Chapter 258: Secured
“Another mythical beast?!” Despair flickered in Xia Simeng’s eyes. “Three mythical beasts—what on earth is happening to this world?”
Kong Shang frowned slightly. “But… don’t you find it a bit strange?”
“Strange? How?”
Kong Shang stared in the direction the black hound had come from and spoke slowly: “That hound came from the city. Maybe… there’s still a turn for the better?”
As if to confirm Kong Shang’s words, the black hell-hound trod upon the void like a bolt of black lightning, streaking past Lin Qiye and the others and diving straight for the sea-monster Kraken!
Moo—!
Roar—!!
The two titanic beasts collided in an instant!
The black hound stamped one of Kraken’s tentacles into the earth; the ground shuddered violently. Then its savage fangs snapped open and clamped onto the side of Kraken’s neck!
Moo—!!!
Kraken shrieked in pain; its remaining tentacles whipped about like mad, coiling tightly around the black hound. But the next moment dense lightning burst from the hound’s fur, charring the tentacles black!
The hound kept its grip on Kraken’s neck, tearing again and again until it ripped out a huge chunk of bloody flesh!
It chewed the chunk with brutal relish, scarlet blood dripping from its teeth onto the ground. With cold eyes it watched the shrieking Kraken, its gaze full of mockery.
Ptoo—!
It opened its jaws and spat the meat out. A deep, perfectly articulated voice rumbled from its throat:
“Garbage flesh of an outer god—not even fit for a dog!”
Lin Qiye: …?
Phoenix Squad: …??
Loki: …???
This dog… actually speaks human?
No—fluent Chinese?!!!
Even Kraken froze, its expression seeming to say: We’re both mysterious beasts—why do you get to talk? Are you trying to out-compete me?!
The black hound clearly had no intention of giving it a breather.
Its claws slashed out, severing several tentacles in an instant. Lightning roared across its body, racing over the sea-monster’s frame and paralyzing its nerves!
In that brief opening the hound struck again—this time its jaws closed on Kraken’s head!
Lightning surged; the hound’s fierce growl mingled with thunder rolled across the sky, drowning Kraken’s shrill screams and making scalps tingle.
After a violent struggle the hound tore Kraken’s head free. Blood gushed like a pillar, drenching the black hound from head to paw.
A Klein-realm beast on the verge of godhood had died just like that beneath the hound’s fangs.
Standing proudly atop the limp, pulpy corpse, the hound slowly turned toward Garm.
Though both were hell-hounds, Garm was clearly a size smaller, and in sheer presence it was utterly crushed.
Sea-monster blood still dripped from the black hound’s fur. It bared scarlet fangs, its fierce eyes locked on Garm.
It looked every inch a tyrant!
Garm was afraid.
The guardian of the underworld eyed the black hound warily and instinctively stepped back—but the black hound pressed forward, step by step.
In the distance…
“That dog… looks just like Little Black Mangy…” Lin Qiye muttered, watching.
However absurd it sounded, it was true: black fur, wrinkled face, even the scar on the forehead—identical. Only the blood-thirsty eyes and overwhelming aura were different.
Apart from appearance, Lin Qiye could hardly connect this savage beast with the silly, scabby mongrel.
He glanced at the Coat of Arms in his palm, gave a wry smile, and tucked it away.
Looks like I won’t be needing it this time.
…
Loki stared at the sudden hound, brows knitted tight.
“What is that thing? Where did it come from?”
Lu Wuwei’s lips curved. “Guess.”
Loki shot him a cold glance and snorted. “Forget it… Doesn’t matter. What I want is already secured.”
He looked up. Two figures flickered and appeared before him.
Si Xiaonan stood expressionless, handing over the scroll. “What you wanted—I brought it.”
When Lu Wuwei saw the parchment his face darkened, eyes grave.
Loki smiled, took the scroll, and regarded Si Xiaonan with approval.
“Well done.”
He leaned close to her ear and whispered, “As expected of the one I chose…”
Si Xiaonan frowned slightly but said nothing.
Loki’s gaze shifted behind her, eyes narrowing like a wary viper.
“Who’s he?”
Leng Xuan stood there, gaze calm.
“My Believer,” Si Xiaonan answered flatly.
Loki studied Leng Xuan a moment, confirmed the soul contract, and relaxed. Stepping beside Si Xiaonan he murmured, “A servant is fine—but not too many. The fewer who move with us, the better.”
Si Xiaonan nodded silently.
Loki tucked the scroll inside his coat and turned to the solemn Lu Wuwei, taunting, “I told you—Shiva’s Grudge would be mine…”
A gleam flashed in Lu Wuwei’s eyes; his figure blurred as he flashed forward, fingertips reaching for Loki’s body—
Loki’s brow lifted; his body twisted grotesquely, splitting into writhing green serpents that scattered.
An instant later Loki stood a hundred meters away.
“Interesting ability—reading the timeline of anything you touch and sending objects back to any point in their past. You used it to send explosives to the moment my clones were born, erasing them from history.”
He spoke slowly. “The time-tracing rider… pity, I won’t let you touch me.”
Lu Wuwei frowned, mounted his electric moped, and shot after him.
“Item secured—time for my exit.” Loki glanced back, gaze settling on the youth in the sky, a cold smile forming.
“But before I leave… there’s one amusing little pest to deal with.”
