# 419
**Chapter 419: I Want to Go Home**
“Splash…”
On the 88th floor of a luxury hotel, An Qingyu stood quietly in front of the coffee machine, head lowered in thought.
The rich aroma of coffee spread through the living room. An Qingyu snapped out of it, picked up the cup, and walked toward the panoramic floor-to-ceiling window.
Beneath the black sky, the neon-lit modern city exuded an air of extravagance. Even in the dead of night, the city refused to quiet down. Occasionally, a supercar streaked across the empty road, its engine howling through the silent night before vanishing into the distance.
The clean, bright window clearly reflected the silhouettes of two young men.
“What do you think?” Lin Qiye, standing by the window, suddenly asked.
An Qingyu stirred his coffee; steam fogged his lenses. “Something’s off.”
“I think so too.” Lin Qiye nodded slightly. “Pangpang can be unreliable sometimes, but when it comes to us, he’s always attentive. No matter how busy he is, he’d never forget to receive us…”
An Qingyu pondered. “And that Young Master Jing gives me a strange feeling.”
“Exactly.” Lin Qiye narrowed his eyes. “From the start, that Steward Chang keeps hinting—intentionally or not—that everything we enjoy is courtesy of Baili Jing, never mentioning Pangpang. It’s like they’re deliberately erasing his existence.”
An Qingyu sipped his coffee, thinking. “Family in-fighting?”
“Possible.”
“The Baili empire is enormous. The position of chairman and family head is enough to drive most people crazy. If this Baili Jing is as capable as Steward Chang claims, it wouldn’t be surprising if he resents Baili Pangpang and tries to trip him up in secret,” An Qingyu analyzed.
Lin Qiye didn’t answer. He just gazed at the nightscape outside. After a long while, he sighed.
“What’s wrong?”
“If it’s only family infighting, it’s not a big problem…” Lin Qiye said slowly. “As long as Old Master Baili firmly supports Baili Pangpang, they won’t be able to make waves.”
An Qingyu nodded. “True. Anyone who can hold up the entire Baili Group can’t be a fool. He must’ve anticipated that some would resent Pangpang and scheme against him. Once he steps in, no one can shake Pangpang’s position.”
Seeing Lin Qiye still look troubled, An Qingyu asked, “Since Pangpang’s position is secure, what are you worried about?”
Lin Qiye shook his head and walked back into the living room.
“Hope I’m just overthinking it…”
……
Gusu City, a standalone luxury villa.
A middle-aged man sat on a wide sofa, gently swirling a goblet. He watched the expensive red wine swirl into dark-red ripples, then tilted his head and downed it in one gulp.
Tap, tap, tap…
“Morning, Captain.” A voluptuous woman came down the stairs smiling.
Wei Xiuming turned to her and raised his glass. “Morning, Miao Su. Care to join me?”
Miao Su shook her head. “Captain, drinking so early is bad for your stomach.”
Wei Xiuming reluctantly set the glass on the table, stood, and stretched.
“Can’t help it. The Baili family sends so much wine. If I don’t finish this bottle, the new ones won’t fit in the cabinet.” He walked to the TV wall, slid open a wooden door, and revealed an entire wall of expensive red wine stacked like a small mountain.
“If it won’t fit, just don’t take it,” Miao Su said. “Captain, we’re Night Watch. We shouldn’t get too entangled with them.”
“I know, but…” Wei Xiuming gazed at the wall of wine with heartache. “You know I can’t resist. If I refuse, they’ll pour it straight down the toilet—such a waste!”
Miao Su sighed helplessly and headed to the kitchen to make breakfast.
“Where’re Lao Han and the others?” she asked suddenly.
“Went to handle that newly emerged mystery last night. Haven’t come back.” Wei Xiuming muttered, “Probably spent the night at some club again.”
“…” Miao Su rolled her eyes and crushed a raw egg in her hand. “Captain! You need to talk to them! They’re shameless day after day—this isn’t how Night Watch should behave!”
“I know, I know. When they get back, I’ll give them a proper lecture!” Wei Xiuming said solemnly.
Ding-dong—
While they talked, the doorbell rang.
Wei Xiuming was about to ask Miao Su to open it, but seeing her busy in the kitchen, sighed and opened the door himself.
The moment he saw who stood outside, he froze.
“Baili Tuming?!” Wei Xiuming stared at the filthy, battered little fatty. “What happened to you?”
Baili Pangpang gave a miserable smile. “Ran into some trouble… Captain, can I come in?”
“Come in, quick!”
Wei Xiuming led him inside. Miao Su, seeing his state, gasped, untied her apron, and hurried over.
“Little Tuming, who did this to you? Tell Sis and I’ll beat them up right now!” Fury flashed in her eyes.
“It’s okay… no need, Sister Miao.”
“Miao Su, grab clean clothes from my room and the medical kit!” Wei Xiuming’s face darkened when he saw the wounds.
“On it!”
A short while later, Baili Pangpang sat on the sofa in fresh clothes while Miao Su cleaned his injuries with alcohol and bandages. Wei Xiuman sat opposite, graver than ever.
“Talk. What happened?”
Baili Pangpang gave a bitter smile and recounted everything. Wei Xiuming’s frown deepened.
“You’re saying someone in the Baili family wants you dead?” he asked in disbelief. “Who’s that reckless? You’re the designated heir of Baili Group!”
Baili Pangpang lowered his head, silent.
“I have my own thoughts on this…” He looked up into Wei Xiuming’s eyes and said earnestly, “I’m here with only one request…
I want to go home!”
