# 142
**Chapter 142: Rebirth**
Clang—!
The halberd firmly blocked Lin Qiye’s Straight Blade. Surrounding Han Shaoyun, violent winds surged as wind blades on both sides scissored toward Lin Qiye like shears!
The instant the wind stirred, Lin Qiye seemed to predict the trajectory of the blades. Mid-air, he twisted his body, evading both wind blades simultaneously.
Boom—!
The flame-wreathed spear struck again. Hongying arched her brows, shouted sharply, and the crimson spear tip bloomed into spear-flowers in the air.
The next moment, Chen Muye’s figure appeared ghost-like behind Han Shaoyun. Like a death god, two knives silently slashed toward his throat…
Surrounded on three sides, even Han Shaoyun began to struggle. Worse, among the three was the troublesome Chen Muye—one cut from him and you’d lose three layers of skin even if you survived!
Whoosh—!
From afar, Leng Xuan seized the opening; his sniper rifle fired again. A bullet precisely threaded past Lin Qiye’s trio and buried itself in Han Shaoyun’s leg, splattering blood!
Wounded in the leg, Han Shaoyun’s movements faltered. Chen Muye seized the chance, his form flickering briefly into void to dodge the halberd, then slashed twice more across Han Shaoyun’s body!
Pfft—!
Han Shaoyun spat blood, his body visibly withering. Three searing cuts burned his soul, the pain blurring his consciousness.
He staggered to steady himself, roared, and swirling winds erupted, momentarily forcing back Lin Qiye’s group.
At that instant, Wu Xiangnan rushed through the street like a gust, braving the gale to embrace the unsteady Han Shaoyun!
Lin Qiye froze.
Han Shaoyun was even more stunned. After a brief daze he grabbed Wu Xiangnan, trying to fling him away.
“Run!” Chen Muye shouted, sprinting over.
Lin Qiye and Hongying were clueless until Wu Xiangnan’s cloak lifted, revealing—
Luckily Chen Muye reached them, hoisted one under each arm, and sprinted away.
Wu Xiangnan locked Han Shaoyun in a death-grip. Seeing the three flee, a smile tugged at his lips; then, without hesitation, he yanked the pull-cord at his chest!
Boom—!!!
A deafening blast. A mushroom cloud rose, flames devouring the street. Lin Qiye and Hongying stared blankly, stunned.
“Captain… this is…”
Chen Muye patted their shoulders. “Relax. Xiangnan’s Forbidden Ruin is 【Rebirth】. At River Realm he has twelve resurrections—he won’t die.”
Rebirth?
Lin Qiye was shocked—such a ridiculous Forbidden Ruin existed?
No wonder Wu Xiangnan had said his power was special and had to be timed…
“So… he always fights by blowing himself up?” Hongying asked.
“No.” Chen Muye shook his head, eyes on the ruined road. “Long ago, before he was injured, he wasn’t like this… back then, he was terrifyingly strong.”
Smoke drifted away. Half a corpse—Wu Xiangnan—limped out, coughing like a zombie from a movie, scalp-crawling. Yet his flesh regenerated at visible speed; in five seconds he was whole, without a single scar.
He looked down at his palms; two deep crimson marks remained. Bitterness flashed in his eyes…
Thud—!
Gales swept the remaining dust aside.
Wu Xiangnan glanced back, sighing. “Used my last rebirth… still couldn’t kill him, huh…”
From the blast crater a halberd-bearing figure rose—bloody and battered, but alive.
Han Shaoyun coughed, staring at the unscathed Wu Xiangnan, shock in his eyes.
“You’re Blue Rain squad’s undead—”
Bang—!
A sniper bullet ripped the air toward him. Too slow now, he twisted but still took the shot in the shoulder!
Sniper rifles—one of the few firearms that can wound high-realm ability users.
“Almost…” A whirlwind lifted Han Shaoyun skyward. Gazing down at Chen Muye, he spoke calmly:
“Just a sliver short… pity. Now, witness the true 【Great Wind Calamity】.”
He ascended, flung his halberd into the ground. The raging blizzard stilled; snow drifted gently as if an ordinary snowfall.
Hands circling before his chest, he slowly closed them. A deep-blue dot appeared, spinning, growing.
A wind-eye.
On the ground, Chen Muye narrowed his eyes.
Lin Qiye’s mental power brushed the wind-eye and sensed the terrifying force within; his expression turned grave.
“Once that wind-eye forms, the storm will tear your 【Unbounded Empty Domain】 and sweep all Cangnan City. Half the city will be razed…”
Han Shaoyun watched Chen Muye below, seemed about to speak, but words failed. Frowning, he said helplessly:
“Solve it at the root… time is short.”
Lin Qiye caught the last line, startled—was Han Shaoyun hinting at something?
Bang—!
Another sniper round streaked skyward, but near the wind-eye it slowed, caught by an invisible barrier of wind!
Hongying flicked her wrist, launching her rose-flame spear like a meteor; near the wind-eye it too slowed and was flung aside!
An absolute, inviolable wind domain surrounded Han Shaoyun.
“Solve it at the root…” Chen Muye murmured, brows locked in thought.
As the wind-eye swelled and hurricanes spread outward…
Elsewhere.
Shen Qingzhu, approaching the 【Unbounded Empty Domain】 with Baili Pangpang and the others, sensed something. He turned toward the forming wind-eye.
After a pause, he raised his right hand toward the distant sky…
and snapped his fingers.
