they pushed the event back to avoid a flood of last-minute leave requests that would make organizing even more of a hassle.

Suddenly, Zou Zhuo noticed a new mail notification at the edge of his vision.

“Unread mail, from… Chen Mo? Huh?”

Zou Zhuo was completely baffled. When he glanced around at the other players in the inn, they all had similar reactions.

“A mass email? And the sender is Chen Mo? What the hell!”

Zou Zhuo got up from his seat at the bar and headed for the mailbox by the inn’s entrance. As a Tauren with long legs, he covered the distance in a few strides. His massive frame blocked the mailbox, drawing complaints from the Undead and Orcs behind him.

“Get your letter and move! Have some decency!” someone yelled from the back.

Zou Zhuo flicked his cow tail in disdain but still grabbed the letter and squeezed out of the crowd.

In just a few minutes, a flood of players was already crowding around the mailbox. The other mailboxes in Orgrimmar were similarly swarmed. The VR version of World of Warcraft had very realistic collision detection, so if a few big guys blocked the mailbox, others couldn’t reach it.

Of course, not being able to reach it didn’t mean they couldn’t do anything. They could always just drag the blockers away…

Luckily, everyone had some decency. Players started lining up voluntarily. Even though the lines stretched out long, everyone grabbed their letters and left, so everything stayed orderly.

Zou Zhuo was in the inn, so he was among the first to get his letter. As he walked out, he opened the mail.

“Huh??? A wedding invitation????”

A million question marks popped up in the little fatty’s head. The letter he received wasn’t an ordinary one—it was a beautifully crafted invitation. Both the craftsmanship and the patterns on it were exquisite. And, incredibly, it was a legendary item, with the item name displayed in orange text.

The front of the invitation bore the emblems of both the Alliance and the Horde, split half red and half blue. The overall color scheme was clearly well thought out, not feeling jarring or out of place.

The back of the invitation was covered with emblems from other organizations, including the Cenarion Circle, the Argent Dawn, the Darkmoon Faire, the Keepers of Time, the Goblins, the Bloodsail Buccaneers, the Thorium Brotherhood, the Keepers of Time…

These emblems didn’t take up much space, but they included nearly every major neutral faction in Azeroth, all neatly arranged on the back of the invitation, like one big happy family.

Zou Zhuo opened the invitation and saw three simple lines of text:

Groom: Chen Mo
Bride: Li Jingsi
Cordially invites your presence!

Zou Zhuo froze for a second. “Oh, so it’s Chen Mo’s wedding invitation.”

“Huh? Wait, Chen Mo’s wedding invitation???”

The little fatty suddenly shouted, “Holy crap, a wedding invitation? What the hell!”

……

Every World of Warcraft player around the world received an email from Chen Mo at the same moment.

And it was a legendary item. Using it had a special effect: teleporting the caster to Mount Hyjal.

The news exploded instantly. Its impact wasn’t limited to the tens of millions of WoW players—it spread like wildfire across the internet and into all sorts of gaming communities.

“Holy shit? Chen Mo is getting married? And he’s sending invitations to all the players?”

“Today isn’t April Fools’ Day, it’s Double Eleven! What’s Chen Mo’s deal, is he going to rub our faces in relationship drama on this special day?”

“Looks like that’s exactly what he’s doing! This is shameless!”

“Come to think of it, Sellen was bound to get married sooner or later. I just don’t know who this Li Jingsi is.”

“But I haven’t heard anything about them having a real-life wedding. No rumors at all!”

“Damn it! Sellen is such a traitor!!!”

“Why are you so worked up, dude? You want to marry Chen Mo or something?”

“Hell no, I’m a guy! I’m just really emotional. I’ve been playing Chen Mo’s games since college, and all my classmates got married after graduation. I always told myself, ‘It’s fine, Chen Mo’s made a fortune and he’s not married either.’ But now even he’s abandoning me!! As a single dog, I feel like I’ve taken a ten-million-point critical hit!”
