Chapter 2000: Death of Fate

With this, the chaotic battlefield finally returned to silence.

The [Key to the Gate] stood upon the void and walked slowly forward...

The salty sea breeze swept across the battlefield. The five Chief Gods and seven Human Apex had almost entirely lost their combat capability. Countless figures floated and bobbed on the blood-red sea surface. Except for the figure in the mud-stained kasaya standing firm on the sea, there was no one before the [Key to the Gate].

"So, you truly cannot stop me." The [Key to the Gate] gazed at that face and spoke slowly, "Even with the gathered top combat power of humanity, you couldn't delay me for even three minutes... Humanity has no hope left."

"Is that so? Is this the future you saw?" Facing the pressure of the [Key to the Gate], Fate Monk showed not the slightest sign of retreat, answering calmly, "If humanity truly has no hope... then why are you in such a hurry to kill us and destroy An Qingyu's soul?

Your haste... are you afraid of someone?"

The [Key to the Gate]'s brow furrowed slightly.

"Humanity is not without hope. You have long seen that future with a sliver of possibility... You want to crush this future in its cradle, because the longer you wait, the lower your odds of victory." Fate Monk paused for a moment, "And while I speak these words... how much lower have your odds become?"

"I admit, you are very clever, even capable of glimpsing my thoughts... but this changes nothing." The [Key to the Gate] spoke slowly, "An Qingyu's soul has almost been completely eroded by me. As for you... I won't waste time killing you here. You will witness with your own eyes as I destroy humanity."

"Waste time killing me?" Fate Monk sneered, "Are you afraid of wasting time... or afraid to kill me?"

The [Key to the Gate]'s pupils contracted slightly. His expression turned as dark as water.

"What did you say?"

"You saw the future, didn't you? You know what will happen after you kill me... You fear that future." Fate Monk pointed to the blood-red sea before them, "So you can strike at any of them, but you dare not touch me..."

Before the words finished, Fate Monk's eyes erupted with brilliant light. He nimbly pulled a Short Sword from his bosom and without hesitation thrust it toward his own heart!

But the moment the blade touched his skin, his movements froze in place.

Time froze at this moment. The entire sea surface seemed to have been paused. The [Key to the Gate] gazed at the half-suiciding Fate Monk and spoke in a deep voice:

"Those who are too clever... will not meet a good end."

Behind Him, the Gate of Truth slowly opened. A starlight tentacle extended from within, grabbed the frozen Fate Monk's body, and began dragging it toward the door...

As Fate Monk had said, the [Key to the Gate] could not kill him. So the only solution was to drag him behind the Gate of Truth. Once he left this world, even if he died, the [Predetermined Result] would not return to the Lin Qiye of this world.

However, just as Fate Monk was about to be dragged behind the door, the soul that had been continuously suppressed by the [Key to the Gate] rose up once more!

An Qingyu's shattered soul forcefully collided with His consciousness, seizing control of the body in an instant. At the same time, the previously unconscious Hu Jia crawled up again. One hand made a grasping motion toward this direction from afar. With a burst explosion in the air, his consciousness surged into the [Key to the Gate]'s body once more!

The [Key to the Gate] could not foresee futures related to An Qingyu, and had never expected that An Qingyu's soul, nearly eroded away, still possessed the strength for a counterattack. Caught off guard, that enormous Gate of Truth vanished into thin air!

After the starlight tentacle disappeared, Fate Monk's form dropped toward the sea surface. He violently swung that Short Sword, driving it into his own chest!

Crimson blood dripped from the corner of his lips...

"Damn it!" The [Key to the Gate] instantly reclaimed control of the body. Hu Jia's soul suffered another blow and was sent flying backward. Just as He was about to continue and drag away Fate Monk, those needle-like pupils suddenly constricted...

"They're here..."

Fate Monk knelt half-erect on the sea surface. The Short Sword had already deeply embedded in his chest. He raised his head to look at the void above. In his vision, a thick thread of karma was rapidly constricting!

In the next instant, a massive magic array bloomed above the battlefield!!

"Dean, you go ahead. I'll be right there..." Merlin's voice drifted faintly from within the magic array,

As that magical radiance blazed to its most brilliant, a crimson figure swiftly took shape!

That figure stepped out from the magic array, gaze sweeping across this blood-red sea surface. His eyes contracted slightly... He stared at the black-robed figure standing alone on the opposite side of the void and spoke frostily:

"[Key to the Gate]..."

The [Key to the Gate]'s expression turned grim upon seeing Lin Qiye's true body appear... He knew the worst-case scenario had come to pass.

"You're finally back." Fate Monk knelt倒在 the blood-red sea surface, gazing at the crimson-cloaked figure standing before him. His tense body gradually relaxed. Then he asked expectantly,

"Did you find it?"

Lin Qiye understood what Fate Monk's question referred to. He was silent for a long while, his gaze falling upon the [Key to the Gate]...

"I don't know... perhaps."

Upon hearing this answer, Fate Monk nodded slightly. His complexion swiftly paled, but his eyes still retained clear rationality. He said weakly,

"An Qingyu is not a traitor. His soul was sealed within that body... Shen Qingzhu is missing, possibly related to An Qingyu... Whether [Chaos] is truly dead remains unclear, but it should be inside the [Key to the Gate]'s body... [Black Goat] has been confirmed dead... As for the rest, that's all."

In the shortest time possible, Fate Monk told Lin Qiye all the crucial information. He knew this might be the last thing he could do...

"An Qingyu... Shen Qingzhu?" A hint of confusion flickered in Lin Qiye's eyes, followed swiftly by pain.

Seeing Lin Qiye's expression, Fate Monk seemed to remember something,

"Right... I almost forgot you used the star coins... But it doesn't matter..."

That face identical to Lin Qiye's lifted from the pool of blood. He gazed at the crimson-cloaked Lin Qiye before him, one hand slowly extending...

Lin Qiye opened his mouth as if to say something, but still could not get the words out...

He only extended his hand in silence, clasping Fate Monk's palm.

"The board... my game can only go this far..."

"Whether this losing game can be won..."

"That depends on you now."
