Chapter 436 – Kinetic Longsword

“What kind of monster is he?” Wei Xiuming muttered to himself as he watched Lin Qiye locked in combat with the three Relic Envoys.

Bang—!

Jialan’s flying kick sent the dazed Wei Xiuming flying more than ten meters, slamming him hard into the wall.

“Spacing out… hmph.” Jialan placed her hands on her hips and snorted at Wei Xiuming, now embedded in the wall.

Outside the main building, the roar of explosions rang out.

Jialan’s attention was drawn to that battlefield. She turned to see long-haired Lin Qiye wielding twin blades, dancing like a phantom under the night sky, and her eyes glazed over slightly.

He looks… pretty good with long hair?

She thought to herself.

Smack!

While Jialan was distracted, Wei Xiuming slashed her back with his blade, only to feel as if he’d struck solid stone—no mark left at all.

Wei Xiuming: …

Jialan looked back, her gaze less than friendly.

Outside the main building.

Four figures clashed and separated again and again; under the night sky the stars flickered, on the verge of falling.

The virgin, draped in a white gauze, raised her hand. The gauze on her arms shot out like twin roaming dragons, stretching toward Lin Qiye with Infinity. He flickered continuously through the night, evading every strand.

Lin Qiye opened his left hand and pressed toward the virgin from afar, intoning:

“【Night Lord’s Judgment】.”

The darkness above him twisted violently; a dozen huge black pillars fell from the night, piercing most of the white gauze and nailing it to the steel frame of the building.

Lin Qiye flashed in front of her; his Straight Blade sliced the darkness, aimed straight at her throat!

Clang—!!

The man called Lion, a Klein, also teleported in front of her, drawing an ancient longsword to catch Lin Qiye’s strike. Blade met sword in a shower of sparks, the metallic shriek stabbing ears.

Just as Lin Qiye prepared another slash, terrifying kinetic energy burst from the longsword—as if a high-speed train had smashed head-on into his blade.

The Straight Blade in his right hand was flung away!

Lin Qiye’s body was hurled backward, but after several rapid flickers he stabilized in mid-air.

He frowned, gripping the air; the lost Straight Blade re-summoned into his hand. Staring at the ancient sword Lion held, he murmured, “A sword that manipulates kinetic energy?”

Lion swept the blade across the ground littered with glass shards; countless fragments shot out like rail-gun rounds. Ear-splitting booms tore through the sky, the shards blinking toward Lin Qiye’s eyes.

Darkness spread across Lin Qiye’s pupils; he pressed lightly at the air.

All the glass shards were swallowed by Utter Darkness, freezing in front of him before dropping powerlessly into the clouds below.

Now he finally had the measure of the three Relics: white gauze that could extend to Infinity without tearing, ram horns that ignored space and armor to deal direct damage, and a longsword that controlled kinetic energy…

With their abilities clear, the rest was simple.

Pfft!

A soft sound came from inside the floor. Standing by the window, Aries slapped the ram horn in his hand; a red beam pierced space and struck Lin Qiye—only hitting an after-image.

As Aries frowned and locked onto Lin Qiye again, preparing another slap, a ghostly figure appeared behind him. His pupils shrank; a blood-wet hand punched through his back and out his chest!

That crimson hand crushed the heart, then slowly withdrew.

Ninth Seat expressionlessly flicked the blood from his fingers, turned to the virgin nailed to the wall by Lin Qiye, and gave a cold smile.

“Hm?” High above, Lin Qiye—gathering the surrounding darkness—saw Aries drop dead and puzzlement flashed in his eyes. He glanced at the unfamiliar figure and frowned.

Who is he?

Why is he helping me?

Before the question could settle, a golden flash burst from the replica 【Jade Light】 on Lion’s wrist, becoming a small flying sword that carried him straight toward Lin Qiye in the sky.

Lin Qiye set the thought aside and focused on his foe. Unlike his own peak “Boundless” stage, Lion with the ancient sword was a genuine Klein. Even though he currently carried the soul of the Night Goddess, the gap between near-Klein and true Klein wasn’t bridged so easily.

Knowing the sword could control kinetic energy, Lin Qiye chose not to cross blades. From what he’d seen, the weapon only affected objects it directly touched—whether flinging his Straight Blade or launching glass shards.

He pressed his palm toward the onrushing figure; starry illusions lit up behind him.

“【Falling Thousand Stars】.”

Meteors peeled from the night sky, burning bright as they grazed the atmosphere, trailing long fiery tails—an entire meteor shower plummeting toward earth!

Lion’s eyes narrowed, but his speed never dropped; he charged into the dazzling rain.

He struck the first meteor illusion; the instant his sword touched its surface, the meteor lost all downward energy, freezing mid-air. Its flames snuffed out, the illusion fading.

He flew on to the next.

Meteor after meteor—whatever the longsword cut simply hung suspended, robbed of all kinetic force.

Lin Qiye’s brows knit tighter.

So the sword didn’t merely control physical objects—it could even affect stellar illusions… That left far fewer ways to restrain him.

While the 166th floor descended into chaos, no one noticed the elevator indicator frozen on one floor suddenly begin to climb.

100… 110… 120… 160… 166!

Ding—!

The crisp chime echoed through the clamorous hall. The Relic Envoys battling giant pythons all froze.

Who could be coming up by elevator now?

The lift entrance should have been sealed…

On the high platform, Baili Xin, overseeing the battle, frowned and turned toward the sound.

The elevator doors slid open; the interior light flickered dimly, revealing a blood-soaked figure standing inside.

Under the pale light, a grinning Zhu Bajie mask slowly lifted…
