Chapter 318 – One Against Four
For some reason, Han Jinlong’s heart trembled when he met Lin Qiye’s gaze, and a sudden sense of foreboding flashed through him.
But things had already gone too far to turn back, and Han Jinlong still believed that, under the suppressing effect of the Stele of God’s Ruins, Lin Qiye couldn’t possibly be stronger than the “River” realm.
Any higher would mean Lin Qiye had originally been “Infinite” or even “Klein,” which, given his age, was simply impossible.
All four of their side were also pure “River” realms. Four against one in the same realm—he couldn’t imagine how they could lose!
Among the four, the gaunt man struck first!
He casually scooped up a handful of pebbles at his feet and flicked them at Lin Qiye with his fingertips. At the same time, a white light flared over the stones’ surfaces, their volume ballooning mid-air. By the time they reached Lin Qiye, each pebble had become a boulder four or five meters in radius!
Several such boulders, carrying terrifying kinetic energy, slammed toward Lin Qiye like artillery shells!
Lin Qiye simply stood there, showing no intention of dodging. As the boulders were about to touch him, he stretched out a hand and snapped his fingers.
Snap—!!
Blinding golden light flashed across every boulder. Then, following their original trajectories, they converged on a single point, collided—and ricocheted apart…
After the ricochet, a tiny gap happened to appear.
And that gap just happened to open right in front of Lin Qiye!
Several boulders four or five meters wide brushed past one another and somehow missed Lin Qiye’s body completely, not even touching a single hair.
The scene was so bizarre that even the gaunt man who’d thrown the stones froze. An event of such minuscule probability—he’d never encountered it in his life—had just unfolded before his eyes…
Theoretically, those boulders could collide; after colliding, a gap could appear; and that gap could miss Lin Qiye’s body.
Possible—but the odds were astronomically small!
It met the trigger condition for a “Miracle.”
And Lin Qiye’s current mental power was enough to create this small miracle—hence the unbelievable scene.
Seeing the gaunt man fail, Han Jinlong cursed “trash” under his breath, stamped on the ground, and, propelled by terrifying force, shot to Lin Qiye in an instant!
He clenched his left fist and punched!
The fist tore through the air with such kinetic force it let out an ear-piercing sonic boom!
It proved that even a simple strength-enhancement-type Forbidden Ruin could unleash devastating lethality at high realms!
His punch was fast, but in the darkness Lin Qiye was faster!
Lin Qiye’s figure blurred, leaving a streak of afterimages as he slipped past Han Jinlong’s fist. Radiant magical light erupted from his body!
The next moment, Lin Qiye’s body rapidly expanded, turning into a towering green giant!
Transformation magic!
The Hulk-like giant clasped both hands into a single massive hammer and brought it down on Han Jinlong’s spine from above!
Simultaneously, a soft chant came from the green giant’s mouth:
“Across five ranges the silver hoes descend; three rivers shake beneath iron arms!”
Boom—!!!
The earth quaked; a dull thunderclap exploded. Han Jinlong was smashed into the ground like a chick, the surface shattering beneath him and forming a huge circular pit!
Rolling shockwaves sent gravel spraying at the other three, who stood dumbstruck.
What… just happened?
Han Jinlong’s spine was completely caved in. That single hammer blow had shattered it. Had his Forbidden Ruin not greatly strengthened his physique, he’d already be dead.
As it was, he wasn’t far from it.
Amid rising dust, the huge green figure shrank back into the young man. Lin Qiye stepped on the half-dead Han Jinlong’s cheek, cold killing intent flickering in his indifferent eyes.
“Don’t let that waste die!” Old Zhang shouted. Barriers condensed in front of him, forming two giant hands—one grabbing at Lin Qiye, the other at Han Jinlong.
The other two reacted just as quickly; once Han Jinlong died, their plan to escape through the sewers would be ruined.
Old Zhang and the bearded man exchanged glances. The former tapped the latter; white light flashed, and the bearded man’s body ballooned until he stood nearly five meters tall.
Then, shrouded in eerie green light, the giant disintegrated into millions of metallic mosquitoes that surged toward Lin Qiye like a tidal wave!
Calling them mosquitoes was generous—each was leech-sized, forged of metal, eyes glowing red, proboscises like thick steel needles that could drain an ordinary person dry in one bite.
Lin Qiye shredded Old Zhang’s barrier arms with the power of night. Seeing the swarm, his expression turned grave.
He’d never encountered a Forbidden Ruin that decomposed the user into other creatures. Just from their appearance he could tell how terrifying their destructive power was; one bite wouldn’t kill but would certainly cripple.
He guessed the ability wasn’t originally so troublesome. The gaunt man had first enlarged the bearded man’s body, and only then did he split into mosquitoes—effectively enlarging every single one. That explained the horror bearing down on him.
As the metallic mosquito tide bore down, an odd light flashed in Lin Qiye’s eyes. He raised a hand again, and a summoning array appeared. A small mummy hopped out.
The tiny mummy seemed overjoyed to see Lin Qiye, utterly ignoring the oncoming crisis, bouncing and waving in front of him.
It had been more than a year since the little guy last saw Lin Qiye; left alone in another dimension, it had been terribly bored.
Lin Qiye gave a wry smile, patted its head, then pointed at the approaching mosquito swarm. Mumu instantly understood; its bandages unraveled, revealing thick gun barrels…
At the same time, transformation magic flared again around Lin Qiye. His figure shrank, and in the blink of an eye he had become a second war-mummy!
Mumu stared at the identical Lin Qiye beside it, startled, then clapped excitedly, thrilled to have found a kindred spirit!
The Lin Qiye-mummy exchanged a helpless “eye-conversation” with Mumu, then extended his own array of heavy gun barrels…
The two small mummies instantly became massive war fortresses, raising their arms in unison. Blinding fire gushed from their palms!
