# 438
**Chapter 438: Baili vs. Baili**
“Do whatever you want. Kill whoever you want.”
Lin Qiye tightened his grip on his twin blades, his gaze sweeping across the numerous Forbidden Artifact Envoys before him. “Anyone who stands in your way—I’ll take care of them for you.”
With a flick of his wrist, summoning light flashed, and a silver Rubik’s Cube hovered silently in his palm.
As the Chaos Cube twisted, the entire 166th floor was completely rearranged.
The eight Sea-level Forbidden Artifact Envoys had already been disarmed by Baili Pangpang. Now, they were virtually defenseless and being massacred one-sidedly by the Ninth Seat.
Adding to that, the Ninth Seat had just finished off Aries and Virgo, who he’d caught off guard. Now, of the twelve envoys, only Leo in the sky and the Infinity-level Sagittarius remained combat-ready.
Seeing Baili Xin and his son in danger, Sagittarius immediately charged toward the platform. But just then, the space around him twisted, and in the next moment, he was forcibly relocated—right in front of the Ninth Seat, who was still slaughtering the others.
“Huh?” The Ninth Seat blinked at the suddenly appearing Sagittarius. “You here to die too?”
Sagittarius’s face darkened.
…
*Whoosh—!*
A figure shot down through a hole in the floor. Leo, kinetic longsword in hand, landed before the platform, his expression grim as he stared at Baili Pangpang and Lin Qiye.
Lin Qiye glanced around.
“This should be the last one. A bit tricky… Can you handle both father and son at once?” He looked back at Baili Pangpang with concern.
“Mm.” Baili Pangpang nodded. “My Forbidden Ruins are the natural enemy of the Baili family. Don’t worry.”
“Alright.”
Lin Qiye twisted the Chaos Cube again. In the next instant, both he and Leo vanished, relocated elsewhere.
Now, nothing stood between Baili Pangpang and Baili Jing below the platform.
He stepped forward, slowly descending toward Baili Jing.
As the blood-red figure in the grinning Zhu Bajie mask approached, Baili Jing’s face turned pale. The memory of Baili Pangpang instantly stripping him of all his forbidden artifacts had shaken him deeply. Now, seeing eight artifacts floating around the man, Baili Jing stumbled backward in terror.
He was scared.
At his core, he was just a businessman. He could dominate the market, but in terms of combat? He wasn’t even worthy of carrying Baili Pangpang’s shoes.
Though he’d trained with forbidden artifacts since childhood, it had only been basic practice. He’d never experienced real life-or-death combat. According to the plan, he was never supposed to fight—Baili Pangpang would handle the hardest part, and he’d simply inherit the identity.
If Baili Pangpang’s mental power hadn’t been sealed, he never would’ve dared make a move. And now? He didn’t dare even more.
“Why are you backing away?” Beneath the grinning Zhu Bajie mask, Baili Pangpang spoke calmly. “Didn’t you want to kill me again? I’m right here… Do you dare?”
Baili Jing swallowed hard, already at the edge of the platform. He looked up at Baili Xin and said shakily, “Father… this…”
Baili Xin frowned, snorting coldly. “Is this all the courage you have? How do you expect to become a high-ranking member of the Night Watch like this? You disappoint me.”
“N-no, Father!” Baili Jing stammered. “He—he can take away my forbidden artifacts! I can’t use any of them! This isn’t fair!”
Baili Xin narrowed his eyes at Baili Pangpang for a long moment, then tossed a golden spear to Baili Jing. After a brief hesitation, he pulled out a worn wooden sword sheath from thin air and slung it across Baili Jing’s back.
“You should recognize these two items. My mental power is embedded in them—he can’t take them.” Baili Xin spoke calmly. “Though he has many forbidden artifacts, aside from the [Cyan Jade Armor], the rest are low in sequence. They can’t compare to these two.
You are my son, raised by me. If you still can’t defeat that waste, then you don’t deserve to be the head of the Baili family, let alone a Night Watch executive.
If you can’t become a Night Watch executive… then you have no reason to exist.”
At those final words, Baili Jing trembled, fear flashing in his eyes.
“I’ll win! Father, I’ll win!” He gripped the golden spear tightly. “I’ll prove to you—I’m stronger than that waste! I’m more worthy of being your son!”
With a fierce grit of his teeth, he charged at Baili Pangpang.
Baili Pangpang stared coldly at Baili Xin. “So, you’re this heartless even to your own son… Is there truly nothing in your eyes but profit?”
“This is a world where profit reigns supreme. Only the truly ruthless can stand above all,” Baili Xin replied.
Baili Jing tore off his gold-rimmed glasses and flung them aside. The spear in his hand shot forward like lightning!
**BOOM—!!**
A massive golden beam erupted from the spear tip, piercing straight through the 166th floor and blasting into the sky. The shockwave rippled outward, melting the surrounding walls.
Baili Pangpang reappeared atop the yin fish of a Taiji diagram.
A flash of light sparked in his eyes. The cyan jade ring on his thumb rapidly deconstructed, transforming into a full set of cyan jade armor that gently settled over his body. A tattered cloak hung behind him. In one hand, he held a treasure vase; in the other, a wooden ruler over a meter long.
The blood-red eye floating behind him vanished—then slowly opened on the Zhu Bajie mask itself.
A murky beam of mental energy shot from the eye, racing toward Baili Jing!
**Buzz!!**
The wooden sword sheath on Baili Jing’s back suddenly trembled. Before the beam could touch him, it was forcibly dispersed mid-air!
Baili Jing’s eyes locked onto Baili Pangpang. Every time the latter appeared, he thrust his spear instantly. Golden beams continued to shoot from the top floor, the entire level beginning to shake.
**Creak—!!**
The steel beams supporting the ceiling groaned. Debris rained from above. The few remaining load-bearing columns could no longer support the floor’s weight—cracks spiderwebbed across the surface.
Baili Xin frowned slightly and stepped forward. Grains of black sand spilled from his feet, flowing like a tide into the columns. The teetering top floor finally stabilized.
