# 340
**Chapter 340: Wall of Fog**
Buzz——!!
“Dear passengers, our next stop is Tianhe City…”
With a low hum, the green-skinned train slowly pulled into the station. Lin Qiye and the others stepped off the train and glanced at the time.
“Stick to the plan. Split up. Pangpang and An Qingyu will go buy survival supplies. Cao Yuan and I will look for a ride to Anta County.”
The other three nodded.
Lin Qiye looked into Baili Pangpang’s eyes and said seriously, “Once we reach Anta County, there won’t be any malls left for us to buy supplies. Everything we need has to be bought here. Don’t forget anything.”
Baili Pangpang patted his chest. “Relax, I’ve got it covered.”
Lin Qiye ignored his assurance and turned to An Qingyu beside him. The latter gave a slight nod, and Lin Qiye felt reassured.
Having An Qingyu go with Baili Pangpang was precisely to prevent Pangpang from forgetting things. With An Qingyu watching, nothing would go wrong.
After agreeing on a rendezvous time, the four quickly split up.
Tianhe City was already a border town of Great Xia. Its infrastructure was relatively underdeveloped, and the streets were deserted—hardly a soul in sight. Anta County, located at the northernmost edge of Tianhe City, was even more remote. No trains, not even a bus terminal.
The only way to reach Anta County was by car or hitchhiking.
Lin Qiye and Cao Yuan searched around the station for a long time before finally finding a driver heading to Anta County. After paying a deposit, they returned to the agreed meeting spot to wait.
About an hour later, Baili Pangpang and An Qingyu returned.
“Did you get everything?” Lin Qiye asked An Qingyu directly.
An Qingyu’s expression was odd. He hesitated for a moment, then said uncertainly, “We got everything, it’s just…”
“Good, as long as we have everything.” Lin Qiye nodded.
Baili Pangpang pulled four thermal coats and hiking backpacks from his pocket. Lin Qiye divided food, water, and survival essentials among the bags and handed them out.
In truth, with Baili Pangpang’s [Unbounded Space], they didn’t need backpacks at all. Lin Qiye did this for two reasons: first, to disguise themselves as adventurers and hide the Straight Blades in the bags to avoid suspicion from the local Night Watch team. Second, to ensure that if anyone got separated, they wouldn’t lose their supplies.
It was worth noting that the other three’s enlistment applications had just been mailed to Ye Fan. So An Qingyu hadn’t received his Straight Blade, badge, or cloak yet. For the current reserve team, wearing cloaks on a mission would be like announcing their presence to the local Night Watch. Proving their identity afterward would be a hassle.
Zipping the thermal coats to the top, donning fuzzy cold-weather Lei Feng hats, slipping hands into thick gloves, and hoisting heavy dark hiking packs, Lin Qiye looked at himself in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction.
Definitely had the vibe of northern explorers.
…
After nearly five hours of bumpy travel, the four finally arrived at Anta County.
Five hours on the road could take you through four or five cities in southern Great Xia. But here, near the border and on the edge of a primordial forest, cities were far apart. Five hours was normal.
Lin Qiye stepped out of the car and froze at the sight ahead.
Beyond the endless blue sky, past the rolling mountains, a wall of fog stretched to the horizon, merging with heaven and earth like an endless white barrier…
The fog clung to Great Xia’s borders, churning violently like seawater trapped in a glass tank, unable to advance even an inch.
It was the end of the earth, the edge of the sky.
“That… is the fog,” An Qingyu murmured, also stunned.
They had never seen such a sight.
Had they not come to this border city, they might never have imagined what the so-called fog border looked like.
“Hard to believe this fog wall stretches for over 50,000 kilometers…” Cao Yuan said in awe.
Lin Qiye slowly looked away. “Let’s go. First, we’ll check the local Night Watch outpost.”
“Night Watch outpost?” Baili Pangpang blinked. “Aren’t we supposed to avoid contact?”
“We’re adventurers now. Approaching them won’t expose us,” Lin Qiye shook his head. “Besides, the forest is too vast. Without a specific clue about where that mysterious creature appeared, charging in blindly would be like searching for a needle in the ocean.”
“So we’re going to pose as travelers and fish for info from the local Night Watch?” Cao Yuan frowned. “Won’t that be too hard?”
Lin Qiye gazed into the distance and said slowly, “Maybe we can use a more direct method…”
…
Half an hour later.
“Qiye…” Baili Pangpang’s mouth twitched. “Are you sure this is the Night Watch outpost?”
The four stood in front of a short, dilapidated two-story building, speechless.
This was the very edge of Anta County. All around were barren trees and old dirt paths. Within a three-kilometer radius, this was the only building standing alone.
It looked ancient. Most of the red paint on the outer walls had peeled off. The ground in front was uneven. On the right side of the stairs hung a yellowed white metal sign with a few words:
—Anta County Forest Ranger Station.
Lin Qiye nodded. “Commander Ye’s info pointed to this place. Should be correct.”
Special reserve teams had clearance to access Night Watch deployment info in any city. Before departure, Lin Qiye had requested the Tianhe City Night Watch data from Ye Fan. Surprisingly, Anta County and Tianhe City had separate teams.
The reason was the huge distance between the two, and Anta County’s proximity to the primordial forest, so a separate outpost was set up.
According to Lin Qiye’s info, the Anta County Night Watch team had only two members, including the captain. Both were only in the “Pond” realm… likely the smallest team in all of Great Xia’s Night Watch.
“Let’s go in and take a look,” Lin Qiye said.
