Chapter 941: The White-Robed God in Red

"Hello?"

Lin Qiye brought the phone to his ear.

"Hello?! Qiye? Is that you?" Baili Pangpang's voice came through from the other end.

"Pangpang?" Lin Qiye was stunned. "How did you get through to this number?"

He had to remember—he wasn't in Great Xia right now, nor was he in the Mist. He was inside the "Human Enclosure" within the Yata Mirror. Logically speaking, a regular cell phone signal shouldn't be able to connect to Great Xia at all.

"Jiang Er linked up to the electronic signals inside the 'Human Enclosure,' and Zhuaige said he knew your phone number while you were in the 'Human Enclosure,' so we figured we'd give it a shot. Can't believe it actually went through!"

"Jiang Er tapped into the Human Enclosure's signal? Where are you guys right now?"

"Oh, we just passed through the deep-sea mirror rift and we're still making our way through the ruins."

Lin Qiye stood frozen for a moment before speaking in amazement, "You guys entered the 'Human Enclosure' too? How did you know I was here?"

"Hehe, we managed to get an ally you would never in a million years expect." Baili Pangpang said mysteriously. "You'll find out when we meet up."

"...Alright, the situation inside the 'Human Enclosure' is chaotic right now. Be careful. Let's meet up in Osaka."

"Got it! Captain Lin~"

"You said you're still making your way through the ruins?"

"Yeah."

Lin Qiye thought for a moment, his eyes glinting with a faint light. "If it won't be too much trouble... there's something I need you to get for me."

"..."

Osaka.
Air-raid Shelter.

A woman clutching her child was led by a member of the Black Killing Squad into the air-raid shelter.

Above their heads, the earth thundered and shook continuously. As the corpse beasts trampled the ground, gravel trickled down from the ceiling, scattering through the air-raid shelter. The roars of the corpse beasts, now terrifyingly close, echoed overhead like thunder.

Countless residents who hadn't escaped in time packed the air-raid shelter, huddled into balls, their reddened eyes wide open, staring fixedly at the ceiling above. Terror was written all over their faces.

"The monsters are up there! They're right above us! I can hear them breathing!"

"Is this place really sturdy? What if the monsters crush through?"

"My child! Has anyone seen my child?! He's fourteen, about this tall... Excuse me, have you seen my son? Please... he's still so young, he can't survive without me!!"

"Get lost, you crazy woman! Who's got time to help you find your kid? It's chaos out there! On my way in, I saw a little boy on the roadside with half his body crushed—might've been your kid. Stop your wailing! If you attract the monsters over here, I'll cut you up myself!"

"You—"

"He's right, woman. You'd better shut up!"

"Where's the White-Robed God? It's been so long—why hasn't the White-Robed God come?!"

"Maybe he's rescuing people elsewhere?"

"What the hell! Other people's lives matter, but mine don't? Isn't he supposed to be a savior? Why won't he rescue me!"

"..."

In the dim, low-ceilinged air-raid shelter, crying, cursing, and growling intermingled into complete chaos. Under extreme terror, the eyes of most people had taken on a reddish hue. Rage and savagery spread rapidly through the underground space!

"I've got it! I know how to lure those monsters away!"

"Quick, tell us! What should we do?"

"The monsters like killing, right? We push a few people out as bait—let them draw the monsters' attention, lead them away from above our heads, and then we're safe, right?!"

"Yes, yes! Then we'd be safe!"

"Let's push out that crazy woman looking for her kid! If she keeps making noise like that, she'll attract the monsters sooner or later!"

"And that kid over there—the young one, they can run fast! They'll keep the monsters occupied longer... Damn it, kid, what are you staring at? Feel like dying? I'll kill you right now!"

"That little girl sitting in the corner looks good too..."

"..."

From the crowd, several burly men with the reddest eyes stood up. They pulled out knives and stones from god-knows-where, their expressions vicious as they walked toward the women and children huddled in the corner.

Except for those who had been targeted—struggling and screaming as they were dragged—everyone else sat quietly in the corners, pretending not to see, turning their heads away with nothing but cold indifference in their eyes. Some even stood up to help those men throw the women and children out.

Under the Red Moon's corruption and extreme terror, they had all lost their reason, becoming murderers with bloodstained hands.

The selected few, under threat of death, were forcibly driven out of the air-raid shelter. The roars of the corpse beasts echoed in their ears. Some stood frozen in place before massive palms came down, crushing them to pulp.

The remaining people finally came to their senses and ran sobbing toward the distance.

When he saw the corpse beasts had been successfully lured away, the burly man who had proposed the idea smiled—until several hands suddenly clamped onto his shoulders and shoved him outward!

"They won't last long running. You're so buff—you should be able to last much longer, right?"

He turned his head to find several others pressing knives against him, smirking coldly.

The burly man's eyes went wide, his eyes blazing scarlet red. A fierce expression twisted across his face as he whipped out a knife and stabbed it into the heart of the man beside him!

"You dare scheme against me? Looking to die?!"

Screams and chaos erupted. The air-raid shelter descended into total pandemonium. Pairs of bloodshot eyes reflected the blood pooling on the ground, mirroring countless faces twisted with madness and lost reason.

They had begun killing each other.

...

Several frail women and small children sprinted through the streets reduced to rubble!

Their piercing screams echoed across the sky. Behind them on the ground, a massive black shadow was rapidly closing in!

Fear! Fear! And more fear!

Suddenly, the woman carrying the infant stumbled and fell hard. The baby tumbled to the ground beside her, its cries growing weaker by the moment.

The woman's eyes went wide as she whipped her head around. That bull-like black shadow had already raised its massive hoof, bringing it down toward her head with devastating force!

Swoosh—!!

In that instant, a spear streaked across the sky like lightning, its body wrapped in science-fiction-esque ethereal light, piercing clean through the corpse beast's foot.

The corpse beast howled in pain and stumbled back two steps. Its crimson eyes locked onto the end of the road, furious roars tearing from its throat!

The woman stared for a long moment before turning to look. On the other side of the road, a figure was slowly making its way forward.

His steps were unsteady. Cascading white hair hung behind him, matted together with blood and grime. Every few steps, he would lower his head to cough, wisps of blood trickling from his pale lips and dripping to the ground.

In those cross-shaped, star-like eyes was nothing but infinite weakness and exhaustion.

His white robe had been dyed crimson.
