Chapter 931: The Number One Host in Japan
"Yuzuri Nana……"
Lin Qiye murmured this name softly.
"Hey! Why did you suddenly jump down?" Jinian walked to the window, asking in confusion.
Lin Qiye stood before the club's entrance for a long while, then raised his head and said, "I'm going out for a bit……"
Afterward, he turned and ran in a certain direction.
Seeing Lin Qiye leave for no apparent reason, question marks floated above Jinian's head. She shrugged and sat back on the leather sofa.
Suddenly, her gaze fell upon the massive black screen hanging at the very top of the club's main hall, directly across from the private room. On the screen's surface, white letters outlined name after name, each one embedded with varying numbers of glittering crystals that shimmered with dreamlike light under the blue-purple illumination.
"Kendo Kento, zero crystals……Namaura Yota, one crystal……" Jinian read the names carved on the screen from bottom to top. "What are these?"
"This is the ranking of the entire Japanese host industry." The blue-clad host explained. "When this club was first built, the family head gathered all the famous host clubs across Japan to hold this ranking competition. One crystal represents a guest tipping ten thousand yen. Final rankings of popular hosts are determined by the number of crystals.
Unfortunately, the world fell into chaos right as this event was taking off. All the other hosts went out of business, leaving only us still hanging on the rankings."
Jinian's eyes swept across the screen. Most names had nothing behind them—not a single crystal. Only a handful had a sparse scattering of crystals.
Jinian clicked her tongue. "Your business really is in a sorry state, huh?"
"In these times, who would still spend money at host clubs? Having one or two crystals is already pretty good." The blue-clad host self-deprecatingly smiled.
Jinian's gaze gradually moved upward, finally stopping at the very top of the rankings, and she let out a soft exclamation.
"Why is the first place name in gold? And why does it have no crystals, only a piece of obsidian?"
The blue-clad host stared at that golden name for a long while, then helplessly smiled. "That one is different from us……
In a sense, this so-called ranking competition exists because of that one person alone. Even this largest host club in all of Japan belongs to him. He's the true boss here.
There's no crystals behind his name because……this screen simply can't hold them all.
The day the rankings were first posted, the family head personally tipped him one billion yen on his behalf—equivalent to ten thousand crystals—placing him at the top of Japan.
From the moment this event began, the outcome was already set…… Whether anyone else participated, how many tips others received, whether the apocalypse came—none of it mattered.
Even if he were the only contestant, the family head would use the most grand, most stunning method to place that person on the throne of Japan's Number One Host……
Japan's Number One Host, Asaba Nanaya."
"Your family head is really overbearing, huh?" Jinian couldn't help but exclaim. "But this name…… Asaba, Nanaya…… Nanaya……"
Jinian repeated this name over and over. Combined with Lin Qiye's expression just moments ago, a bold idea suddenly flashed through her mind.
She turned and looked toward the direction Lin Qiye had left, her mouth falling open in shock:
"No way……"
……
The Kazori Estate.
In the spacious room, Yuzuri Nana knelt alone at the table, two pairs of chopsticks neatly arranged. Before her, two servings of cold tonkatsu rice lay untouched.
Her hands resting on her knees were clenched tightly.
She glanced at the time on the wall and called toward outside: "Takuya, has Takishiro come back?"
Kazori Takuya walked into the room, his expression complex as he glanced at the two servings of cold tonkatsu rice on the table, and shook his head. "No……"
Yuzuri Nana sighed helplessly, picked up the two servings of cold tonkatsu rice, and turned to head toward the kitchen.
"Young lady, why don't you eat something first? Takishiro just called and said he won't be back for a while." Kazori Takuya couldn't help but say. "You went out with us to suppress the riots today, you're already exhausted. If you don't eat something, your body will break down."
Yuzuri Nana stood in place, her lips pressed together tightly, saying nothing.
Just then, the sound of a door opening echoed from the distance.
Yuzuri Nana's eyes immediately brightened. She set down the tonkatsu rice and rushed toward the door. "Takishiro!"
She had barely stepped outside when her body froze in place.
There stood Amemiya Haruki, carrying a box on his back, looking at her helplessly. Behind him was a young man with a sword at his waist.
"Rainfall Collapse brother……" Yuzuri Nana forced a bitter smile.
"Has Takishiro not returned yet?" Amemiya Haruki looked around and asked.
"No."
Amemiya Haruki frowned and sighed helplessly.
"Rainfall Collapse brother, have you eaten?" Yuzuri Nana adjusted her emotions and asked with a smile.
"I've eaten……" Amemiya Haruki started to say, but his peripheral vision caught the two servings of cold tonkatsu rice on the table. After a moment of silence, he changed his answer. "I've eaten a little, but I'm still hungry. Could you make something else for us?"
"Of course, wait here, I'll go make a few more dishes."
Yuzuri Nana turned and walked into the kitchen.
A short while later, she emerged carrying several steaming hot dishes.
Amemiya Haruki took a couple bites, glanced at Yuzuri Nana who was silently sitting across from them without touching her chopsticks, and said helplessly, "It looks odd for you to just watch us eat like this. Join us…… When Takishiro comes back, we can make another serving."
Seeing that Amemiya Haruki had spoken, Yuzuri Nana hesitated briefly before picking up her bowl and starting to eat heartily, as if she were famished.
Seeing this, Amemiya Haruki smiled faintly. "I haven't properly introduced you yet. This is the【Lady Wu】blade master, Hoshimi Shota."
"Hello, I'm Shota." Hoshimi Shota bowed politely.
Yuzuri Nana bowed in return.
This was the first time Amemiya Haruki had brought another blade master home to meet Yuzuri Nana.
"Rainfall Collapse brother, has something happened?" Yuzuri Nana thought for a moment and asked.
"It's good news, actually." Amemiya Haruki slowly set down his bowl and said seriously. "We…… may have found the location of the final Magatsu Blade."
Hearing this, Yuzuri Nana's eyes brightened. "So the country can be saved?"
"According to the prophecy, yes." Hoshimi Shota wiped his mouth and answered. "The biggest problem now is that, according to another prophecy, the location of the final Magatsu Blade is extremely dangerous. It would be difficult for just Shota and myself to retrieve it……
We need more Magatsu Blade masters to help."
