Chapter 2010: Azathoth's Memories
Azathoth remembered.
These several universes were indeed devoured by Him personally.
Ever since He broke through the barrier and entered this fabricated world, He had been wandering here... This was a mysterious and unknown world, vast and boundless, empty yet crowded.
Every fragment of void, every subjective or objective "thing" that existed here, was a concentration of time and space from lower-dimensional worlds. Within this seemingly empty world, there lay energy and "unspeakable" beings that the lower-dimensional worlds could never imagine.
And ever since His descent into this world, all "unspeakable" beings here had been slain.
Azathoth spent an immeasurable length of time... No, objectively speaking, there was no "time" in this world at all. After His arrival, He used absolutely overwhelming power to slay all beings that existed in "past," "present," and "future" in this world's native realm, becoming the sole ruler of this domain.
Having cleared this world, Azathoth fell into eternal emptiness. He was like a silent wanderer, drifting through this realm...
Later, He carved off a small piece of His disordered body and created an entirely new life. He was the embodiment of Azathoth's despair and deception—initially a mass of energy in a state of chaos, so He was named: [Chaos].
The Walker, [Chaos]—Nyarlathotep.
After creating one life, Azathoth's wandering journey was no longer dead and dreary. This little creature, mad as a hatter, though low-intelligence and weak, could make some sounds... letting Azathoth know that He was not alone.
During this endless wandering, Azathoth had been trying to find a way to break the barrier and leave this world. Then, one day, He found it.
It was a low-dimensional energy聚合体, also a rare energy source in this world. It floated in the void, entirely black in color, with countless light points slowly moving within.
The moment Azathoth laid eyes on this energy体, He was astonished by the energy it contained. Being in this world, He could see through to the most minute structure of this energy体 at a glance. He roughly calculated the total energy needed to break the barrier—it was equivalent to five such low-dimensional energy聚合体.
In other words, if He could devour five such energy聚合体, perhaps He could break through the barrier once more and leave this lonely, empty place.
But when He attempted to devour this energy聚合体, He discovered that this energy actually possessed self-awareness. He encountered fierce resistance, and it was then that He learned the name of this energy聚合体:
—Universe.
With Azathoth's overwhelming power, He could directly suppress the universe's consciousness and forcibly devour its energy. However, this process was too slow, and He discovered that some low-dimensional beings lived within this low-dimensional universe, which would also affect His devouring speed.
Thus, He directly split off a portion of [Chaos]'s consciousness, used mysterious power to descend it to a lower dimension, and placed it into this universe. [Chaos] was, after all, merely a plaything created by Azathoth on a whim—extremely weak in power, but more than enough to deal with those low-dimensional beings.
Additionally, Azathoth carved off another portion of His own power, fused it with the natural energy drifting free in this empty world, and created an entirely new ideological life form, floating in the air like countless bubbles, naming it [Key to the Gate]—Yog-Sothoth.
Finally, He carved off another portion of His own corrupting power, from which He gestated a maternal life form resembling a ball of flesh, naming it [Black Goat]—Shub-Niggurath.
As these three beings entered the universe, Azathoth also shook off some fragments from His body, following behind them, while He focused all His attention on devouring the universe's energy from the outside. Soon, [Chaos] and the others slaughtered all low-dimensional life within this universe, and Azathoth tortured the universe's consciousness unbearably before finally devouring it into His body, assimilating it with Himself.
After devouring one universe, Azathoth began searching for the next energy聚合体... He used this method and quickly devoured the second, third, fourth...
After four universes were assimilated into His body, Azathoth felt that His calculations regarding universe energy might have been off. After devouring four universes, He still did not sense the opportunity to break through the world's barrier. But at this point, He had no alternative—He could only continue searching for universes to devour, attempting to prevail through sheer quantity... Finally, after an endless search, He discovered the fifth universe.
This universe sat at the very top of this world, its体型 larger than all four previous universes combined, and its contained energy was even more astonishing. Even Azathoth, who had slaughtered all beings in this world, could sense a threat from it...
If Azathoth was the material ruler of this world, then this universe was very likely the greatest energy ruler within this realm.
The moment Azathoth laid eyes on this universe, He dared to affirm that as long as He could devour it, the energy within would certainly allow Him to break through the world's barrier and leave this place!
Azathoth followed His usual method, sending [Chaos] and the others into the universe once more to slaughter the low-dimensional life within, while He devoured the universe's energy bit by bit from the outside. But this universe, whether its universe consciousness or the low-dimensional beings living within it, was far more powerful than any before.
The first time [Chaos] and the others entered the universe, they were defeated by twelve powerful low-dimensional beings. Those beings had even nearly transcended this low-dimensional universe and become beings belonging to Azathoth's world...
With no choice, Azathoth had [Chaos] and the others temporarily rest within the universe while He relied on His overwhelming power to suppress the universe's consciousness and forcibly devour its energy... As He continuously assimilated the universe, its consciousness grew ever weaker, and those twelve powerful low-dimensional beings also gradually diminished in power as time passed within the low-dimensional universe.
The universe consciousness seemed to sense Azathoth's terror and actually directly split off a corner of itself, casting it into some corner of the universe, while its main body directly fell into slumber, as if giving up resistance and allowing Azathoth to devour it.
As the universe consciousness fell into slumber, Azathoth's devouring speed skyrocketed. At the same time, [Chaos] and the others had also finished resting. Now those powerful beings that had once obstructed them had become weak and insignificant, so they launched their assault once more.
But this time, another being on the verge of breaking through the low-dimensional universe appeared, forcefully delaying their advance.
