Chapter 636: The Group Leader's Preferences
"Asaba, how old are you this year? How do you look so handsome~"
"Asaba, let's have another drink together!"
"*Burp*, Asaba, I heard you're especially good at solving psychological problems. I've been having some troubles in that area lately..."
"Come on! Drink! Open two more bottles of champagne for our Asaba!!"
"..."
On the second floor of the Black Wutong Club, under the blue-purple hues of the lighting, alcohol permeated the air everywhere. Lin Qiye, Amemiya Haruki, and Little Jin were surrounded by customers, while a large number of others waited outside with numbered tickets, hoping desperately for a turn.
Originally, host clubs didn't operate on a numbered queue system. The customers knew they might not get to be served by Asaba or Amemiya tonight, but even if they could only wait outside the private rooms and catch another glimpse of them, it would all be worth it.
They could just come earlier tomorrow and spend more money—that was their willingness.
Inside the private room, Lin Qiye held his wine glass and calmly scanned the customers around him, all passed out from drinking with satisfied smiles on their faces. He stood up and pushed open the door.
"Next batch." he said coolly.
His tone wasn't that of a host who had just finished drinking several bottles with customers, but rather that of a surgeon who had just completed an operation, preparing for the next round of "psychological counseling."
Lin Qiye didn't have time to wake up each customer individually—his schedule was very busy. He simply walked into the adjacent private room, and a burst of female cheers immediately erupted from within...
Around four in the morning, the Black Wutong Club officially closed for the night.
Dr. Asaba, after a busy evening, changed into clothes that were easier to move in, and left the establishment under the pretense of going out for a drink with Amemiya Haruki. He quickly split up and began reconnaissance on the Kankawa family's positions.
The pre-dawn darkness was cold and damp. At this hour, there wasn't a single pedestrian on the streets, only a thin mist hanging over the city, veiling the neon signs on both sides of the street like a delicate纱.
Dressed in a black windbreaker, Lin Qiye avoided the surveillance cameras on the roads and moved swiftly between buildings, sweeping the surroundings with his spiritual power.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, Lin Qiye stopped on top of a small building.
He turned to look at a nearby neon-lit street. On the large screen at the intersection, several wanted posters were scrolling silently through the mist.
"Villain: Amemiya Haruki, [Fierce Ghost] Level Wanted Criminal, Bounty: 10,000,000 yen, Informant Reward: 1,000,000 yen..."
"Villain: Taira Hi...
"Villain: Kankawa Tsukasa, [Fierce Ghost] Level Wanted Criminal, Bounty: 10,000,000 yen, Informant Reward: 1,000,000 yen..."
"Villain:凶Ape, [Hunting Sparrow] Level Wanted Criminal, Bounty: 6,000,000 yen, Informant Reward: 100,000 yen..."
When the screen scrolled to the final wanted poster, a figure wearing a ferocious Sun Wukong mask appeared in Lin Qiye's view. The background showed him on the blazing Morizumi Bridge, carrying two black cases, tilting his head back as he fell toward the Yazogawa.
He was on the wanted list too?
Lin Qiye paused for a moment, contemplating seriously.
From this wanted poster, as he had predicted, [Pure Land] would not be sharing information with Japanese police. After all, in Yokohama, the White-Robed Oracle Envoy had recorded his true appearance, yet this so-called "凶Ape" was merely a figure wearing a mask...
The Japanese police didn't know he was an intruder. To them, he was just a terrorist who had blown up a dozen cars on a bridge.
If [Pure Land] wanted to find him, wouldn't it be more likely to simply hand over his appearance to the Japanese authorities? Why didn't they do that?
Was it because they thought the Japanese police couldn't find him anyway, so there was no point telling them? Or... did [Pure Land] not want to expose the existence of intruders to the mortal world?
While thinking, Lin Qiye used his spiritual power to search the surroundings before his form vanished into the mist.
...
Osaka.
Heishatsugumi headquarters.
Asakura Ken sat gloomily at a low table, gazing absentmindedly at a cup of tea in his hands. The tea had long gone cold, but he was completely unaware, lost in thought.
"Leader." A young yakuza member approached respectfully.
"How's the reconnaissance on the Kankawa family's deployment going?" Asakura Ken glanced at him and asked.
"We've mobilized all our manpower, searching day and night for two days. We've basically got it figured out. By tonight at the latest, we'll have the complete deployment plan."
Asakura Ken nodded slightly.
This progress was a bit faster than he had expected, but under the pressure from the Big Group Leader, every member of the Heishatsugumi in Osaka had performed beyond their usual capabilities. This kind of efficiency had never been seen before.
As expected of the Big Group Leader...
Thinking of Shen Qingzhu's gaze, Asakura Ken felt a headache coming on.
"Leader, what's wrong? You don't seem happy." The young man asked, puzzled.
Asakura Ken sighed deeply. "These past two days, I've continuously presented the Big Group Leader with six or seven batches of women. Tall, short, fat, thin, young, mature—I've shown him all types. But every time, he just curses 'damn it' and leaves them all standing there...
I really cannot figure out what this Big Group Leader is like."
"Leader, perhaps the Big Group Leader simply doesn't want women? Someone like the Big Group Leader might be constantly worrying about the future of our Yamamoto-gumi. Why must you keep trying to set him up with women?"
"What do you know?" Asakura Ken glared at him. "We're in Osaka, our home territory. The Big Group Leader came here personally to help us solve our problems. If we fail to provide proper hospitality, what face do we have left to stand in the Heishatsugumi? All the other executives will be talking behind our backs!"
"I see." The young man suddenly understood.
"This Big Group Leader's preferences are really hard to guess..." Asakura Ken sighed. "Tell me, what kind of woman does he actually like?"
The young man thought carefully for a long time, as if having an idea, leaned close to Asakura Ken's ear, and whispered:
"Leader, do you think there's a possibility...
That the Big Group Leader, perhaps, doesn't like women?"
Asakura Ken froze, taking a long moment to react. A look of surprise appeared in his eyes.
"You mean the Big Group Leader might prefer... cough cough." Asakura Ken coughed awkwardly, his brow furrowing as he thought seriously. "It seems, that might be the only possibility.
If that's the case, it's not strange that our previous attempts to set him up with women would arouse his displeasure.
In other words, if we want to properly entertain the Big Group Leader, we need to take him to find men...
But, where would we even find that?"
