Chapter 1109: The History of Darrowshire (Third Update)

When Zou Zhuo and his group attempted to enter Darrowshire to explore, they quickly encountered resistance.
Many ghosts began to attack them. These ghosts all had human appearances, but it was clear they had completely lost their sanity.

In the end, Zou Zhuo and his team found Pamela Redpath among the ruins of a house. She had two neat pigtails, wore a dress, and was happily hopping and playing. However, a faint blue glow surrounded her, and her body was semi-transparent. Clearly, she was dead, having become a ghost.

“Where is my sister Jessica? She left when I was still a very, very little girl. I don’t know why she was crying when she went away. We used to play games together, dance together, pick flowers around the house, and we’d often hide to scare Daddy! I really hope Jessica comes back soon. If she does, Daddy should come back too, and we can play together like before…”

“Auntie told me to stay home because Daddy went out to fight. Daddy is the bravest warrior! After it got dark, I could only play with my doll, but I think I lost it in the town. Can you help me find my doll?”

Zou Zhuo tried to talk to the little girl, but she seemed completely unaware that she was dead and had become a ghost. She was still happily reminiscing about the beautiful moments of the past.

Clearly, little Pamela had no memory of what had happened. She was now just a ghost, living in the memories of the past.

After searching the entire Darrowshire, they finally managed to find the parts of the doll for the little girl. Once they assembled the doll’s head, right side, and left side, Zou Zhuo handed the doll to Pamela.

Pamela was very happy and then asked Zou Zhuo and his group to help her find her aunt and Uncle Carlin.

Pamela’s aunt was in a place called Sorrow Hill in Andorhal, in the Western Plaguelands. In a lonely house, Zou Zhuo found Marlene Redpath, who had also become a ghost.

Aunt Marlene was worried about Pamela but didn’t dare tell her the truth about her father, Joseph. It turned out that Pamela’s father, Joseph, had died in battle against the Scourge and had turned into a monster. However, Aunt Marlene hoped to change his fate. If they could find Joseph’s tombstone, retrieve the ring buried beneath it, and give it to the gnome mage Chromie, perhaps everything could be changed.

After finding the ring in the cemetery outside the house, the group fought their way through the encirclement and arrived at the northwest of Andorhal. In the second floor of an abandoned inn, they found the eccentric gnome mage Chromie. Chromie told them that the situation was irreversible, but perhaps they could go back in time to save the warrior’s soul.

First, they needed to go to the town center of Andorhal and find a book called *The History of Darrowshire*.

The abandoned municipal center of Andorhal was filled with moldy books. The group sat among piles of bones and smashed furniture, flipping through them one by one.

“This isn’t it.”
“This one… Holy crap, how did a ghoul get summoned?!”
“Holy crap, I think I found it! Help me kill this monster!”
“Alright, it’s dealt with. Let’s see what this book says.”

The group sat on the floor in the town center, and Lin Xue began reading the book’s contents aloud.

The book detailed the origin and history of Darrowshire’s name, noting that many heroes had once been born there. During the middle of the Second Demon War, Darrowshire’s connection to the main Alliance forces was cut off. The town’s garrison included a squad of paladins from the Silver Hand, as well as a militia led by Joseph Redpath.

They fought valiantly, crushing wave after wave of Scourge attacks. However, Joseph was corrupted by the dark magic of the death knight Marduk. The fallen Captain Joseph spread this evil power to Darrowshire’s defenders. The infected soldiers turned traitor and ultimately turned their blades against the civilians hiding in Darrowshire.

In the end, Darrowshire was destroyed, and the Scourge legion, along with Captain Joseph, left the ruins to join the battlefields of Lordaeron.

Chromie completed the book and asked Zou Zhuo and his group to take it to the Chapel of Light’s Hope and hand it to Joseph’s younger brother, Pamela’s uncle Carlin.

Zou Zhuo and the others arrived at the Chapel of Light’s Hope, where they found Carlin Redpath, who had become a member of the Argent Crusade. Carlin asked Zou Zhuo and his team to hunt down the ghouls and free the souls of Darrowshire’s residents.

When Zou Zhuo showed Carlin the completed *History of Darrowshire* that Chromie had filled in, Carlin was shocked because it revealed the whereabouts of several Scourge leaders. The Ghoul King, Horgus the Ravager, and the death knight Marduk had once been defeated but were now missing. Carlin hoped the group could retrieve Horgus’s insignia and Marduk’s sword to prove that the history Chromie had written was true.

Additionally, Carlin asked Zou Zhuo and the others to find the holy relic of Darrowshire’s paladin Davil, as well as Captain Joseph’s shield.

The group traveled across the entire Plaguelands, eventually gathering all these items. The relics of Darrowshire’s heroes, defenders, and demons—everything related to that event—were collected and handed over to Carlin.

The hardest item to obtain was likely the holy relic of Paladin Davil. It was located in Hearthglen, the stronghold of the Scarlet Crusade. Zou Zhuo and his team fought their way in alongside other squads, barely managing to retrieve it.

According to Chromie, these relics were essential materials for casting a powerful spell, but they also required the insignia of the Scourge forces that had participated in the Battle of Darrowshire.

After gathering everything, the group returned to the ruins of Andorhal to find the gnome mage Chromie.

Chromie told Zou Zhuo that if they placed this bundle of relics in Darrowshire’s town square, it would awaken the souls of Darrowshire’s residents. They would then reenact the Battle of Darrowshire.

However, two conditions had to be ensured during this process:
After Horgus died, Paladin Davil must survive.
Furthermore, Captain Joseph Redpath must also survive until he was corrupted and fell. At that point, if they defeated him, his soul could be redeemed.

Once the purification was complete, Captain Joseph Redpath’s soul would appear in the square. They could then speak with his soul and find little Pamela, allowing the restless spirits of Darrowshire to finally find peace.
