Chapter 1612: Echo Corridor
As Taylor's palm descended, a deafening roar suddenly erupted from the hollow space beneath the Echo Corridor!
DONG—!!
When Shen Qingzhu and the others had entered earlier, they had noticed the structure here—besides the suspended circular corridor, there was also a massive bronze bell below, estimated to weigh at least a dozen tons.
Now, as Taylor acted, the bronze bell struck with tremendous force. The thundering bell toll echoed like thunder exploding beside their ears, reverberating repeatedly beneath the circular dome. This bell sound had some kind of special property—it caused Shen Qingzhu and the others' minds to suddenly go blank.
By the time Shen Qingzhu came to his senses, Taylor's figure had already vanished.
"It hurts..." Wu Quan clutched his ears, blood trickling down his cheek. He furrowed his brow, looking around in slight bewilderment. "Where... where are we?"
Shen Qingzhu turned to look—their surroundings had completely transformed. Apart from this corridor still being intact, all the frescoes carved into the surrounding walls and dome had become blank, as if someone had erased them with an eraser.
"Is this an illusion?" Shen Qingzhu frowned slightly.
"No, in that instant when the bell tolled, the surrounding spacetime underwent a subtle shift." 27 shook his head. He turned and walked to the edge of the Echo Corridor, gripping the door handle and pulling with force.
The door opened, but behind it was only a pale wall... and yet, this was supposed to be the room where they had temporarily placed the sleeping Lin Qiye.
"These knights can actually cause spacetime shifts?" Shen Qingzhu said in astonishment.
"This is probably not their power, but a hidden mechanism already existing within this church. These knights survived six years in the misty ruins—their methods are definitely more than meets the eye." 27's hand gently rubbed against the pale wall, muttering to himself,
"Could this be her doing too? If so, this is going to be problematic..."
"Who? Chloe?" Shen Qingzhu walked to the edge of the corridor, unhurriedly lighting a cigarette for himself, and said coolly, "Even if she's 001, she's just an agent—not Yulander himself... The arrangements here are static, but people are dynamic. I don't believe she can困得住我."
27 shook his head and said, "Don't underestimate her. If I were at my peak... No, if I had even a tenth of my original power, I could easily tear apart this barrier. But now my strength is not much different from yours—未必能这么轻松."
Shen Qingzhu gave him a suspicious look and said, "I say, who exactly are you? Talking so big?"
27 didn't answer. He quietly pulled his hood down a bit more and began searching along the Echo Corridor.
"Brother Qingzhu, do you hear anything?" Wu Quan's ears twitched, and he asked somewhat uncertainly.
"Sound?"
Shen Qingzhu paused, listening carefully for a moment. "It does seem like there is, like something being cut..."
Before Shen Qingzhu could finish speaking, the dome of the Echo Corridor suddenly exploded! A ridiculously large Western knight's sword pierced through the top of the church, stabbing directly into the earth from the night sky!
Wu Quan's pupils constricted sharply!
This Western sword was at least forty meters wide. One swing directly cleaved half the church in two. The blade stretched Infinity into the night, as if it had no end!
"Be careful!" Shen Qingzhu's voice rang out from behind Wu Quan. A strong hand grabbed Wu Quan by the collar, and then the wind rose, carrying his figure flying out of the church. The next moment, that giant sword rapidly swept across, easily slicing open a hundreds-of-meters-long gash exactly where they had been standing!
Seeing this, Wu Quan's face turned somewhat pale. He looked back—Shen Qingzhu was carrying him, six large gray wings on his back, flying through the night sky.
At the same time, on the remnants of a bell tower several hundred meters away, 27's smoky figure materialized.
"That's that knight's sword." 27 gazed at the heavenly descended giant sword and said in a deep voice.
"His sword can get this big?"
"No, his sword didn't grow bigger." Shen Qingzhu's brow was tightly locked, and he continued,
"We shrank..."
...
At the same time.
Church.
In the empty Echo Corridor, blood-soaked Taylor held his sword in one hand, stabbing it into the fresco-covered corridor wall. His eyes were filled with cold murderous intent!
On the fresco before him, several tiny figures flew rapidly within the flat painting. Taylor roared, repeatedly slashing down with the Western knight's sword stabbed into the wall, leaving savage cracks across the fresco!
A figure appeared outside the Echo Corridor.
"Taylor! Are you insane?!" Charles saw this scene and yelled, "You actually locked them inside the Echo Corridor?"
"Why can't I lock them in?"
"Lady Saint left these barriers to prevent the church from being attacked by outer gods with ill intentions or extremely powerful 'Mysteries'! To avoid disturbing her slumber... But they have no hostile intentions! This is an error on Lady Saint's part..."
"Error? When has Lady Saint ever made an error? She took the initiative to attack these people—can't you understand the meaning behind this?" Taylor directly cut off Charles's words.
Charles stood frozen in place. "Are you saying Lady Saint considers them enemies?"
"How else do you explain all this?" Taylor's voice gradually grew ice-cold. "Lady Saint's enemies are our enemies... Today, these people must die!"
Taylor's knight's sword slashed across the fresco, directly cutting away an entire section of wall along with the paintings. Within the billowing dust, a six-winged figure and a smoky shadow could be seen flying swiftly through the wall.
"Dammit, why are they so stubborn?" Taylor roared.
Charles stood at the edge of the Echo Corridor, watching Taylor's frenzied slashing. He wanted to speak up and stop him but hesitated, remaining in place.
Just then, a low creaking sound came from somewhere nearby.
Taylor's crazy slashing suddenly paused. He and Charles both turned to look in the direction of the sound—only to see a figure draped in a deep crimson cloak slowly walking out from the doorway.
"It's him?" Taylor turned to question Charles. "Didn't he pass out?"
Charles looked at Lin Qiye's freshly awakened face and, for a moment, didn't know how to respond... Lin Qiye had indeed passed out before. They hadn't expected him to wake up so quickly.
Lin Qiye shook his dizzy head. His gaze fell upon the two people before him, and when he saw the Western knight's sword stabbed into the wall in Taylor's hand, confusion flickered in his eyes.
Immediately after, his gaze landed on the wall covered in slash marks, and he saw the three tiny figures moving swiftly within.
His brow furrowed tightly, and a hint of killing intent rose in his eyes:
"You... better give me an explanation?"
