# 465
**Chapter 465 – Bragi’s Deterioration**
After a full day of training, Lin Qiye lay on his bed, slowly closed his eyes, and let his consciousness sink into the Asylum of the Gods in his mind.
Ever since leaving the Purification Chamber, he had either been on missions or on the way to them. There hadn’t been much time to rest, let alone visit the asylum. Fortunately, Li Yifei, the head orderly, gave him regular updates, and nothing particularly unusual had happened.
Lin Qiye put on a white coat and black-rimmed glasses, looking every bit the part of a real doctor as he stepped into the asylum.
“Good morning, Director.”
A Zhu, hugging a bundle of laundry on his way to the washroom, greeted him politely when he saw Lin Qiye approaching.
“Mm.” Lin Qiye nodded and continued down the long corridor toward the open courtyard.
In the center of the yard, Nyx sat on a rocking chair, basking in the sun. A ball of black yarn rested on her lap, and her fingers moved deftly as she knitted something.
From the general shape, it looked like a sweater.
Lin Qiye’s eyes filled with confusion at the sight. If he remembered correctly, Nyx had been knitting that same sweater a year ago. How was it still not finished?
Nyx noticed him and smiled warmly. “You’ve come to see me, Thanatos?”
“Yes, Mother.” Lin Qiye walked over and smiled. “How have you been lately?”
As he spoke, he glanced at the treatment progress bar above her head. It had been over two years since Nyx entered the asylum, and her progress had reached 89%—the best result among the three patients.
In terms of behavior, Nyx was now almost indistinguishable from a normal person. Lin Qiye hadn’t seen her zoning out, muttering to herself, or mistaking random objects for her children in a long time.
Most of her days were spent sunbathing and knitting. When she was in the mood, she’d join others in the activity room for some fun, her face often lit up with smiles.
The once-deranged Nyx was now a thing of the past.
“Quite well,” Nyx said cheerfully. “Our new neighbor, Mr. Bragi, is very interesting. His singing isn’t great, but he’s full of energy—reminds me of when I was young… Mr. Merlin is as quiet as ever, always reading his books. Sometimes he chats with me about health tips, though lately he’s been worrying about his hairline…
And the children who take care of me are so sweet. They always cheer me up.”
With that, Nyx pulled out a frisbee from nowhere and tossed it into the air. It wobbled through the sky and landed near the edge of the yard.
A moment later, a yellow pug darted out, leapt into the air, and caught the frisbee cleanly in its mouth. It trotted back to Nyx and placed the disc at her feet.
On its tongue lay a tiny golden bug.
Lin Qiye stared in disbelief at the pug—now fully adapted to its new life. He could hardly reconcile this obedient creature with the Sea-level mysterious entity that had once wreaked havoc in Gusu City. The pug glanced at him, rolled its eyes, and trotted off toward the corridor.
It stopped in front of A Zhu and nuzzled his leg.
A Zhu bent down and patted its head. “Good boy, Lord Baylor! As a reward, you get to clean the toilets today with the tools.”
The pug visibly relaxed.
To Lin Qiye’s stunned silence, the dog stood up on its hind legs like a human. It grabbed a broom with its left paw, a dustpan with its right, and clenched a rag in its mouth, then waddled off toward the bathroom.
Lin Qiye: …
“Oh, Thanatos,” Nyx said, as if remembering something. “You should go check on Mr. Bragi. He hasn’t been doing well lately.”
Lin Qiye froze.
Bragi wasn’t doing well?
Had his condition worsened?
He nodded, said goodbye to Nyx, and quickly headed into the building.
After searching the entire building, Lin Qiye finally found Bragi on the rooftop.
He sat alone on the edge, his beloved lyre set beside him, staring blankly at the sky, lost in thought.
Lin Qiye glanced at the progress bar above Bragi’s head—and his expression turned grave.
He had instructed Li Yifei to follow Doctor Li’s notes for Bragi’s medication. The last time he checked, Bragi’s treatment progress had reached 32%.
But now, it had dropped to 16%.
His progress had regressed.
Why? Was the medication wrong?
That didn’t make sense. If the medicine had been incorrect, the progress would’ve decreased from the start. Why would it improve to 32% and then suddenly worsen?
After a moment of thought, Lin Qiye walked over. “Bragi.”
“Hmm? Oh… Director?” Bragi blinked, as if snapping out of a daze. He looked at Lin Qiye, his expression distant.
“You don’t look well. Is something troubling you?” Lin Qiye asked gently.
“No, nothing…” Bragi instinctively shook his head. Then, after a pause, he looked up and said seriously, “Director, I have a request.”
“Go ahead.”
“I want to leave the asylum for a while.”
Lin Qiye was stunned. “Leave? Are you unhappy here?”
“No, I love it here. Everyone’s kind. But…” Bragi fell silent, the light in his eyes dimming. “I miss her.”
Lin Qiye quickly understood. “Your wife?”
“Yes.” Bragi nodded. “Unlike the scheming and betrayal of Asgard, life here is peaceful. I could stay forever… but Iden—my wife—she’s still out there. I don’t know where she is, what she’s doing, or if she’s safe. Every night, I dream of her.
In my dreams, she’s suffering. Sometimes she’s imprisoned by Loki and other evil gods, never seeing the sun. Sometimes she’s forced onto a battlefield, fighting brutal gods. Once, I even dreamed she died in some distant place I’ll never know…”
Bragi’s face grew paler, his hands trembling.
“Iden is my wife. She’s the woman I love most. With her gone, I can’t enjoy any peace here.
I have to find her…”
