**Chapter 286: The Other Patient**

After Han Lao Da’s words fell, the surroundings sank into dead silence.

Lin Qiye looked at him quietly, faint golden light flickering between his lowered palms…

“Who says he’s alone?”

A deep voice came from afar. Everyone turned to see two men in prison uniforms standing nearby, speaking calmly.

Han Lao Da frowned when he saw them and said coldly, “You two want to interfere too?”

“He’s one of us—Night Watch. Han Jinlong, you’d better back off,” one of them said in a low voice.

“Heh.” Han Lao Da sneered. “You’ve got three people at most. Do you really think you stand a chance?”

“We’ll find out if we try.”

The surrounding prisoners exchanged glances, hesitation in their eyes. In the Purification Chamber, there weren’t many Night Watch members imprisoned, but they all had one thing in common—

They could fight.

A single Night Watch member could take down seven or eight regular prisoners. All of them were tough nuts to crack. That’s why Han Lao Da and his group had been reluctant to make a move.

If a fight really broke out, even if Han Lao Da’s side won, they’d suffer heavy losses. Now with Lin Qiye added to the mix, the situation became even more troublesome.

Han Lao Da seemed to be burning with rage. He stared straight at the two men, and the atmosphere instantly turned tense.

Just then, several armed guards ran over from the distance. Seeing the crowd, they fired a shot into the sky!

**Bang—!!**

At the sound of the gunshot, the prisoners scattered. Han Lao Da’s face was gloomy as he glared at Lin Qiye, then slowly stepped back.

The guards walked up to the fallen Brother Meng. Seeing the two blackened fist marks on his face, they looked up at the crowd.

“Who did this?”

“I did.” Lin Qiye stepped forward.

The guard looked at his patient uniform, surprise flashing in his eyes. Then he glanced at the motionless Brother Meng on the ground, hesitating.

Technically, any brawl in prison should result in punishment for all involved. But the one who threw the punch wasn’t a prisoner—it was a patient from the psychiatric ward next door…

A mental patient hitting someone—how do you even begin to judge that?

After a moment of thought, the guard pulled out a walkie-talkie and asked for instructions from his superiors. Then he turned to Lin Qiye and said:

“Someone from the hospital will come pick you up later. Don’t wander off. And… don’t hit people again.”

After saying that, fearing Lin Qiye might not understand, the guard mimed a punching motion, then waved his hands and made an “X” over his chest.

Lin Qiye: …

He couldn’t help but wonder—he was a mental patient, not an idiot… At that moment, Lin Qiye clearly felt his intelligence being insulted.

A few minutes later, several orderlies from the hospital came and took Lin Qiye away.

After Lin Qiye and the others left, Han Lao Da’s face grew even darker. He glanced back at Brother Meng, who was being dragged away like a dead dog by the guards, spat on the ground, and said coldly:

“Find a chance to get rid of that useless Liu Meng. Anyone who betrays me won’t end well…”

“Didn’t I tell you not to get too close to those prisoners? Why did you end up fighting?” the orderly who had brought Lin Qiye out couldnt help but ask.

“Can’t blame me—they started it.” Lin Qiye shrugged. “I was just defending myself. It wasn’t a mental breakdown.”

“Whether it’s a mental illness or not is up to Doctor Li to decide,” the orderly said.

“Why do you all trust this Doctor Li so much? Who is he?” Lin Qiye asked curiously.

“Doctor Li is the top psychiatrist in Great Xia and also the psychological consultant for Night Watch headquarters. All Night Watch members or Forbidden Ruins users diagnosed with mental issues are treated by him. He’s basically the most authoritative figure in the field.”

Lin Qiye nodded thoughtfully.

As they spoke, Lin Qiye once again passed through the transparent door and returned to the building where Sunshine Psychiatric Hospital was located. Just as he entered the hallway, two people walked toward him.

One was an orderly, the other wore a patient uniform like Lin Qiye.

It was a disheveled middle-aged man with hair like a bird’s nest, hands clasped together in front of him, slightly hunched. His shifty eyes darted around, as if scheming something.

As Lin Qiye looked at him, the man noticed Lin Qiye too. His eyes lit up, and he waved with a grin.

Lin Qiye was taken aback and politely waved back. After they passed each other, the man followed the orderly through the transparent door and walked outside.

“There are other patients here?” Lin Qiye asked the orderly beside him.

“Yes, he lives next to you, but in the other direction, so you didn’t pass by him when you came out,” the orderly nodded. “He’s been here the longest—even longer than the kid surnamed Cao who was discharged earlier. And he’s different from you.”

“Different? How?”

“He’s actually mentally ill—and seriously so.”

“So… you think I’m not mentally ill?” A glimmer of joy appeared in Lin Qiye’s eyes.

“Compared to him, you just seem more normal,” the orderly shrugged.

“Alright… What’s his background?”

“Everyone here calls him Wu ‘Old Dog.’ His real name… few remember anymore. But I heard he used to be part of the [Spirit Medium] squad.”

“The special team numbered 002?” Lin Qiye’s eyes widened in surprise. “Then how did he end up here?”

“I don’t know the details. I’m just an orderly,” he said as he led Lin Qiye to the door of his metal room and opened it for him.

“You got into a fight today, so your outdoor time is over. Same time tomorrow, I’ll take you out again.”

“Alright.”

Lin Qiye walked into the metal room, lay down on the bed, and closed his eyes. His mind automatically replayed the details he had observed during this outing.

If Brother Meng and his group hadn’t come looking for trouble, he could’ve gathered more information and worked on an escape plan. But with the interruption, today’s progress ended here.

Still, he’d have more chances to go outside. This was, after all, the most high-security prison in all of Great Xia. Escaping wouldn’t be something he could prepare for overnight.

As Lin Qiye pondered, he sensed something and quickly sank his consciousness into the psychiatric hospital in his mind.

Wearing a white lab coat, he had just entered the hospital when Li Yifei came rushing toward him.

“What’s wrong? Why are you in such a hurry? Did something happen?” Lin Qiye asked in confusion.

Li Yifei looked around to make sure no one was nearby, then leaned in and whispered:

“Qiye, I’m telling you… that Bragi—something’s off with him!”
