Chapter 706: Capturing Wei Dong
Lin Qiye's eyes gradually brightened.
He had long suspected that the "Japan" he was in was not the real Japan, because Japan had been shrouded in mist a hundred years ago—a fact that could not be changed. As for what the "Japan" he was in actually was, he still had no definitive answer.
But if his guess was correct, through this ruins, he could return to the mist world, and thus return to Great Xia!
What an unexpected joy.
Just then, a large group of figures walked toward Lin Qiye.
Nearly forty "mysteries" of different species, dressed in deep cyan orderly uniforms, walked over like a gang of thugs, swaggering confidently. Walking at the front, A Zhu held his head high, dragging a burlap sack behind him on the ground. Though small in stature, his presence was commanding.
"Boss, I've caught him for you!" A Zhu smiled confidently. "We gave him a good beating, disarmed him of all his weapons, and now he's being very cooperative."
As he spoke, the raccoon beside him handed over the functional backpack, sniper rifle, handgun, and two short blades to Lin Qiye.
Lin Qiye picked up the sniper rifle and fiddled with it for a moment before setting it back down. He then picked up the pixel-style handgun, and a look of surprise crossed his face.
"This gun... why is it like this?"
He raised his hand and fired casually at a nearby wall. The moment the bullet touched the wall, it exploded into a burst of pixelated fire, and then the entire wall disintegrated into pixels and vanished.
Lin Qiye's pupils constricted.
He looked down at the toy-like handgun in his hand, his gaze growing solemn.
Forbidden artifact?
Who was this person?
Lin Qiye walked to the burlap sack and opened it. Inside lay a young man with a bruised and swollen face, eyes tightly closed, having already fallen unconscious.
He had to admit, the folks from the dining department had been relatively restrained. At least there were no missing arms or legs, and the injuries were only flesh wounds, nothing serious. But this face... it was so swollen that even his own mother wouldn't recognize him.
"Well done, good work." Lin Qiye ruffled A Zhu's head. "Go back and cook."
"Bye, Boss!"
All the orderlies bowed simultaneously. With flashes of magical light, they all vanished on the spot. The entire street grew empty again, leaving only Lin Qiye, Amemiya Haruki, and the unconscious Wei Dong.
Having this many helpers was certainly convenient, but their existence was also a tremendous mental burden on Lin Qiye. Being outside for a short while was fine, but for too long, it would actually drain Lin Qiye's energy.
"What are you going to do with him?" Amemiya Haruki walked up to Lin Qiye and asked.
"Bring him along for now. When he wakes up, we'll interrogate him and see if we can learn anything." Lin Qiye glanced at the pixel handgun and the sniper rifle. "Someone who can find their way here and possesses these things definitely isn't an ordinary person."
After a moment of hesitation, Lin Qiye stuffed the unconscious Wei Dong back into the burlap sack, tied the opening with rope, and dragged it along the ground.
"By the way, what do you think this is?" Amemiya Haruki found a pixel-style watch in the backpack.
Lin Qiye took the watch. The screen of the dial showed a radar-like探测图, with several flashing red triangles marked on it, as well as a deep blue dot pulsing steadily in a fixed direction.
Lin Qiye studied the positions of those red triangles and after a moment of thought, said, "These triangles should be infrared alarm devices he set up. Then what is this deep blue dot?"
This mysterious person had entered the ruins much earlier than Lin Qiye and his companion, giving him ample time to explore the area. And he had deliberately marked this location—what did it mean?
What was special about this place?
Lin Qiye followed the direction indicated by the blue dot on the watch face and found that it pointed exactly toward the source of the faint blue glow scattered across the sky, though it was still quite a distance away.
"We've pretty much explored this area. Let's go check out the place marked on this. We might find something unexpected." After some contemplation, Lin Qiye made his decision.
Amemiya Haruki had no objections. He trusted Lin Qiye's judgment absolutely.
The two walked in the direction of the blue dot for quite some time. The city ruins around them grew fewer and fewer, while debris of reefs, seaweed, and large fish scattered on the ground and floating in the air became increasingly numerous. The faint blue glow in the sky drifted like silk ribbons, dreamlike and mysterious.
Suddenly, the burlap sack that Lin Qiye was dragging twitched slightly.
Lin Qiye's brow raised, and he stopped in his tracks.
"Looks like someone's about to wake up..." Amemiya Haruki gazed at the burlap sack as it gradually began to struggle.
Lin Qiye dropped the sack on the ground and opened the rope. Before he could clearly see the person inside, a flash of cold light burst forth from the sack, striking directly toward Lin Qiye's throat.
It was a hidden spike concealed in a ring!
"Hm?"
Lin Qiye let out a soft exclamation. His terrifying dynamic vision had already seen through the man's movements. He tilted his head slightly to dodge the attack, then grabbed the man's wrist and twisted with force!
Snap—!
With a crisp sound, Wei Dong's wrist was broken. He clenched his teeth in pain, beads of sweat dripping from his forehead, but he didn't make a sound.
After being knocked unconscious by those unidentified Great Xia "mysteries," he had lost consciousness and didn't know why he was in a burlap sack or who was dragging him along. Fortunately, his combat experience was quite rich. He had intended to seize the initiative with this sneak attack, but he never expected it to be so easily countered.
Lin Qiye released Wei Dong's hand and removed the ring. He squatted before the battered Wei Dong and spoke slowly in Japanese:
"Nice moves. Who are you?"
Wei Dong's face was deathly pale, but his eyes remained cold as he stared at Lin Qiye, showing no intention of answering.
Not talking?
Lin Qiye wasn't surprised by this.
Calmly, he raised the pixel watch and waved it in front of Wei Dong's face. "What place does this blue dot mark?"
When Wei Dong saw the watch in Lin Qiye's possession, his pupils constricted sharply. Lin Qiye caught this subtle change of expression and became even more certain that this place was important.
"Are you from the Magatsu Blade faction? What are you doing here?"
Wei Dong didn't answer Lin Qiye's question. Instead, he countered with a question of his own, trying to divert their attention.
Lin Qiye naturally wouldn't fall for this trick. He glanced at Wei Dong, slowly stood up, and gripped the watch in his hand, offering a slight smile.
"It doesn't matter if you don't tell me. When we get there, we'll find out naturally..."
Lin Qiye gave Amemiya Haruki a look.
"He's just a burden to carry. Kill him." Lin Qiye said flatly.
Amemiya Haruki understood Lin Qiye's meaning. He walked slowly to Wei Dong, placed his hand on the blade hilt, and began to slowly unsheathe the 【Rainfall Collapse】...
